- JettaMan, on 03/26/2008, -16/+2This "bullying" media concern is so New World Order. Just watch as it slowly evolves into a means to control people even more.
- faskill, on 03/26/2008, -6/+2You mean like they're bullying the bullies? Self defeating logic ftw? (This is how I see it: Hey bullies, we don't like something about you, so we'll bully you into submission on whatever we believe)
- skankyBacon, on 03/26/2008, -1/+3That's ridiculous. How are they bullying them? By wearing pink? In other words, no one can wear pink now or else they're bullies? That post is just full of fail.
- edwartica, on 03/26/2008, -0/+6Remember that episode of the Simpson's where Nelson laughed at that tall guy driving the really small car, and so the tall guy made him walk down the streets with his pants down while blowing kisses at everybody?
Hey everybody, its that guy that's always laughing at us. Let's laugh at him. Ha ha! Ha ha! - Recluse, on 03/26/2008, -0/+2I'm almost cynical enough to agree with your comment.....almost.

- themastersb, on 03/26/2008, -8/+1The only reason the guy was bullied for wearing pink was that he was just being a poser doing so and trying to say "I'm comfortable with my sexuality by wearing pink thus making girls attracted to me" I would have bullied him too.
- stinkipete, on 03/26/2008, -1/+1That's probably the worst use of the "eye for an eye" saying or parable or whatever the ***** it is I've ever read...

- ennTOXX, on 03/26/2008, -23/+275Why not just kick the bully's ass?... :||
- ElWizardo, on 03/26/2008, -2/+26Give him Pink Ass!
- CedEx, on 03/26/2008, -0/+1Or maybe Pink Eye... and then everyone can have it.
- robinohio1, on 03/26/2008, -1/+4Yeah...kicking his ass just might stop the bullying instead of the entire class getting in touch with their female side by wear pink clothes.
OR...if everyone wears pink clothes, then the ones who didn't are the bullies! KICK THEIR ASS! They'll be easier to spot.
- meshman, on 03/26/2008, -6/+13That would be cruel. :-/
- norman619, on 03/26/2008, -9/+7That would be the only form of communication bullies tends to understand. At least that was my exp. Someone messes with you, you kick their ass, they no longer mess with you. It is the way of things.
- lordthor, on 03/26/2008, -7/+9you've never kicked anyone's ass in your life.
- thcobbs, on 03/26/2008, -0/+6He never said he did.... he just said that was how you're supposed to stop it. By deduction, he never stopped it....
- norman619, on 03/26/2008, -1/+12Nice way to project your feelings if inadequacy onto me. My father was not like you thank god. He taught us if we have to fight we better make sure we win. That there are no rules in fighting and the fight is not over until you or the other person is on the ground and not getting up. In the real world bullies will not leave you alone until you show them you are not an easy target. That means growing some balls and standing up for yourself. Sounds like an alien concept to you.
- CedEx, on 03/26/2008, -0/+12I was bullied heavily when I was a child. Then my father thought it was a good idea to get me into martial arts to protect myself. I got my ass kicked harder and longer in martial arts class than any bully I met. I threatened to quit, and got my ass whooped by my dad for even thinking about it. In the end, I finally snapped from all the pressure and beat up the next bully I ran into so badly that it gave me a reputation. I was never bullied after that again.
So in the end, I do have to say, violence solves everything. - fkr3, on 03/26/2008, -0/+8Violence doesn't solve what I'm going to have for dinner.
- gudnbluts, on 03/26/2008, -0/+6"Violence doesn't solve what I'm going to have for dinner."
It did if there's any meat in it.
- a6n28f, on 03/26/2008, -3/+10Great idea. Show them what they did was wrong....by doing the exact same thing. Think they won't be waiting for the next opportunity to kick your ass? Wonder why the world is so violent? "It is the way of things," indeed.
- norman619, on 03/26/2008, -9/+4You've never been a kid it seems. Bullies have been a part of growing up since the beginning. You usually can't reason with them. That's what makes them bullies. I know amazing. Let me guess. You will teach your kinds to talk it out with the bully. Or run and tell a teacher.
- graywolfz10, on 03/26/2008, -0/+1I don't know why everyone is digging down norman he speaks the truth. People need to stand up for themselves and bullies wont mess with you. I did some messed up things to bullies when i was growing up because i was taught to not let anyone get away with anything. and no one ever messed with me when i was growing up because of it.
- KMartSheriff, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1Your gay is showing.
- edwartica, on 03/26/2008, -0/+3yeah....I tried that my freshman year of high school. I ended up with a broken nose.
- jggr, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2But how many more times did you get beat up?
- Culiada, on 03/27/2008, -0/+0"That would be the only form of communication bullies tends to understand." So true. How can anyone believe talking to the bully is gonna help. It just makes them angrier. If you're a mom, don't tell your son how to deal with bullies, let the dad be in charge of that. Of course, if you're too weak to defend yourself, get a big friend that'll watch your back. Not all big guys are idiot nerd-predators.
- lordthor, on 03/26/2008, -7/+9you've never kicked anyone's ass in your life.
- norman619, on 03/26/2008, -9/+7That would be the only form of communication bullies tends to understand. At least that was my exp. Someone messes with you, you kick their ass, they no longer mess with you. It is the way of things.
- kaelyiesta, on 03/26/2008, -6/+115Because if that school is anything like US schools, the aggressors are given less punishment than the victim when said victim fights back. The school system is ***** up and breeds this kind of behavior from bullies while doing everything to keep kids from being able to stand up for themselves.
- cashman57, on 03/26/2008, -2/+26Karate lessons!!
That's what we did with our daughter. She never had to strike anyone but everyone knew she was a student. That seemed to be enough. In fact her teachers implemented a playground mediator program and she joined it and loved it. One of my sisters put her boys in Judo which was good for them. Often the best way to combat a bully is with a confident kid.Knowledge to back up that confidence helps.- norman619, on 03/26/2008, -17/+5No. More like understanding there are no rules in street fighting. Karate is not needed. You keep hitting the opponent till they can't hit back. Pretty basic.
- Phrag, on 03/26/2008, -2/+16He was talking about martial arts as a psychological weapon. If people know you are trained to fight, then they are less likely to want to fight you even if they don't believe that karate is a good way to teach fighting. It also gives you self confidence which is another psychological tool to use against bullies.
- CedEx, on 03/26/2008, -0/+6Karate is not needed? Karate teaches them to be calm and disciplined in a fight situation. They don't have to rely just on the karate skills, they could use the "keep swinging till you can't swing no more" approach if they wanted to, but the whole point is that they are exposed to what fighting is and what to expect. Not taking the time to learn about fighting and fighting is akin to not learning how to swim and expect to stay afloat should there be a time you fall into water.
- popfrogs, on 03/26/2008, -1/+3+1 for truth. At my school, people got picked on for being in Karate classes. Bullies come up and say "so you think you're tough because you know karate huh?" *punch*. Plus, a school or street fight isn't all nice and proper like a dojo, where everyone knows when to stop, safe or dangerous areas to strike, when to stop hitting or kicking, etc. In a street fight you use anything at your disposal to stop your opponent.
I remember one school fight that started at the school, went down the street for 5 blocks, ended up in the high school parking lot where the dudes were ramming each other into cars. That was either the best or worst fight of all time, depending on which side of the fence you sit on.
- KillPenguin, on 03/26/2008, -5/+1To be honest, karate probably won't help much in real world situations, but the other kids don't know that so it's still useful. Although, it might not work as well with boy since even bullies are less likely to hit a girl.
- achoi, on 03/26/2008, -1/+3Bullies are less likely to hit a girl because
1) hitting a girl does nothing to his bully cred, and
2) getting beat up by a girl will absolutely destroy his bully cred.
so they aren't going to take that chance, and instead capitalize on what's easily accessible to them.
- achoi, on 03/26/2008, -1/+3Bullies are less likely to hit a girl because
- andyhite, on 03/26/2008, -0/+5A friend of mine has 3 black belts and uses that as a way to avoid fighting. He carries one of his black belt licenses with him in his wallet and throws it in the face of any idiot that tries to start ***** with him while we're out having a good time. I've seen him fight once (his opponent didn't believe him), and after the guy took a swing he had him on the ground with his knee to the guy's throat in a split second. Anyway, I digress - the moral of my comment is that I agree with cashman57. You can avoid a fight, as well as bullying, using passive intimidation.
- CedEx, on 03/26/2008, -0/+3Who's issuing licences for black belts? I've never heard of any organization who does this!
- andyhite, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2Black belt licenses are issued by martial arts organizations. It's kind of like a certification.
- norman619, on 03/26/2008, -17/+5No. More like understanding there are no rules in street fighting. Karate is not needed. You keep hitting the opponent till they can't hit back. Pretty basic.
- Ajajadude, on 03/26/2008, -2/+3Hey, they're just grooming kids for adult life when they're working for a bunch of corporate asshats.
- jgtg32a, on 03/26/2008, -2/+1Oh yea I remember that.
- cashman57, on 03/26/2008, -2/+26Karate lessons!!
- CodeCobalt, on 03/26/2008, -1/+29I dunno about that. I've been a "victim" a few times in conflicts at school. I've stood up for myself and received less of a punishment than the aggressor.
This kid would kick and hit me everyday in class and the teacher would yell at him but never really do *****, the other kids in the class hated the kid too, and would stand up for me occasionally. I didn't really care cause in all honesty he was a waste case, failing and never gonna go anywhere. one day though I kicked his ass in class. just happened to catch a kick and push him back, and got on top. I got suspended for 5 days, the other kid got expelled once what he was doing all semester was finally brought to the schools attention.
Then my senior year I saw this kid spit on this girl, confronted him about it, he tried spitting on me, then pushed me and I just came back giving him a few whacks to the head, my freshman english teacher saw the whole thing and yelled for me to stop after about 45 seconds and I quit right as she said to... I got suspended for 3 days, he got suspended for five... and to make things even sweeter the assistant principle came up to me and was like "I admire what you did but come on, you know he walks home by the train tracks, you should have beat him up out side of school... guess I wasn't the victim there so much... but it was hilarious.- Klisk, on 03/26/2008, -0/+16I got kicked out of a highschool for fighting back against a bully. They said my offense was worse than the bully's offense, because while the bully is acting out aggressively, it is more of a priority for the victim to "turn the other cheek" and not provoke violence.
- Jeffler, on 03/26/2008, -0/+12Similar Klisk but not as severe, 6 day suspension to the other's 1. He'd been hitting me and insulting me all year, I snapped. Wasn't even that major, I gave him two LIGHT "STFU" punches, and held him to the wall till the teacher showed up. I got 6 because I ddin't turn the other cheek and because someone nearby said I was slamming him into the wall in hopes to give him a concussion.
***** bit me too during the fight, they thought I was kidding, you can still kinda see it 3 years later, left a nice mark.- CodeCobalt, on 03/26/2008, -0/+5perhaps my school feared I would sue or something due to the lack of anything being done about the bully physically attacking me in front of the teacher multiple times. I'm not sure... Glad it worked out though.
- d03boy, on 03/26/2008, -8/+4why not nuke America? same idea
- gamemasterAS, on 03/26/2008, -1/+13Most of the time you can avoid fighting and still make them look like an Asshat. Today in art I stepped on a kids foot on accident and he grabbed me by the throat after I had apologized and said " You wanna fight?" So I told him I was free on Thursday after school, then I said scratch that I have to go to piano lessons and just kept making up random things until he got so angry with me. Then I just told him my week was to bussy so he should just come over to my house this weekend for a sleepover and we can figure it all out. lulz
I think he felt pretty pwnd especially since that came from a stupid 5' 5" freshman.
I really do this ***** all the time and it almost always works, some day I'm gonna get my ass kicked pretty bad. - skankyBacon, on 03/26/2008, -0/+4I think the idea is that they're more mature than the bullies. That's why fighting someone who wants to solve all his problems through fighting isn't going to teach them anything. Fighting fire with fire just makes more fire.
- hmcook87, on 03/26/2008, -0/+4becuse beating people up is nowhere near as classy as this. and its something the bullies would not be able to understand, adding to its effectiveness.
- ElWizardo, on 03/26/2008, -2/+26Give him Pink Ass!
- WordsnCollision, on 03/26/2008, -7/+170A smart bully would've bought up a few hundred pink shirts and started selling them.
- SuperWinner, on 03/26/2008, -4/+19Is 'bully' a nice way of saying someone is an asshole? I think kids should use the word asshole and start getting used to them as they will likely end up working for a dumb asshole, if you look around you will see our society is run by the biggest assholes!
- fwertz, on 03/26/2008, -7/+2And your solution is?
- Phrag, on 03/26/2008, -1/+7Buy 3,500,000 pink shirts.
- CCoe, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2That's actually a valid question, though awkwardly put. I think implicit in SuperWinner's post was that he believes that there is no solution and kids need to start getting used to dealing with them, which is why fwertz's question was awkward. But, if Political Science taught me anything, it's that you should never complain or write about a problem unless you have a solution. One of my best profs used to say, "oh, you don't like it? Well, what are you going to do about it?" The students would laugh but then after a while realise he was dead serious. We eventually learned that his question was valid, and from that point onward we seriously engaged our minds. I always ask myself that question whenever I start griping about a state of affairs. So fwertz, hats off to you.
- Swivelstick, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1But SupperWinner made a simple statement and did not imply a fix for anything. Stating that one should always have a solution to a problem is a great way for the problem to stay hidden such as the case with bullying in many instances.
- CCoe, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1Which is why it was awkwardly put and doesn't apply in this case. It's still an important question. Even if it's for the future when the problem has fully come to light.
- asisdead, on 03/26/2008, -1/+4Nicely put A+
- tony23, on 03/26/2008, -0/+10Uh, no. There is a big difference between bully's and assholes. If you don't know the difference, then you've never been bullied.

- jabberwolf, on 03/26/2008, -4/+2Hmm wearing pink. I see... of course wearing pink is definately not a way to get picked on !!
Are they serious? I think bullies everywhere would be looking for pink, and making them wear pink dresses to match !- Stevanoski, on 03/26/2008, -2/+1lol
- Kerrigore, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1In High School, I had a teacher who was a body builder so he looked like a professional wrestler. On Halloween he'd wear a pink dress and a wig to school, but no one ever really made fun of him for it :D

- thesonofdarwin, on 03/26/2008, -8/+56It also says sinners will be dealt with on judgment day. It is no your, or any other Christian's job to persecute others.
- lamiaconfitor, on 03/27/2008, -2/+1actually, the bible says people should put homosexuals to death. strong case for atheism.

- popfrogs, on 03/26/2008, -1/+4Are you ***** serious? The bible is all about terrordomes on non-believers. Even God got in on the act.
- hmcook87, on 03/26/2008, -1/+3yea, the bible really does justify violence... seriously have you actually read the old testiment?
- chrgrose, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1What a way to skip right on over the first two-thirds of that collection of hatred. They didn't even get things right in the New Testament. The good ideas of Jesus even degenerated and acidified into the book of Revelation, the ultimate in christian contempt.
- halobender, on 03/26/2008, -1/+8Also says adulterers should be put to death. Go figure.
- herbstblatt, on 03/26/2008, -2/+2I think you missed the New Testament...
- lamiaconfitor, on 03/27/2008, -1/+3whew jesus says he did not come to change the old laws, but to add to them?

- chrgrose, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3Are you just trying to become a candidate for having the most burried comment on digg, or are you really just a fundamentalist prick?

- RainNIU, on 03/26/2008, -6/+17I'm sure that was their #1 priority. Attempt at an obligatory anti-America statement to get dugg up? Fail.
- Ajajadude, on 03/26/2008, -3/+4...because of school bullys hating on the color pink?
- HoratioHellpop, on 03/26/2008, -15/+0Yah, too bad they still go to US hospitals because your healthcare sucks rocks. I love waiting three weeks to get a broken arm set.
- meesho, on 03/26/2008, -4/+7At least they have free health care...
- HoratioHellpop, on 03/26/2008, -9/+3And you'd rather wait three months for a simple operation, than to pay to have it done in two weeks. Figures.
- meesho, on 03/27/2008, -0/+0Different hospitals/doctors have different priorities. Some simple operations can wait 3 months, more critical ones need to be done sooner. Although I've never heard of anyone waiting 3 months for a simple operation anyway. And you're talking like health care in the states is great. In my experience, health care in Canada and the states are fairly equal, the only differentiating factor being that in the states if you don't have health insurance, you pay an arm and a leg (No pun intended) while in Canada, it is free like it should be.
- KingMoses, on 03/26/2008, -4/+1It's so obvious that people who praise Canada's health care system have never experienced it first hand.
- meesho, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1Well if you care to know, I have dual citizenship to Canada and have spent every summer of my life in Ottawa. So far I, nor my family (grandparents who live there) have ever had an issue with the Canadian health care system. Maybe it is your doctor?
- bagboyrebel, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2Because we all know the American health care system is so great...
- HoratioHellpop, on 03/26/2008, -9/+3And you'd rather wait three months for a simple operation, than to pay to have it done in two weeks. Figures.
- Amiga500, on 03/26/2008, -2/+6Dude... even paying for it myself, i had to wait 2 weeks for a doctors appointment for simple blood work. There is no system where you don't wait, they are all overburdened.
- Xondar, on 03/26/2008, -1/+5Ignorance abounds in your comment.
- RogueMountie, on 03/26/2008, -1/+4Who exactly has to wait 3 weeks to get their broken arm set? Have you ever met anyone like this? Or are you just pulling ***** out of your ass? Thought so.
- meesho, on 03/26/2008, -4/+7At least they have free health care...

I'm assuming it's the same high school? - skarbreeze, on 03/26/2008, -2/+10Much longer than that - try September of 2007.
http://www.neatorama.com/2007/09/15/pinkd-students ...- shadeOfGrey, on 03/26/2008, -1/+5You realize that September was literally "months ago".

- achoi, on 03/26/2008, -0/+11there you have it:

>= 7 months = "Years ago"

- oldhick, on 03/26/2008, -44/+7I can't really blame the bullies on this one either. Forget the Bible, dudes just shouldn't wear pink.
- mywhitenoise, on 03/26/2008, -1/+12Pink is fine, I personally don't wear it, but I don't see what's so wrong about it. It looks pretty sharp.
Hot pink, now that's just funny.- oldhick, on 03/26/2008, -24/+3Its the color little girls rooms are painted. Man up.
- mywhitenoise, on 03/26/2008, -0/+12and blue is the color little boys rooms are painted, are girls not allowed to wear blue?
And I just said I don't wear pink.- oldhick, on 03/26/2008, -22/+4Little girls can do whatever they want to, they don't have to be men.
- furbyboy, on 03/26/2008, -0/+2Dumb *****, colours by themselves have no meaning......if green suddenly became the colour we associated with little girls does that mean we'd have 2 stop wearing green???

- oldhick, on 03/26/2008, -24/+3Its the color little girls rooms are painted. Man up.
- apetrie, on 03/26/2008, -0/+13You know pink was considered the appropriate colour for boys, and blue for girls up until the 1950s? Associating colours with gender is just well.. stupid, arbitrary, and pointless. People should be able to make their own choices on what colours suit them, please them and represent them. Colours do not have a sexual bias. Personally, I hate pink. That not because of nor despite my gender. I just find it ugly!
- asisdead, on 03/26/2008, -1/+4Yeah i love pink so much i wear pink condoms wile i am having sex with my wife wile the kids are off to school. So am i gay because i wear pink condoms
- Pixelante, on 03/26/2008, -1/+5If wearing pink makes you gay, then having sex with a woman while wearing pink automatically makes you a lesbian.

- oldhick, on 03/26/2008, -2/+1Thank you sir. I appreciate your appreciation.
- Phrag, on 03/26/2008, -3/+6Here is a little hint for you. The less concerned you are with appearing manly, the more confident in your inherent 'manliness' you appear, if you catch my drift. I went to a college party recently wearing a pink tee shirt that I got for volunteering at a art festival the week before (I know, how unmanly of me). I have never been hit on by so many women in my life. The thing is that they think you must a huge... ummm... 'amount of self confidence' to wear a shirt like that and not care what people think.

- Asheis, on 03/26/2008, -0/+6I went to high school in a primarily macho hispanic/african american population ("high risk") school. The big, badass, macho guys wore pink all the time. I'm pretty sure it was a hip-hop trend at one point. I wonder what kind of school you go to?
- SinisterBunni, on 03/26/2008, -1/+3yea, and hopefully all of those "***** kickers" have ass cancer now. douche

- n8o8, on 03/26/2008, -6/+44I don't know, I've seen some pretty big guys wearing pink on purpose at clubs. Lames...
- Needles13, on 03/26/2008, -16/+2"School can be as traumatizing as any battlefield. There are the locker room wedgies, the Dodgeball attacks, the lunchroom shunnings." Lunchroom shunnings!? Dodgeball attacks?! People are throwing dodgeballs at other people while playing Dodgeball!? RIDICULOUS, I'm outraged, this would scar me or anyone else for life. This stuff is way more traumatizing than anything I've heard of in Iraq. Thank god this wonderful article has opened my eyes about how bad Canadian school children have it compared to soldiers.
- fwertz, on 03/26/2008, -5/+1***** you and your sarcasm.

fixed- Pixelante, on 03/26/2008, -5/+3I'm sorry this kind of stuff happened to you. You should have carried an X-Acto knife, it's a good defence weapon on any schoolyard if used properly. Just remember to slash, not to stab, it's not long enough to cause damage to internal organs and it may become stuck but a good slash will go through clothing and slit open some blood vessel.
Alternatively, use a Stanley knife with a segmented blade. Practice opening it quickly so that about 4-5 segments will come out. Use a slashing-while-pushing motion so that the blade will break inside the wound.- gudnbluts, on 03/26/2008, -0/+1Yeah. Your prison sentence will teach that bully.

- gmiley, on 03/26/2008, -1/+15Back in the old days pink was the color that boys wore, while blue was for girls. This was due to the fact that Red was a masculine color, and as the dye faded eventually some cloth would end up pink. This pink cloth usually ended up being used for young boy's clothing while the darker reds were used for the men. So anyone that says pink is for girls only, is an idiot.
- omegared, on 03/26/2008, -1/+4who ever though a color could belong to a gender specifically? What even makes a color masculine, simply saying it is?
- CodeCobalt, on 03/26/2008, -1/+1I'm saying men don't wear pink. Even as you stated little boys, not teens, and men.
- gmiley, on 03/26/2008, -0/+8Red is the color of blood and fire, and was considered to be the color representing war, strength and power. That is why red was considered a masculine color. Blue is the color of the sky, and of water, so it is considered calm, peaceful, and cool, and as such - more feminine.
- CodeCobalt, on 04/06/2008, -0/+1red and pink are different things. And thanks to hallmark pink is now associated with frills, valentines day, and girly things.
