They should just execute this guy and get it over with.

  • mickstephenson, on 11/11/2009, -0/+18It's clear from the article that he was being charged for murder AND cannibalism, the judge decided the cannibalism was not premeditated, and like any charge the sentence is reduced if it is determined not to be premeditated. Pretty standard stuff really if you ignore the cannibalistic context.
    His murder sentence was not reduced his cannibal sentence was.

This is a standard reaction among the populous and the populist press loves to feed it more, creating a cycle.
    However when a story comes from elsewhere, ie in the US you see it in more human terms where freak individuals are to blame rather than a country and a culture.

For an entire MONTH, he went back and made the conscious effort to eat MORE of his mother's corpse? As in, in that month, he couldn't come up with one alternative less horrifying than going back to a frozen body of the woman who bore him to cut off another sliver, even after he said it didn't taste good?!

    B: Why are you so surprised by the notion that courts give out longer sentences for premeditated crime, have you lived in a bubble all your life? You can challenge the validity of this form of judicial system but you no doubt live in a country that applies it.
