- douce2, on 09/02/2008, -1/+49How old is the youngest? Four or Five? Anyway, good job lady. Kids need to learn to live on their own sometime, best to start early.
- angrycat, on 09/02/2008, -1/+19As long as she left one of those rotating catfood bowls for them I dont see any problem.
- sindex, on 09/02/2008, -6/+23I'm not saying she's not stupid for leaving three kids alone. But I also don't know her kids; maybe the 11 year-old is fully capable of taking care of the others. Maybe it's something he's used to; some kids are surprisingly mature. Before screaming about how awful this is, remember we barely know the story and "All three were understood to have been fed throughout. Police said they did not appear to have any injuries and were fit and well."
It's a strange story, but at least the kids are fine. They're either very independent, or someone else was, at a minimum, checking in on them. - Bovorik, on 09/02/2008, -4/+19That's the sort of ***** that scars kids for life.
How many of you lot remember getting lost in the supermarket and not being able to find mom and dad? Now times that sickening feeling by two weeks. Poor little *****. - Kyrgizion, on 09/02/2008, -1/+16I agree, but only if you hand them a hunting knife and tell them dinner is running tonight...
- rickyisawesome, on 09/02/2008, -0/+12KEVINNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- pfunked, on 09/02/2008, -0/+12Hiding under a bed when the police showed up? I would too.
- crweaks23, on 09/02/2008, -0/+11No, you just had a hell of a lot more quarters.
- pe5t1lence, on 09/02/2008, -2/+13Come on, can't keep them under her wing all their life! Let them learn to take care of themselves. I mean those kids in "Lord of the Flies" turned out fine.
- radiantstorm, on 09/02/2008, -4/+14"She had recently had an Islamic ceremony with an Austrian man." WTF kind of ignorant, racist ***** is THAT?
- Myztry, on 09/02/2008, -2/+11The children seem to have done alright for themselves.
Imagine if the cliche 20+ still living on home 'tweenager' went through that.
That'd be found dead slumped over the keyboard at the end of the fortnight. - tymme, on 09/02/2008, -2/+11Only in America...
...oh, wait.... - murk, on 09/02/2008, -2/+10lucky little bastards.
- inactive, on 09/02/2008, -6/+12that palin sure got lots of stories
- ScottMcIntyre, on 09/02/2008, -9/+15How totally irresponsible.. and she should know better as a teacher! There is a real possibility her kids will be taken off her and put into care. I just hope her honeymoon was worth the break-up of her family.
- hiPpymIck, on 09/02/2008, -0/+6mind you i bet the only reason they were under the bed was
they were hiding from the strangers in their house
they shouldnt over dramatize it - jet3004, on 09/02/2008, -0/+6Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead!

"Mr Sadiq met her in her native Turkey when she was 17, they married and she moved to the UK in 1992 after being granted a visa.
At first she could not speak any English, but enrolled at college initially to study a GCSE in Maths.
In the summer of 2006 she moved out of the matrimonial home, leaving her four children, including eldest son aged 14, with her husband.
She went on to stay with a student friend after being accepted on a BA degree course in Education Studies at Bradford College.
Mr Sadiq said after completing the first year of the course in June last year, she was granted a council house after returning for the three youngest children. "
What does this have to do with anything? - sexybobo, on 09/02/2008, -0/+5Devils advocate here. What if she left her kids with their dad for the 2 weeks he got scared he might loose what ever custody he had since she was getting married so he called a few favors for friends to phone saying the mom left the kids then left the kids in the house for a couple hours when the police were coming by so she would loose custody and he would get full custody?
- wilhoitm, on 09/02/2008, -2/+6Home Alone!

KEEEEEEVVVVVVIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNN - H4n90fThur5D4y5, on 09/02/2008, -0/+4(I'm assuming your school aged) When you leave the house in the morning do you say to your parents "Bye, I'm going to a school." or "Bye, I'm going to school." ???
Also, when you go to bed at night, do you say "I'm going to bed." or "I'm going to the bed."??? - zip000, on 09/02/2008, -3/+7I had horrible parents too as a child; I was left alone for far too long far too often...I can remember spending several day at a time alone several times when I was 7-8. I've basically turned out ok though. (my mom was (is) a junky).
I mean, I have sometimes crippling emotional problems, and I have problems making friends and maintaining relationships, but overall not too bad...
You know, I didn't start out to write a sarcastic comment - I really meant to say that I turned out ok...somehow or other I ended up undercutting that though. Stupid emotional problems. - AzBats, on 09/02/2008, -0/+3Please do us all a favour and stay put in the 'RealHyperX' reality bubble where 'liberal teachers' think nothing of leaving kids alone for two weeks to survive by themselves.
She was indeed having them treated like dogs since someone must have been stopping by to feed them or drop food off to them but labelling her as anything but an incompetent mom is just crazy. Gotta keep knocking down those straw-men 'liberals' though don'tcha. - jonshipman, on 09/02/2008, -0/+3I know! Austrians are people too!
- Sillywombat, on 09/02/2008, -0/+3yeah, whats up with the ages of the kids?? Maybe it was ones birthday!
- Annoula88, on 09/03/2008, -0/+2things like this are happening way too often these days...! when you´re 11 you might be able to take care of them for a couple of hours but def. not for 2 weeks!!
- KingCritter, on 09/02/2008, -0/+2Dude, do you even *know* any eleven year olds? I think not.
- raybury, on 09/02/2008, -0/+2"Trainee teacher" not "naughty librarian"!!!
- CVL4317, on 09/02/2008, -0/+2more like epidemic...
- ChildeRoland420, on 09/02/2008, -0/+2I don't know you. Why don't you tell me what that has to do with ignorance or racism?
- Anomaly100, on 09/03/2008, -0/+2You don't see a problem? The three children were hiding under a bed. They were scared. Just because a kid can open a can of food or stick a TV dinner in the microwave doesn't mean they can stay alone for an unknown period of time. Your parents are supposed to make you feel safe not just fed. They didn't seem to have a phone number for her much less even know if she really did just get married. The only thing the cops had to go on was a balloon that read "just married".
- troye, on 09/02/2008, -0/+1Firefox 3 says that his site is an attack site that attacks your browser.
- Anomaly100, on 09/03/2008, -0/+1I'm sure that's true, but, this kid was to be with 2 very small children for an unknown period of time with no phone numbers, no known location of the mother and a bed to hide under. Not too swift.
- dexter411, on 09/02/2008, -0/+1Yeah, and it's also racist how all these Chicago news stations always cover crimes committed by black people!
- Mysk, on 09/02/2008, -4/+5but guys, she's pretty! That makes everything OK, right?
- earlvanze, on 09/02/2008, -0/+1I agree. When I was 7, I was completely independent and responsible. I'm left alone all the time. But that was in the Philippines.
- shauntacular, on 09/02/2008, -0/+1Is that for real? Was that actually written on purpose or is that a joke?
- Andrwmorph, on 09/02/2008, -0/+1Its sad the the two boys (14 and 18 I think) are in detention for robbery and assault. What a stereotype.
- sindex, on 09/02/2008, -3/+4I remember that happening. I played video games until they found me.
I also remember my mom pulling the "ok, let's go. If you don't come with us we're leaving you here" threat, to which I replied, "Ok. See ya." She then walked over and pulled me along.
Maybe I was more independent than most 6 year-olds. - nwoantibody, on 09/02/2008, -0/+1word up...
- sentinel106, on 09/02/2008, -2/+3you still live with your parents?
weak. - SmokinOkie, on 09/02/2008, -0/+1To take a story like this and make a lame assed remark as you did...well there simply aren't words to describe what kind of a ***** you are.
- BeShirtHappy, on 09/04/2008, -0/+1This is just another sad story of children being neglected...as a mother I can't imagine leaving young children alone for a few hours, much less 2 weeks! She put herself before her children...
- gingerboy, on 09/02/2008, -0/+1Absolutely, stop wrapping yer kids up in cotton wool - skip the country for a couple of weeks, show em where the tin opener is and the tinned beans and they've got it easy!!
Its not like they had to go out hunting or create a social structure, they were making a 'den' under the bed for gods sake, bet they were gutted when police came!
/scarcasm - kimmo, on 09/02/2008, -0/+1This reminds me of a very good movie.
