It's also great to see that you got your interest tech from your father (as we tend to forget that aviation was once the cutting edge).

But "honor thy father" is a way of control. Respect and love must be earn by performance, not because a book tells us to. There are many parents around that shouldn't have been parents ever because of how terrible they are.
Parents should really be nice to their kids and treat them with respect, right. THAT I belive is a universal right earned at birth, the right to be treated kindly. - stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -0/+1My Dad is 94, and my husband and I are primary caregivers. We have staff that watch him while we're away at our jobs, but the rest is up to us, including maintaining his home that he stills stay in and all that goes with that. This post really hit home with me. I'm at a pretty high emotional state these days, seeing Dad slowly slipping away before my eyes. For us, it's about keeping him happy and as comfortable as we can. It's hard to see a man I depended upon so greatly to revert back to a childhood state, though we're doing what we can in respect of his wishes to keep him out of the dreaded nursing home.
Thank you for your beautiful tribute to your Dad. - GoldieLocks7300, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1This was very touching.
