In this profile he claims to be heading back to Hawaii soon. I called the bas Provost Marshal (Military Police) in Hawaii. They have all the links for this video and they will be investigating the matter. This is conduct unbecoming of a United States Marine, and is punishable by Court Marshal. Please do not judge everyone in uniform based on the actions of this one *****.

I hate to scoff at the high-morals argument but battle-stress apparently makes you do stupid things. I earned it on Parris Island, I fought in Afghanistan and Iraq, at no time did I or would I ever, find an excuse to throw a puppy off of a cliff. Things like this are not morally acceptable to the people that they fight for, and I'm sure people's lives weren't saved or their mission required this marine to do this.

            The dog probably died on impact. I've known guys who have done much worse things to animals when they were younger. They turned into relatively productive citizens. It's sickening, yes. But it's even more sickening to wish death on another person. I'd even go so far as to call it insane when the only reason is a dead, and as far as we know, ownerless puppy.

            @ jamee360: anybody who thinks we a justifiable purpose for being in Iraq in the 1st place is morally suspect enough to not warrant living after terminating any living thing. Granted, he didn't commit murder in the legal definition of the word, but that guy's a scumbag and serves no purpose on the planet, let alone "defending our country" in this senseless war.

            i think if u will take a step back and see that the reason my digg count is low is because i am of the minority in this discussion......ie the people who say that they realise what this guy did was wrong and he should be punished for it. ie. not the people who are demanding an eye for an eye (really?? a humans life for a dogs life??), and that this guy should be killed.         A) The quality is not good

        C) They could've pulled a switch-a-roo when the supposed solider is about to throw the dog and replaced it with a doll.
        D) If those men were US soldiers, then their uniforms would be different because both the Army and Marine Corps. has adopted Universal Camouflage Pattern.

        Instead of sitting on our asses bitching and moaning about what an atrocity this is--like we've been about everything since Bush got reelected--why don't we actually DO something and tell the military that we want to know what happened. They are on our payroll after all.

          Secondly, the vast majority of soldiers are returned to Iraq on more tours of duty, so there has been no real return of the soldiers so far.

        Granted it may be cruel but the dog is most likely dead now anyway. Remember the huge deal about the undersea lines being cut, until people started realizing that it was NORMAL for breaks to occur? Remember how everyone supported Ron Paul? He got a total of SIX pledged delegate after the primaries (less than 1%).

        Like those cases, this is probably blown out of proportion too. Has anyone bothered to question the logic behind this?
        1) Why would they throw a dog off a cliff?
        2) How could a dog be thrown that far, held only by the scruff of its neck?
        3) Why didn't the dog struggle or even move?
        4) Why would they film this, saying their names?
        5) Why would they post the video on the internet?

        It just doesn't add up. Logic indicates that the video is a fake, and therefore this story is inaccurate.

Creulty to animals is not uncommon among psychotic individuals which also are not uncommon-especially in the millitarty. Alot if those who sign up with the military do so for the paycheck. Alot of them are losers who couldn't make it through a job interview. So the military is the answer. The marines are known for being an especially hardcore/macho/ testosterone filled branch of the military where toughtness/hardcoreness/violence is valued and encouraged.

          2. The scruff would be the perfect place to grab a puppy if you planned to throw it far. It's like a built in skin handle.

          3. puppies and kittens grabbed by the scruff befome docile and unresponsive. It's instinct. The mother usually is carrying them to safety. Look it up if you don't believe me. That's exactly how I would expect a puppy held by the scruff to behave.

          4. I suspect they had no clue it would be a big deal. It didn't seem pre-meditated. Motari was probably like "Hey, get your camera...check this out!" They probably had a few good laughs about it back at the base camp.

          5. Good question but I think stupididty or ignorance of how the net works. Or maybe someone they showed it oo asked for a copy of the file and then they posted it not knowing it would blow up.
