- RSS14, on 04/25/2008, -0/+28In Soviet Russia . . . *gets shot*
- SenorGeltabz, on 04/25/2008, -10/+37This guys a jackass!
"It's not pleasant to boast about your wealth when you have inherited it but when you have made it yourself, well it is still not very nice, but it is justified," Shmarov said. - supermajic, on 04/25/2008, -4/+29*****.
- leonidas333, on 04/25/2008, -4/+23Super-wealthy people are by and large a stain on the human race but the super-rich oligarchy's in Russia take this to a whole new level. I remember seeing a doco on them where this rich ***** was crying that the Fur-coat in the window of a central store was better then hers and the irony didn't strike here that there was a homeless kid next to the building watching them.
- fkr3, on 04/25/2008, -1/+17Here's a comment:
***** off. - fkr3, on 04/25/2008, -4/+19When the majority of your country's poor as ***** it's kind of retarded to flaunt your wealth.
- jeebus, on 04/25/2008, -1/+16Nouveau riche amateur.
- estvir, on 04/25/2008, -2/+17What the hell did you hope to achieve by that comment? I've seen a ton of people go "X Diggs to frontpage?!" and I've always wondered what would possess someone to make such a stupid, useless comment.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -1/+14This guy may be rich, but if that's the best he can do with his money, he is also pathetic.
- fkr3, on 04/25/2008, -1/+14Svensko proved his point. Which I believe was that he really is retarded and it's not just a very convincing act.
- esourcemag, on 04/25/2008, -2/+15"Russia's super-rich love to flaunt their wealth. Soon they will have a magazine called Snob to help them."
Hell yes! lol Don't we all need to be snobs sometimes? heck, just yesterday I bought a new magazine called "Poor Ass MF" about living off the land and poor ass fashion and the latest in living in the gutter. - pintomp3, on 04/25/2008, -3/+14the oligarchs don't "merit their wealth" any more than the mafia do.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -3/+14We're back in the Middle Ages, folks, where conquest, repression, and theft are the ladder into aristocracy. Honest people are relegated to serfdom. You can cooperate with the criminals and reap the rewards of their crimes. Welcome to the new feudalism.
- fredmv, on 04/25/2008, -2/+12What the hell did you achieve by your comment?
- wooFmeoWoinK, on 04/25/2008, -2/+12You know, if you privatize everything, and get two friends to privatize everything, and they get two friends to privatize everything, sooner or later you are Vladimir Putin.
- elTito, on 04/25/2008, -1/+11I'm guessing he missed the memo on what happened about a hundred years ago in Russia when folks decided that the rich were getting a bit too uppity....
- retzed, on 04/25/2008, -2/+11Everything is backwards over there in russia.
- Aensland, on 04/25/2008, -0/+8If I had 22 billion I would get rid of most of it posthaste. That kind of money just paints a huge bullseye on me. ***** 22 billion... even a mere fraction of it, say 10-20 million, is enough to retire quietly on. Put half to work in investments, pay off your house and car, enjoy the rest. *****, even with a "mere" 5 million in pocket money, not to mention what you're getting each month from your investments, you can spend the rest of your life holidaying around the world.
Good luck to that guy and his magazine, his security staff probably numbers in the double digits. - RomeyRome, on 04/25/2008, -0/+7Well when you've done everything else... I suppose you can buy a midget lawyer to have in your trunk at all times.
- peevatoe, on 04/25/2008, -2/+9thats probably what i would do if i had 22 billion
- ripple123, on 04/25/2008, -0/+6He better watch it. One thing Russia is known for is bloody uprisings against the upper class...
- Authustian, on 04/25/2008, -2/+8i ***** hear you.
- commernie, on 04/25/2008, -3/+9I feel sorrier for people like you, who honestly believe they what they have came from their "hard work" and their "talent". Sorry, but 99% of it is just pure luck.
- synaesthesia, on 04/25/2008, -0/+6Skin him and wear his skin instead.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -1/+6Arrivistes and nouveau riches ... they can't buy class. They can just buy "stuff".
- BossKey, on 04/25/2008, -0/+5In the West, it's dog-eat-dog. In the East, it's the opposite!
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -4/+9What a miserable excuse for a human being.
- rjc1187, on 04/25/2008, -2/+7Wanker.
- fkr3, on 04/25/2008, -0/+5The country "as a whole" is much better off. There's still 20% living below poverty and no doubt most of the remainder aren't living that far above the line either.
- johanm, on 04/25/2008, -0/+5he could also set up a magazine for ugly people with ivan drago (rocky 4) haircuts
- craighoxton, on 04/25/2008, -0/+5All the money in the world can't buy good taste
- Aensland, on 04/25/2008, -3/+7jmpeagle... I'm fine with people working hard and getting rich. What I can't stomach is, with the state the average citizen is in, knowing that someone has $5,000 gold plated toilet seats just makes me ***** sick. Protip: you can be rich without being a ***** douchebag as well, they're not mutually inclusive.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -0/+4according to some estimates, about 60% of businesses in Russia are owned by or have to pay protection to the russian mafia. so it literally is cooperation with criminals. all of the russian oligarchs have to work with the mob, if they are not actually secretly members themselves.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -3/+7I don't know....I actually kind of respect the guy. He had nothing and was smart enough to take advantage of a smart business opportunity probably destroying families and jobs in his wake. Then he goes on to rub it in their faces by creating a magazine called "snob". There is something to be admired about that kind of balls.
- cr4ft, on 04/25/2008, -0/+4I'm sorry *****,
what the hell did you achieve by your comment? - sinurgy, on 04/25/2008, -1/+5lol @ new money...reminds me of how those hip hop "artists" suddenly get rich then go out and buy a thousand pairs of sneakers!
- pintomp3, on 04/25/2008, -0/+4i bet this douche has an email address here:
http://www.millionaires24.com/ - StolenLamp, on 04/25/2008, -2/+6***** that, 1 million is good enough for me. Hell, I'd probably take $100. Maybe just a Ham & Cheese? DEAL!
- rompom7, on 04/25/2008, -0/+4I remember when a story would make it to the front page with 30 diggs, 0 comments and no one would find it odd at all.
*grabs walking cane and hobbles away* - Yupp, on 04/25/2008, -0/+4I'm sending my butler to the newstand right now to get a copy!
... to wipe my ass with. - wooFmeoWoinK, on 04/25/2008, -0/+4Pfff, you sound like a Westinghouse.
- Homerr, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3Maybe he should call the magazine 'Douchebag' instead.
- elTito, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3Erm...well, I think it's great that you know so much about it, but I've got to tell you that it was just a joke, man.
If I'd used your version it wouldn't really have been funny =(. - commernie, on 04/25/2008, -3/+6That's just cause you're a prick. No offense...
- commernie, on 04/25/2008, -3/+6@jmpeagle
No, it's not a meaningless correlation. But I'm sure you know correlation doesn't imply causation. I'd guess that people who get good grades already come from high-income classes, which makes it easier for them to ultimately get a degree and go on to earn more money. The sad fact is that the class you are born in almost completely determines where you'll end up. There are outliers of course, but they are too few to make a difference.
As to the rural parts of the US, I don't know what to make of that. But I'm almost sure that working class citizens of urban, modern cities are not very religious at all, and they aren't making any money. - Spikito, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3Wait...so not everyone is Russia is a poor potato eating alcoholic?
- IrwinFletcher, on 04/25/2008, -1/+3He totally stole this idea from 'Colbert Platinum.'
- Elranzer, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2This guy must not have read up on the French Revolution. I expect a comment similar to "Let them eat cake" somewhere in the first issue of Snob.
