- yomimedia, on 09/18/2008, -0/+1Funny. Things will sprout out to niche areas but then bigger companies will buy out the smaller niche companies to add to their networks. Remember something like this happened with the search engine market. If any of you guys remember, there were 10 to 15 search engines you could use back in the early 2000's. Then the race to become the dominant search engine provider started. Check Google's acquistion history. They bought out a lot of search engine companies to get to the top. Same thing will happen with social niche networks that branch out and become successful. They will get bought out by the bigger networks.
- armix, on 07/07/2008, -0/+0Sorry for this kind of spam. I don't know how Alex Tew managed to get such a big traffic to his milliondollarhomepage.com but I will try to do that with my idea - www.buckcounter.com.
BTW every 150Th visitor realy pays 1$. Idea is working, but very slowly, for now. - flashback99, on 06/27/2008, -1/+1It started of niche, became big and now goes back to being niche. Like EVERY ***** trend in the world!

- hugoguzman, on 06/27/2008, -3/+1This is a logical next step. Sort of like when niche forums started to sprout up (after the rush of large generic forums)
- rykos, on 06/27/2008, -3/+1This is a "no *****" situation. If you didn't know this was coming since the start of MySpace please get off the intarweb.
- HeDiggMe, on 06/26/2008, -4/+2Yeah, saw this coming. Like they just released a twitter for sports - ingamenow. I think the next few years just sort out who becomes the defacto social site for whatever your interest--or it gets bought and just becomes an app on facebook.
- drgmdp, on 06/27/2008, -3/+1a social network for avatars?
and i thought second life was lame... - Haoie, on 06/27/2008, -3/+1As noted, in additional to the usual big players in social networking, there are many smaller social groups for specific interests, or particular locations.
- benologist, on 06/27/2008, -3/+1Social media has always been niche, even Facebook with its tens of millions of users interests less than 10% of internet users.
- sdrawkcabton88, on 06/27/2008, -5/+2***** myspace
- guillebravo6, on 06/26/2008, -8/+3nice post, great info here
