- eastwood24, on 11/10/2009, -1/+53I was going to make the obligatory 'om nom nom nom' comment, but then I had a serious moment of reflection about how disturbing it would be to kill one's mother go on a drinking a gambling binge then return to the same house where she lay decomposing and begin eating her' Quite disturbing. They should just execute this guy and get it over with.
- ChronicColonic, on 11/10/2009, -1/+51"Dude, I hate your mother's guts."
"Sorry man, I don't have any thing else to eat. Got to eat what is on front of you." - Lucas123, on 11/10/2009, -0/+47FTA: "The 27-year-old was given a lenient prison sentence because the judge said he was starving and needed to eat after spending all his money on vodka and gambling machines."
Err .... umm... what do you say to that? Perhaps the judge had a rough night at the casino and was empathizing with him? - guanyin, on 11/10/2009, -1/+42 They shouldn't be to hard on him, he is an orphan. XD
- anonymousmedic, on 11/11/2009, -1/+40He's not a cannibal people. That's horrible! The politically correct term is, he's a Humanitarian.
- MacBookForMe, on 11/10/2009, -2/+34Kill him with fire!
- lolerskate, on 11/11/2009, -0/+27If the DAILYMAIL, says it true then i must be true...
- duggtodeath, on 11/11/2009, -0/+24In Soviet Russia...wait, he did what? Oh, ***** gross!
- elshanero, on 11/11/2009, -0/+20FTA: "He cooked soup and pasta with meat from his mother's body..."
I guess just plain pasta would not do. - joejitsu, on 11/11/2009, -0/+20Nobody survives for 15 years in the gulag.
- mickstephenson, on 11/11/2009, -0/+18It's clear from the article that he was being charged for murder AND cannibalism, the judge decided the cannibalism was not premeditated, and like any charge the sentence is reduced if it is determined not to be premeditated. Pretty standard stuff really if you ignore the cannibalistic context.
His murder sentence was not reduced his cannibal sentence was. - VenDrake, on 11/11/2009, -2/+17Meh. If you don't to it I will...
OM NOM NOM NOM! - MusicMagi, on 11/11/2009, -0/+13What kind of idiot is this judge? He was starving only after he spent 2 days gambling and drinking on his mother's money. Then he came back to eat her corpse along with the pasta he had in the house and you take pity on this guy? ***** you judge.
- PointGiven, on 11/11/2009, -0/+13Why is it that there is a random shooting in America every few weeks?
You get any country with a large population and disgusting things like this happen often. - mickstephenson, on 11/11/2009, -0/+13Because when you hear about something in Russia your McCarthyism derived inclination to see Russians as abnormal monstrous freaks is piqued and you associate his actions with being representative of Russians. This is a standard reaction among the populous and the populist press loves to feed it more, creating a cycle.
However when a story comes from elsewhere, ie in the US you see it in more human terms where freak individuals are to blame rather than a country and a culture. - T3hJ3hu, on 11/11/2009, -1/+13They get some crazy booze munchies over there.
- nouman1989, on 11/10/2009, -0/+12Then Eat it?
- duggtodeath, on 11/11/2009, -0/+11Leftovers.
- IvenomI, on 11/11/2009, -3/+14Om nom mom.
- Princeamor, on 11/11/2009, -0/+11"The Russian criminal code dictates 15 years in jail for his crimes..."
In Russia you can kill your mom, leave her on the porch, cook her legs and eat them and you only get 15 years? - erikarthur, on 11/11/2009, -3/+13Good God Russia is depressing
- ItsMeEmilyG, on 11/11/2009, -0/+9He didn't even bother to butcher her up right away to make himself think he was eating animal meat. For an entire MONTH, he went back and made the conscious effort to eat MORE of his mother's corpse? As in, in that month, he couldn't come up with one alternative less horrifying than going back to a frozen body of the woman who bore him to cut off another sliver, even after he said it didn't taste good?!
Apparently the collective mind of Russia's justice system needs to thaw out. Jesus ***** christ. - V1ncent, on 11/11/2009, -1/+10In Soviet Russia the drunks eat you!
- zantos420, on 11/11/2009, -0/+8hey, at least he didn't pirate an mp3 /s
- drunkirish, on 11/11/2009, -2/+10"Om nom Mom nom Mom nom Mom"
- rambomcfly, on 11/11/2009, -0/+6She was frozen. Not decomposing. So it's not THAT disturbing. Right?
- dtfinch, on 11/11/2009, -1/+614 years? Sounds like they entirely overlooked the whole murder part and sentenced him for only the cannibalism.
- DevilToo, on 11/11/2009, -0/+5The tone of this article is way to ***** casual to be about murder and cannibalism.
- anthropodeus, on 11/11/2009, -1/+6this is a terrible story.
i cant believe he called his mom fat! - Dinsdale77, on 11/11/2009, -2/+6You gotta stew what you gotta stew.
Too much? - openandshut, on 11/11/2009, -2/+6Why does it seem like I hear about this happening in Russia every few months? geez.
- mickstephenson, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4A: It's clear you haven't read the article and don't have a clue what is going on.
B: Why are you so surprised by the notion that courts give out longer sentences for premeditated crime, have you lived in a bubble all your life? You can challenge the validity of this form of judicial system but you no doubt live in a country that applies it. - Hed77, on 11/11/2009, -1/+5In Mother Russia, you don't cook for son, son cooks YOU
- diggbigwig, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4According to one source, "The defendant said this was payback for all those years of her terrible cooking!"
- patrickharsadi, on 11/11/2009, -1/+5What would they feed him in prison?
- Lavarock, on 11/11/2009, -1/+4Wow, now THAT'S an addiction. Jesus ***** Christ.
- JammoBlammo, on 11/11/2009, -0/+3I wonder if this is one of the many Russians I end up schooling on the poker site I play on. Maybe I should take it easy on them. *gag*
- MacBookForMe, on 11/10/2009, -1/+4Nope, let those fat & white worms eat him...
- Hu99, on 11/11/2009, -0/+3Too soon.
- SimonWatson, on 11/11/2009, -0/+3So if you eat the person you killed and said you didn't like the taste you get lesser sentence? awesome!
- Rantus, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2I always thought there was something wrong with Russia. This only reinforces that opinion.
- EvilJelloMan, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2Exactly. Let's all start digging articles from the American tabloids while we're at it. How does this ***** get any credibility?
- Rudegar, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2it's always parts of the body
these new "cannibal" are wuss's there are starving cannibals in Africa dammit!
:P - zip000, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2Yeah, that was the line for me.
If you've got the makings for pasta and soup, then you aren't going to go hungry...leave out Mom, OK? - openandshut, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2I suppose that makes sense that the press hypes it up more. Also I think I read both of these stories, which literally are a few months apart.

- glockman69, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1Really? Your ***** Mom? I will starve thanks...
- knifesideleft, on 11/11/2009, -1/+2The only possibly way I could even see that as a almost valid excuse is if they had been stranded on some island and eating the other person would of been the only way to live.
- candyman0804, on 11/20/2009, -0/+1fava beans and a nice chianti
