- Hermiod, on 03/27/2008, -2/+2Officials have strenuously denied reports that a radio labelled "Property of Bart Simpson" had been found in the well.

- JoeBob5606, on 03/27/2008, -4/+8Next thing you know she will be haunting people through unlabeled DVD's, calling you up, and climbing out of your TV set 7 days later.
- mikefairplay, on 03/27/2008, -7/+21200+ millions indians but they care for each and every one of them. And some people say society is beicoming cold and uncaring
- NenDaiKi, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2Your argument for humanity is based on the idea that if it were somewhere like America they'd have left the kid to die.
In reality they would have gotten the kid a lot quicker somewhere else.

- mal1964, on 03/27/2008, -3/+10You can lead a Toddler to water, But you cant make them drink.
- philpill, on 03/27/2008, -0/+10"She fell 45 feet into the uncovered well" .... 45 feet !!
- bosssmiley, on 03/27/2008, -1/+4Toddlers bounce. 45 feet is nothing to them. Heck, they can survive re-entry from orbit with no more than an "owie" on their knee.
- Nougat, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3Children are virtually impervious to blunt trauma. They should make bike helmets out of children.
(I know I've said that before; it bore repeating.)
- steveoco, on 03/27/2008, -1/+20Sting: There's a hole in my heart
As deep as a well
For that poor little boy,
Who's stuck halfway to Hell...
Sideshow Mel: Though we can't get him out,
We'll do the next best thing...
McBain: We go on TV
And sing, sing, sing!- solid12345, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3DOOOOOOOOOOOOWN THAT WEEEEEEELLLLLLL!
- wvdavis, on 03/27/2008, -1/+7That's nothing, Jessica McClure was 18 months and was rescued after falling into a Midland, Texas well on October 14, 1987. Rescuers worked for 58 hours to free "Baby Jessica" from an 8-inch-wide hole.
Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessica_McClure- cygnus2112, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2You would almost think that parents wouldn't let toddlers play near uncovered wells ...
- IphtashuFitz, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1I think in the McClure case they had no idea the well was there. It was just an 8 inch hole that I think may have been covered over by thick grass and perhaps a small piece of wood what got kicked out of place.

- sputnike, on 03/27/2008, -1/+9What's that Lassy!? There's a toddler stuck down the well!?!?
Sorry, it had to be done, however I'm glad she was saved.- StolenLamp, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Don't ask me why, but that reminded me of the show Psych more than what you're referring to.
- slowburnmuc, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2We're sending our love down the well
- Alphateam, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2WELL you shouldn't have been playing near that hole there Mary.
- forsight, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2This happens all too often:( The most tragic story in my local area was a 3 years old girl that sat over a suction hole (very high pressure) and it sucked out her insides...there was no chance of saving her. I wish cities would come up with more child protective precautions.
- skidooer, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3Won’t somebody please think of the children?!
- solid12345, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2I wish parents would come up with more child protective precautions.

- martsmithuk, on 03/27/2008, -1/+0Whenever I think of wells, I think of Murakami..

- Eldorian, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2So we gonna get a crappy made for TV movie now like we did with baby Jessica in the late 80s?
- solid12345, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Hallmark already has their crack team of lawyers over there already i'm sure.
Btw have you read the update to that Mcclure girl? She married an ex-convict, is getting a few million when she turns 25 from a trust in her name, the story is about as rich as those rednecks who get on permanent disability for a sore back from work.

- Zuzubar, on 03/27/2008, -0/+4I hear she's doing well...
- wallyhartshorn, on 03/27/2008, -1/+7Whenever a story about a child gets posted to Digg, it quickly becomes apparent from the comments that very few Diggers have children.
- cHEM, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2hey, chill out. she's doing Well.
edit: Damnit, someone beat me to it.

Dugg up for cheering me up, if nothing else. - themacjedi, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1God, always looking after those children. Good one God, don't stop him from falling in the well, just let him almost die in it.
Oh Yeah, God's not real and bad things happen to everyone equally. http://brandnewatheist.com - jstem1994, on 03/27/2008, -0/+4Time to outlaw wells. For the children.
- Boshow, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1This is really a story about India's well regulation problems. If you would just make it mandatory for all wells to be wider than people, maybe some handholds to grab on in case anyone does fall in, and for god's sake a friggin lid. Doesn't this happen often enough that you should consider the possibility that someone might just fall in?
- alceria, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2Holy Drama in the Jessical McClure wikipedia entry:
Since her rescue on October 16, 1987, she has had 15 surgeries over the years. She has no first-hand memory of the incident. McClure graduated from Greenwood High School, near Midland, in May 2004.
On January 28, 2006, Jessica married Daniel Morales, an ex-convict, at a Church of Christ in a small rural community outside of Midland. The couple met at a day-care center where Morales’ sister worked with the bride.[2] Later that year, Jessica delivered a son, Simon.
On May 30, 2007, USA Today named Jessica one of the "25 lives of indelible impact," ranking her at #22. [3]
When Jessica turns 25, she stands to be paid a trust of donations from "well-wishers," rumored to be in excess of $1,000,000.[4]
McClure's rescue was mostly credited to Robert O'Donnell and William Andrew ***** Jr.. In 1995, O'Donnell shot himself after suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Former officer ***** is currently serving a 35-year sentence on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, sexual assault, and improper storage of explosives.[5]
SUMMARY:
Marries an ex-con, will get a 1 million dollar trust fund at 25 (She's 21 now....doesn't that make you feel old??) And her rescuers are dead and in prison. They should have waited to make the tv movie, this is a freaking goldmine. - thesoprano, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1What did I miss? I was helping that lady tickle midgets in a tree.
- PolishLogic, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1Oh well.
