- Velnich, on 09/14/2009, -1/+81Isn't this the sort of thing all those cameras are supposed to prevent?
- Rodex123, on 09/14/2009, -2/+76Dear Britain,
Take it down a notch...
Sincerely,
The Rest of the World - kylescousin, on 09/13/2009, -1/+67That's awful.. poor guy.
Letting those thugs get away with it is just unacceptable... Revenge might come to mind when court drops a case like this. - DougKodey, on 09/14/2009, -12/+64I like to think the head is half full.
- t3hfrank, on 09/14/2009, -3/+49Wow. What is wrong with the justice system in the UK to give up on a case like this so soon? Seriously, WTF?
- easternguy, on 09/14/2009, -5/+38If I were the victim, I'd have half a mind to seek out revenge on those thugs.
Too soon?
Seriously, truly shocking and horrific story; the fact that charges aren't being pressed is unthinkable. - MonkeyOverlord, on 09/14/2009, -2/+34That's the thing about Britain. In America, you hear stories about people getting gunned down, but rarely do you see this sort of savagery which results in horribly mutilated victims outside of the rare psycho or guys who mess with MS13.
I've lost track of the number of times I've read headlines from Britain that were stories like "gang of yobs beats guy into being a quadriplegic; Crown Prosecution Service says not enough evidence or Police say the victim started it by talking harshly to the yobs."
Britain has a white trash problem that makes the worst parts of the South look like upscale Victorian England. - pygmy, on 09/14/2009, -0/+27Cover the UK with CCTV cameras- that will make it safe
..oh wait - doomestic, on 09/14/2009, -0/+25No, the cameras are for the terrrrrrisssstss...
- borez, on 09/14/2009, -0/+25When I first moved to London 20 odd years ago I stayed in Romford, Essex for a while. ***** horrid place, full of nasty thugs, you'd always hear stories of some guy getting stabbed or beaten to death.
FTR: Romford is CCTV central nowadays, don't they work or something? - Wingin, on 09/14/2009, -0/+22I don't know how the law works in the UK but in Australia you can punch someone so hard that the person falls down, hits their head and dies and you can get off.
It depends on whether they decide that the punch killed the person, or that smashing their head on the ground killed them. It leads to similar travesties of true justice, like this one. The unintended consequences of deliberate violence need to be punished along with the intentional consequences. - davidjunit, on 09/14/2009, -0/+21Yeah but since it wasn't caught on camera why even investigate it; that would require actual work. Work is hard. :(
- LoganT, on 09/14/2009, -1/+19I would figure the phrase "half a head" would be the warning.
- maildave, on 09/14/2009, -0/+16They need Batman more than Gotham does right now. Bloody chavs.
- SaladCactusKing, on 09/14/2009, -1/+17Sic Judge Dredd on these *****
- WafflesID, on 09/14/2009, -1/+16who said anything about legally?
Just make sure there isn't enough evidence to convict - iamnotdrunk, on 09/14/2009, -0/+14It used to be skin heads and hooligans that went around kicking peoples heads in. Now we have countless little bastards that believe in nothing except that they have a right to take what ever they want and treat other people like dirt.
No prizes for guessing the nature of the upbringing of the valueless little wankers that did this. - dreamwarder, on 09/14/2009, -0/+11that's just ***** up
- smacksaw, on 09/14/2009, -1/+12To expand on what kylescousin said, someone would probably get even with the assailants but be caught on CCTV and then go away for 6 years for doing it.
- 4rp4n3t, on 09/14/2009, -3/+13What the ***** are you talking about? Like you can go out and legally avenge an act like this in the States? Idiot.
- dsfjvhbd, on 09/14/2009, -1/+10Not enough evidence.
There you see, what all the UK government's snooping around the lives of their citizens is worth, when it comes to an actual crime committed. - autokad, on 09/14/2009, -2/+10and yet another guy faces 20 years in prison for sleeping with his gf that is 2 years younger than he is. we have an exemplary justice system, our descendants will be proud
- ModeSeven, on 09/14/2009, -1/+8Welcome to Britain, where no one is responsible for anything and getting pregnant at 15 and living on welfare your whole life is a ***** lifestyle. I honestly can't wait until we can kick this government the ***** out.
- GunForHireUK, on 09/14/2009, -1/+8Sure, for about $1,000,000 I'm sure you could get that type of operation done. I'm pretty sure they're waiting because there's not too many pre-fabbed half-skull plates knocking around most hospitals.
- inactive, on 09/14/2009, -2/+8There's nothing wrong with the justice system. If you could read, you'd see there simply isn't enough evidence to proceed. This isn't an issue exclusive to the UK.
- ZeroCubed, on 09/14/2009, -1/+7Damn, I laughed. I'm going to hell aren't I?
Oh well, so long as they allow gameboys there. - inactive, on 09/14/2009, -6/+12Yeehaa, not like the good ol' USA where I can go and gets me a gun and shoot up some varmints. *****.
- TheSkunkMonkey, on 09/14/2009, -0/+6Pics or it didn't....
HOLY *****.
I hope this guy gets the care he's going to need for the rest of his life without destroying his family financially.
One can only hope the ***** that did this get the karmic payback they are due by having their WHOLE heads removed. - asaone, on 09/14/2009, -0/+6We have a lot of veterans in the US that have the same kind of injury from military service. They can put a prosthetic device on the injury after he get's his skull cap put back on. But it is amazing that they could not come up with enough evidence to convict the parties responsible. I think the problem is the cost involved in developing evidence in the UK. I just don't think they wanted to pay for the collection of evidence to make the case. There has to be all kinds of forensic stuff that was not collected or presented. IMHO.
- xmod3, on 09/14/2009, -3/+8There should be a warning, that picture is a bit.....um disturbing.
- Mawds, on 09/14/2009, -3/+8Our country has gone to *****.
- computershack, on 09/14/2009, -1/+6Welcome to rights based Britain.
- sndream, on 09/14/2009, -1/+6You will think the police got it on tape since half of UK is covered by CCTV already.
- inactive, on 09/14/2009, -1/+6LOL
- NexusP, on 09/14/2009, -3/+7Didn't he confront the guys? Seeing the tattoo on the side of his neck makes me think that this guy thought he was gangsta. He should have walked away. The odds were already stacked against him. It didn't look like they intended to do so much damage. He was hit with a K.O. Too bad this had to happen.
When keeping it real goes wrong. - drinkerofh2o, on 09/15/2009, -0/+3I couldn't believe the Prosecutor's heartless attitude at the end of the article. Didn't even have the balls (ovaries?) to break it to the victim first. She is clearly a very busy woman with a lot of ***** on her plate.
- 8085ta, on 09/14/2009, -4/+7There's plenty wrong with it when the perpetrators of such a vile action can get away with it. It's about time the government in this country put some money back in to the police force so we can have more of them on the streets trying to stop stuff like this. Then they should totally review the bureaucracy that's swamping the police with paperwork and review some of the stupid laws that let the criminals get away on technicalities!
</rant> - astounded, on 09/14/2009, -1/+4sorry.
- jwm0z, on 09/14/2009, -0/+3It's 'knock your block off'.
- Whackly, on 09/14/2009, -4/+7He has half a mind to get angry about such cruel statements.
- srs2000, on 09/14/2009, -0/+3If someone killed the people responsible for that.. I wouldn't mind. I doubt many police officers or DAs would either.
- electrikfuzz050, on 09/14/2009, -0/+3Welcome to the UK.
- Corr0sive, on 09/14/2009, -0/+3Drinking milk help build strong bones.
Drink milk kids. - andrewtheart, on 09/14/2009, -1/+4This story almost made me cry. Nobody should have to go through this ...
- srs2000, on 09/14/2009, -0/+3Yeah... Because in the USA you get ***** over twice. The initial injury and then the millions of dollars in bills.
You obviously don't know the USA very well if you think they wouldn't discharge you until you were 100%. In the USA, if the hospital doesn't think they can get paid.. They will get rid of you.
"Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center on Friday settled allegations that it left a paraplegic man crawling around downtown Los Angeles' skid row in a hospital gown and with a colostomy bag by agreeing to pay $1 million and be monitored by a former U.S. attorney for up to five years."
Do you think the hospitals in the USA have premade skull caps in storage just waiting? Get real and think for yourself. - ryanonfire, on 09/14/2009, -3/+6:O I thought it was photoshopped at first.
- Oztog, on 09/14/2009, -2/+4When asked about not being able to work again he replied "It's a weight off my mind".
- Quaterni0n, on 09/14/2009, -0/+2Or agent 47.
- SammyboyKIDDAH, on 09/15/2009, -0/+2No I've had trouble with a hell of a lot of white people, much more so than with black people. I live in Liverpool though, there are a lot of poor white families. Go down the motorway to Manchester and it's mainly blacks living in poverty. Race really has nothing to do with this, and the economic social factors make a big difference.
- Strenoth, on 09/14/2009, -3/+5There should be plenty of evidence:
Was this young man attacked/ Clearly and abviously yes.
Young man, who attacked you?
*points at guys who attacked him*
Do you have alibi's? No? you're going to jail then.
to be sure, lawyers wil complicated things, but that is the essence of the case here. -
