- CraigCarlyle, on 10/12/2007, -15/+64Look at the comments after the video: "MAN ***** DA POLICE."
I can't stand people like this, Cops put their lives in danger to protect us. If a cop is treating you in a way in which provokes you to respond with such a comment, you're obviously doing something you're not suppose to. - mst3kcrow, on 10/12/2007, -7/+30"Cops put their lives in danger to protect us"
I wouldn't glorify all policemen (and women) like that. Don't forget there are police members that abuse their power. To say all policemen are good is a fallacy, so is claiming that all of them are bad. It all depends on the person in the uniform. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14This "unarmed" man was on a heavy dose of PCP and the 4 officers were ordered by their Sargent to disable and detain. Go save your half truths and half information for election years.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Nope, it was Peter Jennings. I miss him :(
- tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9That's why I want to be a firefighter. Everyone likes a firefighter.
- GeekedAtBirth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11The policeman sounds really scared...can't say I blame him a bit.
- Antiproton, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7That's a pretty ignorant thing to say. I'm not saying we should all be sycophantic or anything, but if you really think police haven't done anything benefical for you, you clearly don't understand the benefits of our society versus, say, living in Saudia Arabia.
- synystar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9@craigcarlyle True. Cops are people. There are heroes that treat gangsters respectfully after years of putting with more ***** than most people could handle for a minute. There are also ***** who treat you like a criminal for a traffic violation. If you have a problem with cops in general, you have a problem with people in general. Or you're committing crimes regularly.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Anyone have the rest of this?
- luaplevap, on 10/12/2007, -10/+15the reason people say '***** the police' is because twenty years ago, the police was VERY different in los angeles. the ones that still say it today are just posers
- psitech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@ Zethris
"I am more concerned for the ignorant people like yourself who either are or have been in trouble with the law themselves, or will have children that will be in the future."
What exactly is that supposed to mean? I'm in trouble with the law or have been in trouble with the law or my kids (don't have any yet) will be? I'm trying to ascertain your logic. I was merely pointing out that the video seemed to only show what appeared to be latino gang members. The ms-13 gang is the most prevalent latino gang in LA and consists of roughly 90% illegals. I guess you consider me a racist for saying that huh? What should I think about you for judging me when you don't know a thing about me? You somehow assume that I'm a criminal or either my kids will be? I'll was stating fact and you are slandering someone you don't know.
My advice to you, my friend, would be to grow up and get a life. :) - falstaff, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7You know, the biggest threats most of us have to deal with at work are paper cuts. Take a job where anybody you meet could be armed and dangerous, and tell me you don't get a little jumpy. Even routine traffic stops mean they often have to deal with ***** who think laws don't apply to them. Not all cops are perfect. There certainly are a few that are only in it for the power trip, but I doubt it's significantly more than in any other job.
- FlapJaw, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8LA is such a nice place.
- GoingToShibuya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I've lived in LA for about 16 years. I moved to central California about a year ago and now I am 17. I used to see events like that happen all the time, but is only usually occurred in the bad parts of LA, where gangs are in a abundance. Now for some people, LA does seem like a scary place to live, but it really isn't. In the end it really depends on where you live in LA.
My parents were divorced so half of the time I would live in a place in LA called Wilmington and half of the time in Malibu going to school. My advice for someone who is going to move to LA, Just don’t provoke anyone and research where you plan on moving in LA. I plan on moving back next year for College, so I am always putting careful consideration to where I would like to move in LA. - tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It was aired on ABC so don't worry.
- Paperthin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Someone care to explain the contents of the video. I'm not gonna lie, I don't really want to risk seeing something horrible, I'm just that kind of a person. :P
- ringo380, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I would like to point out that it's actually pretty graphic for being on ABC. It's not Ogrish/Rotten graphic, but there are some scenes that I was pretty surprised to see on a basic channel. It was hard to tell on some of the granier footage, but I could've sworn I saw some brain matter on the asphalt in a few of those shots. Even if it was not, it's quite bloody.
- IProvideThePain, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8That's messed up. Everybody hates on the LAPD, but i've just gained a newfound respect for them.
- drvelocity, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4There's no question that being a police officer in what are frankly military zones takes some serious guts, and those police officers should be commended for what they do. I'll even go so far as saying it doesn't surprise me that a lot of these officers do some pretty horrible things to suspects. As sad, reprehensible, and vile as it is, it's inevitable.
But let me say one thing: Those police officers who can be a part of keeping this level of crime under control, and can STILL smile at a non-suspect and treat them like a normal human being treats people when they aren't being shot at, deserve our utmost respect. - crazywarthog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Dumb nuts, disarm the law abiding citizen and only the bad guys will have the guns !
- Livinginx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Except for the gangbanger/drug dealer in "American History X"
And nah, the video wasn't bad. Just goes to show how ***** completely moronic the citizens of this country can be. - diggapleeeze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Good points. All depends on where you live and where you go and who you provoke. I've lived here for 14 years and love it.
- themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Well no wonder..... I mean blacks and latinos.....
Digg me down. lol. - dzlpwr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5damn.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3-_- You already did.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Have you even seen the video? He was ALREADY on the ground incapacitated, yet all FOUR officers kept beating him with their billy clubs. There were more than enough able-bodied officers to twist his arms behind him to put the cuffs on."
I dont see a problem with someone who resists arrest and gets smacked around, sounds like a good lesson to me.
He was a piece of *****, been in and out of jail since then too. - pacobelle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's war on the streets & the war in the Middle East.
- Sc0rian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2damn thats what you call crazy world...
even know cops do abuse there powers at times, you got to hand it to them.. - hobbers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Um, Rodney King was 16 years ago. Can we get over it please?
- pacobelle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What was it 2Pac said? "There are more wars on the streets than are wars in the Middle East." You see this kinda thing all the time on the news...damn.
- psitech, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6I'm trying to figure out why anyone would digg me down for what I said. This video was about cops having to deal with gang activity in LA. The criminals in this particular video seemed to be all latino, so I assume they were ms-13. I've read that ms-13 consists of roughly 90% illegal aliens. So I ask why digg me down? I guess you'd rather let the citizens and cops of LA deal with these thugs. I'd rather them not make it into the country at all.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2They stop people like me from beating you within an inch of your life, you should be thanking them for that.
- ringo380, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wouldn't say I was "let down", but yeah, there was nothing in this that stood out to me as being much different than many of the other cops videos that I've seen. It sucks to be in the LAPD, and it sucks to be up against the LAPD.
- rowlodge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1turn california into a prison, "escape from L.A",....have fun everybody!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Crazyness
- malice8691, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm glad I don't live in LA anymore. Thats messed up.
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You think this is bad, you should see me tear up Los Santos. Grove Street represent!
- LilBoyLuver, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3No....***** you!
- halavais, on 10/12/2007, -26/+26Or the cop is doing something he is not supposed to.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2"disable and detain"
Have you even seen the video? He was ALREADY on the ground incapacitated, yet all FOUR officers kept beating him with their billy clubs. I counted at least SIXTEEN police officers in that video. You're telling me SIXTEEN able-bodied police officers don't have the muscle to move one man's arms 12 inches behind his back? - Nougat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Wasn't that Bill Kurtis narrating?
- DixonTudeep, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"That's why I want to be a firefighter. Everyone likes a firefighter."
Sorry to burst your bubble. I like cops, but firefighters?? They're pricks. - subsonik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Wait for it...wait for it...someone will throw the Nazis in in about...
- directedition, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5Forgive me, but I fail to see how getting shot at = respect. Putting your life on the line to save someone else is an honorable act that many respectable police officers do on a daily basis. This video just shows that it's dangerous being a cop. The truth of the matter is that there are many types of police in LA. Some are out there to save the public, some are out there to abuse the public.
The BBC did and excellent documentary on the American prison system where they talked to a former guard about how minor infractions would be met with a full bottle of liquid pepper spray aimed at the eyes and genitalia which result in blindness and severe burning, not just 'that's hot' burning, but honest to god flesh falling off burning.
Interviewer: "Why would you do such a thing?"
Guard: "Because. We're the good guys."
There are no generalizations to be made, just that you can't say "Such and such group of people deserve respect." The police man in the video says that he now assumes every person he comes across could pull a gun at any moment. Well, I might as well treat every cop as though they were to blow me away when I reach for my wallet. - zforrester, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1seriously, why are guns allowed to be owned by regular people?
it's just rediculous.
If there are no guns, nobody gets shot. simple.
there's no reason for anyone in north america to own a shotgun, so why is it that people are able to buy them? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Thats kind of racialy charged and is not a first step. While I support actions to reforming the immigration process (well overhauling it) and also remove the ease of crossing the borders, I am more concerned for the ignorant people like yourself who either are or have been in trouble with the law themselves, or will have children that will be in the future.
- psitech, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6A three part "first step" towards a solution:
1. Build a fence (plug the wound to stop the bleeding)
2. Stop prosecuting boarder guards and letting the illegals go free
3.Give the National Guard their guns back - BrownV, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5Look at the comments after the video: "MAN ***** DA POLICE."
Or its a 11 year old that has seen boyz in da hood to many times. More than likely if they are on the internet thats the case... - Depthfunction, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Racist cops. ***** the police.
