- Zippo, on 07/14/2009, -27/+452I want to be balanced, but it's hard to respect the right when you've got the likes of Hannity, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, and Beck at the helm.
- socivitus, on 07/14/2009, -11/+231R.I.P. Journalism
- CanadianCheese, on 07/14/2009, -19/+220How the hell would he know? Hannity wouldn't know good journalism if it bit him in the ass.
- pagancollective, on 07/14/2009, -5/+193...that was the joke, yes.
- chooochooo, on 07/14/2009, -52/+238he is one of the causes of this death and demise.
- jrm125, on 07/14/2009, -9/+156No, they hire slanted people who appeal to a particular demographic.
If they were balance, you'd actually see people who either represent both sides, attempt to stay impartial in the first place, or not try to pass off commentary (O'Reilly) as actual journalism. - Zomgondo, on 07/14/2009, -6/+133"with the guts to question Obama"
...and also patriotic enough to never, ever question Dubya.
Odd how that works. - mrogi, on 07/14/2009, -18/+132Fox News has the highest ratings in news media. The National Enquirer has the largest circulation of any newspaper in the United States.
- BryanG412, on 07/14/2009, -7/+111Journalism has been dead in the U.S. a long time.
- UnpossibIe, on 07/14/2009, -9/+108Hannity isn't a journalist. He doesn't even have a degree in journalism.
- jdames1980, on 07/14/2009, -4/+100His lack of a degree in journalism is not what makes him a hack.
- Bartboy919, on 07/14/2009, -8/+97I try to balance out my left wing blog reading with my right wing blog reading.
But when you have such ridiculous ***** like this article http://www.redstate.com/bs/2009/07/14/does-obama-h ... on these republican blogs, there is no question in my mind that these people are crazy. I would like to seriously see what these peoples views of things like the climate bill, without all the ridiculous hyperbole.
If anyone have a better, non-retarded copnservative blog I can read, please post a link. - MoundOfManure3, on 07/14/2009, -14/+102couldnt have done it with out you, sean.
- Zippo, on 07/14/2009, -4/+75Extreme liberalism is indeed crazy, just like any extremist viewpoint. But I don't see what's crazy about progressive thought. I can see how someone might be against abortion, gay rights, gun control, and secularism, but much of the opposition to those ideas are based on religion. And, at least in my opinion, religion has no place in a rational, balanced debate.
I've got a friend who's right wing and I'm able to have calm, rational debates with him... there are definitely reasonable conservatives out there. Just as there are plenty of "liberals" who are open to debate. There are definitely some subjects where we have to agree to disagree, but for the most part we can agree on certain aspects of each others' viewpoints.
A lot of conservatives talk of the "liberal media", but I really don't see them as being liberal. Some are, but most are centrist. Of course, from the point-of-view of Fox News, which is WAY out in the right, I can see how everyone else looks meticulously left-wing to them. Just because I thought Bush & Cheney were terrible doesn't mean I'm necessarily "liberal". I consider that being "sane". But, that's just my opinion. If you wish to debate the merits of Bush's leadership, I'm open to conversation.
I think conservative media and a lot of the Republicans are a disservice to the right-wing general population. Many of them are not only way out in right-field, but they're loud, angry, and hateful. That doesn't reflect every conservative person. I think the media needs more rational, balanced conservatives.
We can all learn a lot of each others' side. Many aspects of conservative thought are valuable, just as many aspects of liberal thought. While I do maintain a more liberal standpoint, I can certainly appreciate some conservative ideas and aim to be more centrist. - mixomatosys, on 07/14/2009, -6/+66a couple weeks ago i was doing a bunch of data entry for the company i work for. data entry sucks, so the whole time i put on my headphones and listened to some web radio. i decided to check out some of the 'progressive' talk stations. by the end of my listening session, i concluded that there are equally crazy people on the left as there are on the right.

- velvethead, on 07/14/2009, -4/+61Because there are a lot of people in the world who would rather have their prejudices reinforced than question any of their core beliefs and values?

- diskoh, on 07/14/2009, -2/+47Ever wonder why the Black Eyed Peas have the #1 and #2 songs in America?
Popularity ≠ credibility. - YENK, on 07/14/2009, -22/+61***** you Sean Hannity
- CanadianCheese, on 07/14/2009, -3/+41MUSTARD AND BIRTH CERTIFICATE!
Also, he is Black. - UnpossibIe, on 07/14/2009, -7/+44He's not a news commentator. He's a windbag that speaks out of his ass.
- Novagenesis, on 07/14/2009, -7/+42Compared Hitler to Lizzie Borden?
- Fygee, on 07/14/2009, -1/+36W can start a war based off of faulty intelligence, torture prisoners in defiance of the Geneva conventions and US law, wiretap citizens without a warrant, and a ton of other egregious acts and Hannity looks the other way or defends it.
Obama eats a sandwich with Grey Poupon mustard, happens to have an Arabic middle name, and was born on that "not really America" island and Hannity gets upset. - tehdiggster, on 07/14/2009, -8/+43Mission Accomplished

- Instaa, on 07/14/2009, -4/+37No, it is common knowledge that since it is the only radical right-wing station that all the like-minded people are concentrated to one station whereas the rest of the of people are spread among CNN, MSNBC and the other main networks.
- MWeather, on 07/14/2009, -6/+36There is no mainstream liberal media in the US, just like there is no mainstream liberal political party in the US. There is right-wing, and really, really right-wing.
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -6/+36I think they are going for, "With the guts to question Obama when no one else will, and the patriotism to not question Bush when everyone else is"
- Zippo, on 07/14/2009, -3/+31I can't really comment on MSNBC, because I don't watch that channel, but I'd hardly consider CNN "liberal". More liberal than Fox News, for sure... not that a stretch.
Honestly, compared to Canada and Europian politics, the Democrats are still pretty right-wing.
While some news stations may indeed have a liberal bias, at least they're not telling all-out lies and making ridiculous claims like Fox. It wouldn't surprise me if Fox was making the wild statements it does on purpose - in an attempt to rile up gullible viewers and liberals alike and simply ruffle some feathers.
The conservatives of America need a conservative media outlet that ISN'T Fox News. One that's sane, rational, and willing to stick to the facts. But I bet if such a thing were to exist, Fox News, Rush, and their ilk would still slander them as being all part of the "liberal media". - RagManX, on 07/14/2009, -5/+30"You need a heavy conservative weight to balance out the Liberal side of the media, which is basically everything else."
If that were try, how can you explain VP Al Gore getting more than twice the negative coverage of Gov. Bush in 99/2000? Or the fact that the most widely offered print commentaries are conservative pundits? Or that talk radio has a greater offering of conservative news and commentary than liberal news and commentary? For the supposed liberal bias of the media, there sure is a lot of liberal news its doing wrong. - system5y, on 07/14/2009, -3/+27lol, moonbats
- MWeather, on 07/14/2009, -2/+26"I wonder.. From which perspective you are seeing this?"
From a non-US centric one. Pick up a left-leaning European paper, then come tell me MSNBC has a liberal bias. - nic871, on 07/14/2009, -1/+24Unfortunately this statement is false. The National Enquirer is a weekly rag with a circulation of just over a million while USA Today has a daily circulation of over 2 million.

- casek, on 07/14/2009, -6/+29Damn you neocons and your stupidity. Hannity has no journalistic integrity. Where was he when Bush was
busy ruining our country and the name of conservatives? Oh yeah, I remember, preaching about "we distort, you comply".
Nonsense. Real conservatives don't watch Faux "News". - hivoltage815, on 07/14/2009, -1/+23He's not a journalist. He reads news articles and then rants about them. Makes him no different than anyone here posting comments on Digg.
None of those 24 hour news stations have journalists. That is why journalism is dead. - UnFriendlyFire, on 07/14/2009, -3/+25/Sarcastic clapping
- acknotSW, on 07/14/2009, -3/+25I really can't stand to watch either of them anymore.
- deathandtaverns, on 07/14/2009, -2/+23What do you balance the truth with? "Jeffrey Dahmer killed and ate people, but he was a good quiet neighbor." News should be fair however. So when you're reading blogs remember that if something is too good to be true you might want to look into it more and if your world view is never challenged you're probably doing something wrong.
- JBone007, on 07/14/2009, -8/+29So true. Sad, but true.
- DarthVolta, on 07/14/2009, -4/+25But the scary thing is that people think he's a journalist..

- snagglefoof, on 07/14/2009, -1/+22In all seriousness, it was a little upsetting that nobody ever said that when he was still a candidate in '08.
People focused too much on him possibly being Muslim when they should have been saying "Who cares?" - Zomgondo, on 07/14/2009, -6/+26What the ***** does any of that have to do with the image? You people are like a ***** Chatty Cathy doll, pull the string and get a pre-recorded Obama rant. Shut the ***** up already.
- pathouston22, on 07/14/2009, -10/+30How so? Hannity is not a journalist. He is a commentator on an entertainment and talk show.
- Coven, on 07/14/2009, -1/+20crikey that is one goofy looking bastard. he'd better close his mouth quick or all the hot air might rush out
thanks Apok -
