- coolian, on 10/12/2007, -5/+76Holy *****!
- sovereign3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+56Their taking humor in it is completely natural. Surprisingly enough, when human beings are under constant and extreme stress, such as being in a war, finding humor in the morbid or lethal is part of the coping process.
- troller, on 10/12/2007, -1/+41can the glass survive a second shot?
- nrdy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+41i would have shat
- CanceledCzech, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30*****, I second that.
- rjam710, on 10/12/2007, -6/+32I would've* *****[ted]; it's *have* not of. That really, really irritates me when people do that. I blame rap music.
- apache2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25actually sounds like they were pleasantly delighted, almost like a 10 year old putting a BB in the window "ahhhh *****... COOL"
- Fracture98, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Nice rate conversion there, tuxidomasx... the speed of sound is 340 meters per sec, not miles. 3400 meters is just over 2 miles. You're still correct though: too far for it to be the shot, but hardly the distance you state.
You've seen lightning storms and know the thunder delay can be easily 5 or 10 seconds. You should have known that couldn't have been correct ;-) - ajamer, on 10/12/2007, -7/+23That's why kids, you never occupy another man's country
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19Which is why you aren't in the military...
No offense, i would have done the same, and i plan to be an air force pilot if possible. - apache2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18it was a bullet from a sniper rifle, which, obviously is extemely high powered
- kickarse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Don't you know that T's always camp hostees...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10picture of mohammad ftw!
- rkzda, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10That would be pretty scary. But their reactions are typical of those who are used to it.
- igorparsadanov, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Problem of sound 10 seconds from the bullet impact. If the sound is related to the bullet then here is the proof of the distance between the impact and the shooter.
Speed of Sound is 330m/s
Speed of Sniper rifle is 670m/s
Distance of Rifle and Sound are the same = X
Time for Flight of bullet is = Y
Time for Flight of sound is = Z
Z - Y = 10
-Y = 10 - Z
Y = -10 + Z
Y = Z - 10
670 * Y = X
330 * Z = X
670Y=330Z
670(Z-10)=330Z
670Z - 6700 = 330z
340Z = 6700
Z = 19.7
19.7 * 330 = 6501M - S1ngular1ty1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7But U.S. glass is winning.
- tuka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Nobody is arguing distance in this portion of the tread... by the way, you couldn't make a 4+ mile shot with a friggin telescope mounted on a rifle.
The sniper is most likely just across the street or within a few hundred meters, that's why we hear 1 shot (we don't hear the glass or anything, just the shot) then we hear the second shot, not the muzzle blast from the bullet that broke the glass. - nullx42, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Regardless of the size, kind or smell of the damn thing, it would kill anyone upon headshot
- tony134340, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12Top signs to flash back to the sniper, come on diggers....I'll take a shot:
1. /god mode
2. i'm in ur country, haxxing ur fps gamez
3. flip him the bird
ok, I gave it a lame shot. - Samsong, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I would kiss the glass if that happened to me...
- xtmno3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5sniper no sniping!
(holds up picture of swiper from Dora the Exlporer, and references the spray in counter strike where he first saw the reference) - phisquare, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13Um, scary as hell. I would have likely pissed and ***** all over myself.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4they laughed it off.lol
- gconeen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4the job of the glass is to spread out the impact so much that the bullet can't get through. so, the more powerful the bullet, bigger the area effected.
- SLYK, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@troller
most can, but usually the second-third shot-proof only allow you enough time to get the ***** outta there - rowlodge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6*****...
- SLYK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i'm with ya if you took out the second sign...
i'm not that nerdy
personally, i'd flash a sign of women working....on a porn set... - aclements, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@tuxidomasx
According to Google Calculator (http://www.google.com/search?q=speed+of+sound, http://www.google.com/search?q=speed+of+sound+in+miles+per+second), the speed of sound is just a bit over a fifth of a mile per second, or about two mile in ten seconds. I believe you saw the number 340m/s, which is meters per second, not miles per second. This distance is at the far edge of accuracy for a .50 Caliber sniper riffle, which would have most likely punctured the window. - bashpk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4sniper or no sniper, i wouldnt want to be there
- TheBigBad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What if he shoots and then moves?
- bioskope, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8***** Insurgent camper fags!!
- Perno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3DEFINITELY "shat". Nobody but nobody uses "*****" anymore.
- rnelsonee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3As a previous poster said, the energy has to go somewhere. Every bit of momentum that the bullet had didn't go forward though the glass, and certainly didn't go backwards, so it got spread around in the other plane. That's how the glass works - it directs incoming energy into radiating outwards. Well, that, and it flexes to absorb the forward momentum over a longer period of time.
- Kamael, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Boogieman.
- TheBigBad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2or what, he'll help me make cool youtube videos?
- vspazv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Or at least make sure they don't allow the civilians to have weapons.
- Doghound, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think the second shot you hear is one of the following:
1) Retaliation fire
2) The audio of the video got out of sync and repeated itself a little. At the end, his voice does something very similar. - bigred, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Well, the force from that bullet has to go somewhere, so it goes into shattering the glass. Better the glass than the guy behind it.
I would still take a couple steps away from the window. It does sound like a second shot goes off at the end, but it could just be the sound from that shot reaching them. - foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There are no respawn points in RL, good thing I have bulletproof glass while you dont! Im coming for you!
Also, #3 is so passe (no accent, im too lazy) - Neoanarchist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@Tony
My Signs:
- AIN'T THAT A BITCH!
- lawlz
- *shrug*
- A picture of Mohammad (dare him to shoot again) - aMammoth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2My dad is working on PDcue, to detect where snipers are and annihilate them. It does it by crack bang calculations. Its really cool, no more guess work, just push a button then the guy has a CROWs weapon system pointed right at him.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1who is going to gve him a second shot after that? Not me...
- pimpsallad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just hope they come back safe!
- BlackCow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would be giving the finger to the sniper looking at me through the scope.
- mcman1223, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yes there would be much diarrhea
- orbit1979, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"What if he shoots and then moves?"
I second that. A good sniper never stays in the same spot after a shot. - AlphaBronco, on 01/25/2009, -2/+2Hmn....oppose the war, while simultaneously supporting those who carry it out. Makes perfect sense. There's no contradiction or doublethink evident in that statement. None whatsover.
Btw, Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them - tripstreet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Yay for troops, but ***** bush and HIS war..get 'em outta there!
- jewdiknight, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I would have brought a woman into the room and have her read.
