- StigNordas, on 05/07/2008, -4/+199Something seems awfully wrong about having a cell phone out while begging for spare change (6th pic).
- iidestined, on 05/07/2008, -3/+142That dog would have gotten my spare change.
- toadinthehole79, on 05/07/2008, -2/+122Dugg for the dog. I couldn't resist either.
- GoonPowerX, on 05/07/2008, -1/+105One time in NYC, I saw a lady completely blasting this homeless guy, yelling at him saying stuff like "you're worthless" and "get a job"...I thought that was horrible of her to do until I saw his sign...
"Tell me off for a dollar" - mentallyinhell, on 05/07/2008, -0/+91I'd have given to the clone war vet. Better than the 22 year old "vietnam veteran" in nikes.
- kcwyckoff, on 05/07/2008, -2/+86I've seen those before.... in real life. SAN FRANCISCO RULES!
the guy asking for $.98 ransom always stands outside Giants games
if i had 98 cents for every 98 cents i've given him, i'd have at least 98 cents - cbartlett, on 05/07/2008, -6/+90Who is this Divine Caroline bitch and why is her site always on the front page?
- RcFromTwitter, on 10/10/2009, -0/+81Damn Ninjas.
- Buddhaismybuddy, on 05/07/2008, -0/+80If I ever had to beg my sign would simply read:
"Good Karma - ¢25" - elephantay, on 05/07/2008, -5/+64Really enjoyed it up until the last picture.
"At least we aren't mugging you!!!" not even a bum, just some punk traveling his fat ass across the city. He aint gettin my change, the rest are - TexasShiv, on 05/07/2008, -4/+44Get a job, sparkling wiggles
- ElBeh, on 05/07/2008, -6/+44Look! A black guy is asking for change!
- stopthistrain, on 05/07/2008, -2/+40Harvard Square in Boston - by a 20 something year old kid:
LAWN GNOMES KILLED MY FAMILY. NEED MONEY TO BUY LAWNMOWER FOR REVENGE
Loved it, best sign ever; didn't give him money though, just laughed my ass off. :P - Digger1218, on 05/07/2008, -0/+38Thats a bit different in my opinion. At least he was playing music and "working" in a sense. I try to give to street performers and musicians because I feel they're providing a service, but most bums get the "no, sorry" from me.
- CedEx, on 05/07/2008, -0/+37Does he give you back 2 cents if you only have a dollar?
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -1/+36To me, the irony is that most people don't realize how close they are to being homeless themselves. So many of us live from paycheck to paycheck, not by choice but because of the economy. I doubt there are many who have enough savings to last 3 months if they lost their job and even if they do, that's not much of a buffer between the good life and being homeless. I'm not being sanctimonious, I've walked by plenty of panhandlers without giving a dime when I should have, but when they are on the same corner every day religiously, it makes you suspicious. I wish there was a way to tell if they were honestly "down and out" or just abusing your sympathy.
- Ramble, on 05/07/2008, -3/+38I think that's reasonable for $20 an hour.
- IndigoMoss, on 05/07/2008, -1/+36If you say, "If your have a clever homeless sign, then you haven't been homeless for very long - Chris Rock.", you haven't been reading the other comments very long.
- Willy99, on 05/07/2008, -1/+35the best i ever saw... this guy w/ a 300 lb wife who was with him. and the sign said... i have feed my wife.
- internerd2, on 05/07/2008, -3/+36You don't have homeless people where you live? =)
- RealmDown, on 05/07/2008, -0/+33Giving to the poor is the responsibility of those who can, but I despise professional beggars. I make a decent wage, but some of these "oh please just give me money" asshats live better and make a higher annual salary than I do.
Despise. - raze888, on 05/07/2008, -1/+30there's a lady at Harvard Square in Cambridge, Mass, that's been out spare changing for at least 15 years. She's got a house, kids that went to college. I asked her once why she was out there every day, she told me it was the easiest way to make 20 bucks an hour without doing any work.
- ligyron, on 05/07/2008, -1/+29Also a quick way to lose all dignity for yourself and the respect of others
- LeeKrieger, on 05/07/2008, -5/+32I wonder if these guys pull in more money with funny signs? I can't say I'd be more inclined to donate.
- jjustice, on 05/07/2008, -0/+23"Black Guy Asks Nation For Change"
http://www.theonion.com/content/news/black_guy_ask ... - pootpoot, on 05/07/2008, -2/+24Chhhaaaannnnnggggeee!!!!
- diothar, on 05/07/2008, -1/+23I'd give you 25¢ for that.
- galvo, on 05/07/2008, -3/+25Dad?
- Navicerts, on 05/07/2008, -2/+23Well, you can actually give him a penny and you will be over paying him - he is asking for ".98 cents"
- DiddyWolf, on 05/07/2008, -1/+22So it's like customer service? If only customer service paid that much...
- jkahrs595, on 05/07/2008, -26/+47haha it's so funny that people are homeless in America.
... - RealmDown, on 05/07/2008, -1/+20Concur. that is not a beggar. Street musicians are all KINDS of cool. Some may not be first violins in the orchestra, but I've seen fantastic performances given for just a hat on the ground. That's not charity. That is paying for entertainment.
- StevieG, on 05/07/2008, -0/+19You're being dugg down because people don't get what you did there.
- shortyjacobs, on 05/07/2008, -0/+16"I only give money to old emaciated bums, not young fat ones!"
- thisgirljo, on 05/07/2008, -1/+17homelessness is not a choice. there are a lot of reasons why people fall into homelessness (mental illnesses, a series of uncontrollable circumstances..) but it is presumptuous and elitist to say that being homeless is a preference. Although resources and different forms of help exist, its not enough to get people off the streets even if they desperately need it and want it. Being homeless is a daily struggle, a social problem, and definitely not something we should blame them for. Before you make such a bold statement, please educate yourself on the issue first.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -7/+22He's a 20 year old ***** who thinks he's going to be a rock star. Expect to see him as a bitter janitor on Digg in 10 years bitching about the Evil Corporations.
- aliengoods, on 05/07/2008, -0/+13But he was asking for beer, not money. Perhaps the liquor stores were just closed.
- Shawshanksr, on 05/07/2008, -3/+15such a cute dog
- J3EBS, on 05/07/2008, -4/+16Some feminist who probably complains to Digg every time her articles don't make front page because the guys were staring at her boobs instead of Digging the story. That doesn't make sense, but neither do feminists.
- atticus8, on 05/07/2008, -0/+12Dick Cheney: Hey, I have a wonderful foreign policy idea, Condi. We're going to invade Iraq and drop bombs on their cities, incinerating untold hundreds, maybe thousands of innocents. It's probable that we'll lose control and a civil war will start, thus claiming even more lives and forcing hundreds of thousands to be homeless refugees, many with grievous bodily damage. Then we will command a single Marine to throw a live puppy off a cliff. So that's the plan, what do you think? I need your advice.
Condoleezza Rice: I'm sorry, I don't seem to understand about the puppy. Why does it have to die?
Dick Cheney [to Bush]: See, I told you no one would care about the humans. - Impeller, on 05/07/2008, -1/+13That fat bastard from the last pic wouldn't scare a ***** pigeon... well im from Mexico, maybe that's why.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -0/+12What's even more fun is when they stab you in the eye with a contaminated hypodermic needle.
- SuperVepr308, on 05/07/2008, -1/+12Where are Alex and his droogs?

- merreborn, on 05/07/2008, -0/+10If he was good with numbers, he wouldn't be on the street, would he?
- FlagrantDrugUse, on 05/07/2008, -0/+10did you even look at the article?
