- Mujokan, on 12/14/2008, -1/+32Being a drunken tough-guy = *****. Punching out a 72-year-old man delivering Christmas gifts = severe mental problems. Hope they catch him.
- defaultfilter, on 12/13/2008, -1/+31uh... Merry Christmas, everyone.
- Truedirt, on 12/13/2008, -1/+21The Grinch is alive and well.

- mccartyba, on 12/14/2008, -1/+13I don't care much for the Christmas spirit and all that crap, but that is no excuse to physically attack someone. Hopefully he and his family are able to go see the newborn twins.
- ScottMcIntyre, on 12/13/2008, -1/+11Bah humbug!
- AmyVernon, on 12/13/2008, -1/+10God bless us, every one!
- inactive, on 12/14/2008, -0/+8Depends who the old person is. If it is Robert Mugabe..
- DemiRonin, on 12/14/2008, -0/+5Wow and I just saw scrouge today... what a douche
- Spartacusprime, on 12/14/2008, -0/+5PROTIP: Punching a Santa probably is not conclusive proof of atheism, as Santa is a secular figure.
- JohnnyMarr, on 12/14/2008, -1/+6You're an idiot. "Idiot" meaning idiot.
- JohnnyMarr, on 12/14/2008, -0/+5The guy in this article?
- organicpixels, on 12/14/2008, -1/+6Someone had too much of the Christmas spirit.
- charm803, on 12/14/2008, -0/+4I just came back from a martini bar and I'm buzzed and the first thing I did was get on digg.
I will probably regret this comment in the morning, but at least I didn't call my ex.
Oh wait........dammit..... - mcapplbee, on 12/14/2008, -1/+5Who would punch an old person. Seriously.
- bmc31190, on 12/14/2008, -0/+4have you ever been stuck behind a blue hair on a 2 lane road?

- dtr300, on 12/14/2008, -0/+4That's just ***** up. I hope the attacker finds a big box of karma under his Christmas tree.
- TheMachine1, on 12/14/2008, -1/+4The real Santa's sleigh driver would have put the beat down on that bastard.
- Sirlolalot, on 12/14/2008, -0/+3I hope he finds a big box of turd under it...
- makeinstall, on 12/14/2008, -2/+5While I in no way condone the old man being assaulted, I'm weary of the report saying that the attack was "unprovoked". They were singing christmas carols that someone else thought was too loud. So little consideration is given these days to noise pollution.
The guy might have been working a nightshift and then gets woken by a bunch of smelly old tards singing worse than the first round rejects from X-factor/American Idol. I know that if I get woken up by people being noisy, especially for such crap as carol singing, I would come out of my house swearing.
The article makes no report that the guy who committed the assault might have been met with the usual 'scrooge/grinch' type abuse that people dole out when asked to restrain their 'christmas spirit' so again, it would hardly have been 'unprovoked'.
Im sure this comment will get dugg down but I really DGAF. I'm not a christian. I dont 'celebrate' christmas and I despise people who get in my face with it and then abuse me for asking them to be mindful of my beliefs. Funny how I never have to say the same to muslims, hindus, buddhists, etc that I work with. - MikeRiley, on 12/14/2008, -0/+3You would think people would leave you alone when the holiday you're celebrating promotes good will towards others.
- JohnnyMarr, on 12/14/2008, -1/+4So now atheists don't allow sarcasm?
- Mujokan, on 12/14/2008, -0/+2I'm going to go ahead and blame talk radio.

- scottysmith, on 12/14/2008, -0/+2that's the xmas spirit..NOT, what an *****
- zephc, on 12/14/2008, -0/+2I'm going to go ahead and blame the Westboro folks: http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2008/12/12/Church_want ...
- opticwind, on 12/14/2008, -0/+2"I went to A&E and they said it was a cracked sternum.
"It means I might not be able to drive my wife and daughter to see my son's newly born twins in York this Christmas."
...Ok he's 72. A) His wife could drive and since his son has kids B) The daughter is probably old enough to drive too. - inactive, on 12/14/2008, -3/+5Stick that god crap in your pointy ear elf.
- alex7575, on 12/14/2008, -4/+6You need to shut up.
What kinda loser goes on Digg after getting drunk, unless you're on Digg AND getting drunk, which means you're an even bigger loser.
You're not funny drunk, and I'm willing to bet you're not funny sober either.
Go seek help, not attention. - rogue780, on 12/14/2008, -1/+3How dare you say, "Merry Christmas!" You are so offensive.
/s - fwertz, on 12/14/2008, -0/+2This guy... [link to youtube video]
- crapuccino, on 12/14/2008, -1/+3WTF has Obama got to do with this?
Tunbridge Wells is in KENT.
KENT is in the UK.
Geography fail. - TommyHigh, on 12/14/2008, -0/+2Yup yup yup, arr hah.
- o0joshua0o, on 12/15/2008, -0/+2I didn't see the article mention that the attacker was an atheist. Maybe you're just wildly jumping to conclusions?
- matthekc, on 12/15/2008, -0/+2I think some people would like to punch Bush and Cheney
- npowel, on 12/14/2008, -0/+2Well if we're going on ridiculous stereotypes, a Scot really shouldn't be commenting on violence...
- TommyHigh, on 12/14/2008, -0/+1He doesn't believe in christmas? or *****.... one or the other.
- shumbora, on 12/16/2008, -0/+1LOL the holiday sprite in full effect .
- Mier, on 12/14/2008, -0/+1He was supposed to bring Change and Hope now he's only brought Corruption and Hate
- makeinstall, on 12/15/2008, -0/+1If you even bothered to read my comment. you would see that I had stated immediately that I in no way condone violence, so to start your comment with, "Even so, there is no excuse.....", is fairly redundant. Don't you think?
- inactive, on 12/14/2008, -1/+2You do realize you alienating me from filthy godism, yes?
- kimbja98, on 12/14/2008, -1/+2Even so, there's no excuse for violence, esp against someone so fragile. A rational person would have explained the above situation and maybe the guy+group would have moved on. Failing that, they could call the police under public nuisance laws etc but no, he took the law into his own hands.
- MikeRiley, on 12/14/2008, -0/+1It is a shame those who celebrate Christmas are now obligated to buy gifts, but they could be small and meaningful. Nobody said they had to bust you. As for me, I don't give out gifts on Christmas and expect none in return and this remains my favorite holiday. The gifts were a small part of it and anybody who opened their eyes to what Christmas was really about would understand that.
I recall a scene in Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown where the gang's bummed out and Linus stands up to explain the meaning. Give that one a watch.
But hey, I guess it's not worth celebrating a holiday where your family comes together and listens to music with the lyrics "Peace on Earth" and "Joy to the World". Better for us all to remain the bitter people we are 12 months of the year instead of 11. - gianpo, on 12/14/2008, -1/+2Hey hears an idea maybe the guy was trying to sleep and they were singing to load and when he asked them to be quite they started singing louder so the guy pushed one of them and it just happened to be in a spot were the guy just had surgery so it broke the bone. there is always two sides to every story. Now that i've said that I think the guy over reacted but I guarantee the reporter is making it sound worse than it actually was thats what reporters do they are scum bags.
- fyve, on 12/15/2008, -0/+1the story is about my Dad. Just wanted to answer your points. Thought you might appreciate getting some information as it's usually only possible to speculate on stories like this :)
a) Mum is older than Dad and not up to driving that far any more.
b) My sister has learning difficulties so won't be driving either!
From what I hear Dad seems to be mending pretty well so hopefully things will go ahead as planned. -
