- Velireon, on 10/12/2007, -7/+41musicians, you dumb *****.
- zorplex, on 10/12/2007, -4/+38Their snares are so wet it's hard to tell if they are playing cleanly without having to watch their sticks. On top of this their playing exhibits very few advanced rudiments and opts instead for fancy looking choreography. Just comparing them to any recent performance by the Blue Devils, Cavaliers, Madison Scouts or any other top ranked drum corp in the US shows that these guys can't march or play nearly as well. I am not about to say my high school could have beat or even have come close to matching these guys in performance (as others have done on this page) but to say that this was anywhere near the "best drum line you'll ever see" is rubbish. Judging by what videos I found on the net they seem more like an exhibition group than a drum corp. That's fine and all but I'll stick to my DCI competitions, thanks.
PS- Don't get me wrong. I did enjoy the performance. But, once again, claiming this is to be the "best drum line" anyone will ever see is not even close to being accurate. - MagicBobert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Ha, the movie "drumline" makes me laugh. I know middle schools that sound better than they did in the movie...
- TheGilmanator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Big != good, especially with a marching band
Also, marching band != drumline
Dugg down because you have no idea WTF you're talking about. - wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I'm surprised it took this long for somebody to make the obligatory "white guys got no rhythm" comment.
- merr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12What do you call a drummer with half a brain?
Gifted
I laugh at these jokes and I'm a drummer... =/ - npsken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Cymbals are harder than they look...
I myself play snare - Vwise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7if u watch the vid. you see at least 1 person missing a stick and there are a few shots where u can see a stick on the floor.
- loupanic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9ba dum chhh
- scotticus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8they have spares strapped to their snares
- mindsnare, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7kinda boring during during most of the video, but impressive towards the end, the look like robots they are so in sync (and not the justin timberlake kind)
- colonelpanic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@magicbobert. At least somebody hear knows their corps. I was gonna post a link to "Blast!", Madison, or some vanguard. Looks like you covered it with the blues devils though.
+digg on the comment, not the story because that was some disgustingly unclean playing. - Elfman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Any DCI line will absolutely SMOKE this line. Clever, sure. But dirty as hell.
Cavaliers, Blue Devils, Santa Clara Vanguard, Phantom Regiment, Cadets = FTW!

Go to 4:44 for some real playing.
Hell, even the Velvet Knights or Freelancers from the 80's could kick this lines ass. - TommySalami, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7They're a great novelty-based drumline. As far as technicality goes, what they play is high school level, but the first time i watched that video i was still amazed, and any non-drummer who sees it always thinks they're the most amazing thing ever
- Jerryskid02, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I think its really personal preference, from middle school on up I did percussion into drumline. WGI and whatnot...and I wouldn't have traded it for the world. And the drumline compared to set playing is completely different as you know. Many line players I know aren't great on set, but some are. And many great set players I know wouldn't be able to keep up with the chops of a line player, but some can. Just depends on what the individual likes to do and has the most fun doing.
- SLYK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5you notice a huge difference when you're standing next to the guy who dropped
- bcasper1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Q: What do you do for a living?
A: Its a secret...if i told you i would have to Beat you to death. - psitech, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Are you kidding me? The best drum line you'll ever see? You obviously haven't seen many drumlines. I actually thought this kinda sucked. I've seen better high school drum lines.
- motravo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ah, I was wondering what people did in Switzerland! Dugg

Shut the hell up. Best drumline ever?! Follow this link and see the best marching band ever. Drum Corps if you aren't a tard. - TheGilmanator, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7While very talented, I don't think I'd say this is the best I've ever seen. I think the guys in the show Blast (http://www.blasttheshow.com) have a better routine. While the portion of the show that features the drummers isn't the focus of the show I get more of a "woah, that's cool" feeling out of it than this video.
Check it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqUFBe3qmQc - ginrummy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Why is everyone digging down the guy who posted a link to BD?
- vcleniuk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Wow.
- Elfman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You're kidding right? WGI wouldn't even exist if it weren't for DCI. I'll bet you that every single member of the WGI lines marches with some corps for DCI in the summer. The only reason WGI exists is to help keep guards and lines chops up to snuff in preparation for the summer tour.
- xtmno3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@bombert:
Damn, misclicked, meant to to digg you up. - senorcool, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7What if ONE person dropped their stick?
- colonelpanic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Blast is amazing.
- crawf061, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you have no style... or showmanship either, for that matter
- CrossmenX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I marched Crossmen with some of the original cast... I miss those days...
- WebCester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2OMG, this is awesome. I'm from Basel, and two of the guys in the video are close friends of mine. One's a drummer and the other's in the color guard.
Basel is famous for its carnival (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basler_Fasnacht ), and we have some of the most committed drummers in the world since Fasnacht is such a huge deal here.
Every single drummer in this video has been playing for at least 10 years. They didn't win the Edinburgh Tattoo for nothing folks. These guys work hard on their craft and show, although I'll say I liked the one from 2005 better.
On a side note, the building they're performing in front of is the old garrison and where I went to art school. I never thought I'd see my alma mater on digg. - robtowne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2wow... The talking part halfway into that was PAINFUL
- livetheride, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@MagicBobert: Excellent pick.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The ending was epic, loved it. Alot of time and practice must have gone into it, although not perfect, but still awesome...
- tokyopimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@jerryskid02
Thanks man, I'm glad you commented you said exactly what I meant. But I may have said it in a way that drum line players would take offense to. - asphnctrsezwhat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Magnitude of badass is always limited when you have a yankee doodle feather stuck in your jimmy cap.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4You wouldnt even notice any difference, with that many people playing
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Why is this so impressive? It looked like a bad interpretive dance. They did nothing that approached the showmanship of the original post.
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's still showbiz, and showbiz is the province of fags.
- DoctuhJason, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Not the best ever definitely...very very awesome visually, but the playing and drill was really dirty. There are DCI lines much better than this *cough* Blue Devils...
- jivemasta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2There's one part where the bass section is almost a half step behind the snares. I don't understand the whole drumline thing. I was even in a drumline and I don't understand it. It's like the entire point is to play the fastet cadence you can while trying to throw your sticks around. Plus the beats aren't even good, it's pure 32nd notes with a little syncopation and triplets thrown in.
- colonelpanic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So once upon a time a concert band existed. An instrumentalist in this band was pretty bad at his instrument. The director took away his instrument and gave him 2 sticks and called him a drummer. Unfortunately this did not work out, turns out they fail at drumming as well. So the director took away 1 of the sticks and called them conductor.
- Jerryskid02, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Agreed with many other comments. Whoever made the title for this has no idea. I only watched about the first minute. I could ONLY watch about the first minute because of how dirty it was. High school drumlines that compete in WGI are much better than this. I was in one. It's not like I truthfully care, it's just that the title is very misleading, and I hope non drummers don't think that this stuff is top of the line, because it's anything but.
- TooEarly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@ thegilmanator
i think Blast when they first started and a couple years after were great. but they've gone way down hill. - MagicBobert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yuck. Cavies '06 was a mess and the most boring horn book of the 2000's.
- dxtr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I hope the best drum line I'll ever see, is not a clip on Youtube
- MagicBobert, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Sorry, you're dead wrong on that one. DCI is everything. WGI is, eh, on the side.
- djhindsight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Why is the video of these guys popping up all over? They're playing some easy stuff. I guess it seems cool who know nothing about drumming or this is their first taste of a drumline. Just google DCI for a while watch some solos... stay in school kids. ;-)
- dosruedas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1dirt.
- jovendelavega, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1slopppy. they are NOT the best drumline ive ever seen.
- XStatic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ok, but the routine was full of spacing, alignment and timing problems...
