- MooseJawMan, on 09/30/2008, -2/+5750,000 people a YEAR are ripped off by the Nigerian scam!
This tells it like it is! - inactive, on 09/30/2008, -1/+42419 continues to claim victims everyday. The problem is that there are enough naive people in this world to believe that everytime somebody tells them they won something, they fall for it. Yes, I would cut those *****' heads, but on the other hand you have to ask yourself how come you won a million dollars all of a sudden. Whatever, my two cents.
- Kronich, on 09/30/2008, -0/+37I can't believe that that many people still fall for the various Nigerian cons - I usually go by the motto - If it's too good to be true - it probably is.
- BabyHulk, on 09/30/2008, -1/+32awesome effort. who needs million dollar budgets.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+29If you want to learn more about the 419 Nigerian scam, please paypal me $25 and I will mail you an informative DVD.
- inactive, on 09/30/2008, -0/+24For a time I had some fun leading on one of the scammers. Giving him false account numbers and claiming a transposed number, asking for him to send proof the money exists and such. It was great fun for a time and he finally tired of all of my lame excuses.
- Plasmatica, on 09/30/2008, -1/+22If you get ripped by such an obvious scam, you probably deserve it. Seriously, 50,000 people a year? Where do these people hang out and how can I contact them?
- ChapmanDigital, on 09/30/2008, -0/+21I had a Nigerian con artist try to get me one time. He used Ebay as his method. After he won one of my auctions he said he would pay me, but he also had additional money that he needed me to send to some location.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -3/+22You bastard. You stole my avatar.
- inactive, on 09/30/2008, -3/+22Excellent article. Thanks for the shout.
- jodimcmullen, on 09/30/2008, -0/+18I know a man who got scammed, he won't reveal the full extent, but it is more than $10,000.00.
- occasus, on 09/30/2008, -1/+17Ugly graphics I can tolerate.. but not distorted aspect ratios.
- inactive, on 09/30/2008, -2/+18cool!
- stevenscorsese, on 09/30/2008, -1/+17great topic for a movie - amazing it was made on next to nothing
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+16I am afraid to buy the download because I am afraid it's a scam
- inactive, on 09/30/2008, -2/+18What kind of retard actually falls for that crap? Honestly...
- brightlight4, on 09/30/2008, -0/+15Most of those ripped off is due to their own greed!!
- ileftfark, on 09/30/2008, -1/+16Fight back against these *****. For the uninitiated, there's 'scambaiting', where you take these guys for a ride, and the results are often hilarious. If you haven't seen this story, it's an internet must: http://www.thescambaiter.com/FORUM/showthread.php? ...
- ventsi, on 09/30/2008, -1/+15he has talent

- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+12I'm not paying for this.

Sorin Mihailovic = the new Robert Rodriguez.
read 'rebel without a crew' - bixby1, on 09/30/2008, -1/+13According to my email, I win the lottery 3 times a week. Don't know what to say, I'm just lucky I guess.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 10/01/2008, -0/+11More like "Good way to know if they are trying to scam you is if they claim you'll somehow get money simply by replying to an e-mail."
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+11The million $$$ budgets are only because the STARS will only appear if they get mega $$$
3 headline stars can cost ya, but if you have your friends show up, it costs ya only lunch, a few cases of beer and possibly dinner if you run late filming - silentb0b, on 10/01/2008, -1/+11anyone who falls for the scam deserves it.
- rnawky, on 10/01/2008, -0/+9IMO anyone who gets ripped off by one of these scams deserves to get ripped off. If you're THAT stupid to give out your financial information to a complete stranger....
On that note, I have a $250,000,000.00USD (TWO-HUNDRED AND FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS AND NO CENTS) that I just want to give away because my country wants me to gtfo. Just email me your bank account information and social security number, as well as nude photos of your wife (if she's under 25) and I will transfer the funds ASAP. - PeppermintPig, on 09/30/2008, -0/+9Because Idiocracy was a documentary?
- thegrantman, on 10/01/2008, -1/+10I ***** up.
- inactive, on 09/30/2008, -0/+9Yeah, it's pretty much the most obvious and dumb scam anyone could think of.
And it still works. Flatter, promise reward, ring the bell. Lemmings. - herrshuster, on 10/01/2008, -3/+12Epic. Fail.
IT'S OVER 9000!!!! - inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+9You're doing it wrong
- frankadeniken, on 09/30/2008, -0/+8you would be surprised....
- jkahrs595, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8So let me get this straight. This kid recognizes a scam that is very effective and makes a lot of money, so his plan is to make a movie about said scam, and in turn makes money himself by selling the movie back to the people who possibly have been scammed already. Genius.
- NexTRaker, on 09/30/2008, -3/+11Recently I've received spam like that, it says it originated in Nigeria. Good way to know if they are trying to scam you is if the sender has a Yahoo Email, or G-mail you know one of the free emails, thanks for warning
- PuterPrsn, on 09/30/2008, -0/+7Dugg for an enterprising student with imagination on a shoe-string.
BTW - it's hard to scam an honest person - the ones that are basically asking you to launder money only trap the greedy. The lottery ones, well, what can you say? If you didn't buy a ticket, how could you have won?? - Howie1, on 09/30/2008, -1/+8I watched how they use different tricks to sucker people into sending them money. It's a shame how eager people are to belive that money will just fall in their lap. Hopefully this film will open some eyes before people start opening their wallets!
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+7Who are these people still being fooled by Nigerian Scammers?
- thedarkshadow, on 10/01/2008, -0/+7Just today I got a good laugh from qdb.us at a fake one of these scams
Source: http://qdb.us/242212
I am Ministry of the Treasury of the Republic of America. My country has had crisis that has caused the need for large transfer of funds of 800 billion dollars US. If you would assist me in this transfer, it would be most profitable to you.
Please reply with all of your bank account, IRA and college fund account numbers and those of your children and grandchildren to wallstreetbailout@treasury.gov so that we may transfer your commission for this transaction. After I receive that information, I will respond with detailed information about safeguards that will be used to protect the funds.
Comment: #animutation on wgiowrb.dyndns.org:6660 - inactive, on 09/30/2008, -0/+6Yeah, I've performed some "leading on" my own dang self. It's so tiring, tho; now I just say, "Put all that cash into a shoe box, tie it securely according to USPS regulations, and send it to me." Despite USPS "regulations" precluding tied pkgs, they STILL insist upon playing along.

- gabiciocan, on 09/30/2008, -1/+6The dude did a good job if I am judging by the trailer, however I guess even a series could be done on the topic. There are so many people getting screwed that you could easily do a reality show...
- lucutus, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4Survival of the fittest. In a game of knowledge that includes mental fitness. Life is full of scams because many people are scam-able. Is that a word?
Seriously though we scammed the scammer years ago. If you are doing any sort of financial business on the Internet and you don't know how to recognize when you are being manipulated then you really should stick to the NO PERSONAL INFO on the computer rule. - triblinator, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4HOLY ***** *****!!!! This film won the best student award *last weekend* at this tiny film festival in my town... I was on the set design. It's on the flipping page of the website, 'Winner at the Rappahannock Film Festival!' !!!! Probably no one cares about brushes with internet fame, but my girlfriend was a flipping judge for this movie winning awards enough to get on the digg frontpage. Woot!
- solidus636, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4Dugg for admittance.
- thegrantman, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4We should be doing this to pay for our bailout.
- systemghost, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4Hardly seems appropriate to charge $10 for something that could generate more money in ad revenue if it were posted for free.
