- MinaSulo, on 10/19/2007, -11/+33Good video. I really hope that Ron Paul makes it to the primaries, it would make a lot of people very happy.. and the MSM very angry (double win!)
- outlaw4freedom, on 10/10/2007, -6/+21I am working on spreading the word both here on the internet and in Real Life, to combat the "he can't win" mindset.
The only way he will win is if enough Americans hear his message. The problem is that almost no one has heard of him, and even those who have, don't care enough to look into what he is about. If they knew (and understood) how a Ron Paul presidency would benefit this country, they'd jump on the bandwagon as well. - leonidas333, on 10/10/2007, -14/+23Ok a a non- American who cares for the fate of the wider planet, I pray to go the US elects this guy
- dbhaley, on 10/19/2007, -7/+16Inevitably there will be three types of comments on this page: 1) This is just Ron Paul spam, I want more cat videos and 2) Yeah, but he is pro-life and blah and blah and 3) He will never win, get over it.
For the people in the first group, this is a community of informed, interested people who want to know more about what really matters in this country, so deal with it. Don't flame up the comment section just because you are the king of apathy. If you live in a different country, this election is almost as important as your own. It matters- I hate it too, because I really don't trust our politicians, but they have a huge influence on world affairs. So if you are sick of Ron Paul stories/videos/discussions, stay the hell away from them. It's just link, don't click and you will be fine.
For the people in the second group, is there really a politician that is 100% identical to your political views? Probably not, and I don't agree with everything Paul has said (especially abortion and separation of church and state). What you have to remember is that we have a system of checks and balances. Paul understands this, and is not going to undermine the process that protects us from unpopular ideas (e.g.- overturning Roe vs. Wade, would Congress really vote for that?). At least he has the fortitude to stand up for his unpopular beliefs. Paul is the only candidate running for President, everyone else seems to be running for emporer (surely the republicans, filling the shoes of the last emporer).
And lastly, the third group, no one pisses me off more than you people. Cheese and rice, who raised you to be such defeatists. I can hear you mother now, "If the road ahead is difficult, turn around. Anything hard isn't worth doing," and so forth. It doesn't matter if he may/may not win. If you believe in his message, stand up for it. I realize more than anyone that the odds are against him, but that just inspires me more. In life, there will always be these defeatists trying to get everyone else down because they can't hack it themselves. I'm sure there are few Paul supporters like this, but for the sake of everyone else trying to promote his message and help his campaign, shut the ***** up.
/end rant, thanks digg, that was bothering me.. - inactive, on 10/19/2007, -9/+17It seems to me that everyone wants to bury Ron Paul because of the sheer number of articles on him that make front page on Digg. Some people have even become conspiracy theorists over it. I happen to Digg most Ron Paul articles because I care about our nation. I am sick and tired of people accusing "ronbots" or other supernatural entities for an article reaching front page on Digg. Don't care about Ron Paul? Go back to your la-la land of consumerism then and keep your neck out of politics.
How about getting your priorities straight and waking up to realize that if Ron Paul doesn't get elected in the primaries, no other candidate is going to do as good of a job as he would? Our founding fathers would be _ASHAMED_ of the current state of this country.
I mean, does anyone honestly think that the other candidates have the future of the USA and preserving what few liberties we have left? - JuniorCain, on 10/19/2007, -6/+12I'm an atheist, but God bless Ron Paul.
- bctrainers, on 10/10/2007, -5/+11I find it rather funny that all the negative (in reality) comments are being dugg down, just like this one will be.
- leahcim, on 10/19/2007, -2/+6Well I wasn't going to vote for him before... but I may now.
- ahawks, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9That was ***** good.
We need that on TV. Now. If everyone could see THIS instead of Fox News marginalizing him, he'd have a very good shot at winning. - ahawks, on 10/19/2007, -4/+8Ron Paul is the first candidate I have ever seen, in my life, who gives me such hope to bring tears to my eyes.
And I used to say I didn't care about politics. - flashingcurser, on 10/19/2007, -2/+6http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1443176
He claims it wasn't written by him, that it was by a staffer and attributed to him. Does anyone find it odd that NO other racial comments from Paul can be found except one article he denounces? I find it odd too. - JonRick, on 10/19/2007, -2/+5So good, I wish I could digg twice. Ron Paul is our country's only hope.
- tamckissick, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Who the heck is running his campaign? He's only spent 2/3rds of a million and has, what, 2-4?? that he's received. Isn't it about time they start putting him in front of the public?
His message and policies are perfect, IMHO. I'm a convert from being a disenfranchised republican (don't beat me down) and I've pursuaded at least two dozen people to switch to his side. All it takes is to get to a fact based conversation and confront the emotional fear that people have. If I can change that many people's minds, imagine what is possible with double the people as now knowing about him.
To date, I've only had one idiot Bush lover that didn't think he was the best candidate. I had to concentrate on the 'how' of dumping the IRS and other depts more than he does though. Maybe they have a plan to do just that.
The other side of this fiasco we're in is the bias in the MSM. Did we forget that we're in control of that? All I need to know is the 'how' in how do we organize a large and vocal boycott of the hanity/o'reiley sponsors. There needs to be a consensus first so we can amass the most concentrated effort on whatever day we flip that switch.
It's time we organized this external support campaign better and maybe the official one will follow. - flashingcurser, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Regardless of his ability to win, choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evil. If voting my principles elects someone else, so be it. If the american people start voting with their principles, maybe politicians on both sides will start valuing principles.
- Smeed, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7But he makes sense
- dolphumous, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3It'd be nice to be proud to be an American again.
- Mark_DeRidder, on 10/19/2007, -2/+5I love that man.
- toasty168, on 10/19/2007, -1/+4but is it racism if it's true?
- TecHeavy, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3I'm a black male...and I agree with every quote that was posted. Again he is only stating the truth, not lies. Just because Im black im not going to get all bent outta shape because someone stood up and spoke truth to the people...hell my people need the truth spoken to them. In my eyes those are not racist comments only truth.
- safacles, on 10/19/2007, -7/+10To people commenting on anything being labeled as "Ron Paul" as spam: Shut up already. If you don't like it -- don't click on it. These stories are popular because PEOPLE LIKE RON PAUL. I have never voted nor been particularly political. I sure as hell never thought I'd even entertain the idea of voting for someone with an (R) next to their name. I am sure there are many other people who will Digg this story finding themselves in a similar situation. That is why these stories make it to the front page.
- leahcim, on 10/19/2007, -1/+4Once again, thank you for the information.
- Heathen531, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3It's is the same cliché routine that whenever you want smear someone’s character you equate them with being a racist or a xenophobe. I keep seeing these same quotes over and over. These all came from a single newsletter written by a rogue staffer that was commenting on statistical information and subsequently fired many years ago. In 20 years of politics Ron Paul has NEVER had anything similarly racist attributed to him other than this single newsletter that was done in his name. To try to label a man a racist because of words written years ago by a staffer who was fired after the incident is just wrong, particularly when he has never spoken such words or expressed such a viewpoint, so shut the hell up about it. Ron Paul’s economics and views on personal liberty will in contrast be of great benefit to minorities who have been bludgeoned by government policy and social engineering.
“They were never my words, but I had some moral responsibility for them . . . I actually really wanted to try to explain that it doesn’t come from me directly, but they campaign aides said that’s too confusing. ‘It appeared in your letter and your name was on that letter and therefore you have to live with it.’” -- Ron Paul
Says one source, “Ron Paul didn’t know about those comments, or know they were written under his name until much later when they were brought to his attention. There were several issues that went out with comments that he would not ordinarily make. He was angry when he saw them.” -- Free Market News - Ron Paul Smear Erased - flashingcurser, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I wonder why he doesn't run as a Libertarian? Frankly, Libertarians have always been Republicans worst nightmare. Moose party anyone? (hint google "moose party")
- CaptainNoPants, on 10/10/2007, -4/+621 Diggs in 15 hours does not equal front page.
- mikedoth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Right, like how they balanced Bush.
- noztnac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."
- Mahatma Gandhi
Go vote for Ron Paul at votenic dot com - ahawks, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4And that is the ***** beauty of the United States of America.
When the president is ***** insane, there's a congress and senate to balance it out.
That's why the president alone can't take us to war without a congressional declaration of war.
Oh.... wait... - Piedramente, on 10/18/2007, -7/+9Makes it to the primaries? They are coming up pretty fast (end of this year basically), and I don't think Paul will be going anywhere.
Now making it *past* the primaries is a different story... - stev3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Maybe if you didn't view everything as black and white, and listen to what Ron Paul is actually saying, you'd realize that not all Republicans are blood sucking vampires.
- ahawks, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4Maybe you should take a look at what he says before you close your mind so quickly.
So many people here support him because it's hard for us NOT to support him. He's the only candidate who tells the truth, answers questions directly, gets honestly worked up over issues.
Between that and the next jackass with a fake smile, hmmm... who would you trust? - saark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 I pitty America because it will never be smart enough to see the true values that Ron Paul can bring to the country. Oh well .. just another empire down the drain .. too bad for the people though ..
- Jelfish, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3I disagree. Even if he doesn't get elected president, he has already done a lot to put an intellectual and rational face to to politics, something that (at least in my generation - recent college grads) I've never truly witnessed. I think that's one of the reasons that young people are/were apathetic about politics. It all seems like an insider game, that even if you have the most reasonable of political beliefs, there exists an establishment that simply opposes it.
Ron Paul, regardless of anyone's belief in his chances at president, has already started a tidal wave of new political energy, much more than even Obama did many months ago. Finally there is a candidate that demands intellectualism, not populist praise. He respects his audience by assuming that they're rational. The Republican party needs reform, and most young repubs. know that. Even if Paul doesn't get elected, he's an important turning point in restoring the respectability of the Republican party. - SilentSpyder, on 10/10/2007, -5/+6I would prefer him over all the republicans and most of the Democrats but he still wouldn't be my top choice. Some of his policies sound too idealistic. On the other hand he does have to deal with congress and the senate so I'm sure they'll balance him out.
- Smeed, on 10/10/2007, -8/+9Hes sooo dreamy!!
- stev3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1To add on to what safacles said, you could open your eyes and realize that you don't have to be a robot to like his standpoints, just be a rational and fair person.
- Pfhreak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Teddy Roosevelt's "Bull Moose Party" was progressive, not libertarian. We agree with libertarians a lot on most personal freedom issues, but disagree on most economic issues.
Ron Paul ran as a Libertarian in the 1988 Presidential race. I think it's because of his experiences in that race that he's chosen to run as a Republican this time: the sad reality of American politics is that third party candidates don't do well at all. Roosevelt's 1912 campaign under the Progressive banner was probably the most successful, coming in second, but still well behind Woodrow Wilson. - mikedoth, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Social medicine and programs hurt the country, as they are paid for through federal taxation which he wants to abolish. So if a state wants to do it, fine but he's trying to get rid of alot of taxes that piss off Americans which is a good thing.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Well, we'll never know if his awesome policies can work or not unless he's put into office.
- tamckissick, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2That was a rant? It sounded like one of the more well thought out and tactful comments so far!
As far as the odds are too low argument goes... Doesn't anyone remember Perot? I voted for the man twice and was pretty ticked off to find out that in post polls across the country, he would have won many of them except for people saying that voting for him was diluting the R vote and forcing Clinton to win. He got, what, 19% of the vote and that's after pulling out because his family got dragged into the fight. Let's see where we stand FIRST and then decide right before the election or primaries if he CAN win. Is this so hard, people? - huckabees, on 10/19/2007, -2/+2This'll be dug down I'm sure but I don't want a saviour, I want someone who will do the least amount of damage at this point. There's no man that will save us all and bring us into utopia.
- keithburgun, on 10/19/2007, -6/+6Ron Paul is cool in a lot of ways, but guys, he's not perfect. He's against abortion and forget about socialized medicine and other social programs.
- inactive, on 10/19/2007, -4/+4There's nothing he could say that would make his supporters lose respect for him.
- saark, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0blind man ...
- saark, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0it seems that it's quite annoying to certain people that somewhat intellingent individuals that can click around the net and find true inspiration in Ron, get to really have their say on the net, and digg Ron up ... yeah ... it must be really frustrating when people vote rationally ... duh ..
P.S. that would be a swell domain : diggronup.com . voila, free inspiration :)) digg it :)) - saark, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0what can the internet do for Ron to compensate what the americans can't see/feel/hear ?
- saark, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0oh you just hate everyone else because everyone else hates you, right ? well .. you might have just found love this way .. and there's nothing you can do to fight it :))
- Overgrown, on 06/27/2008, -0/+0Im with gtr wiz, Ron Paul is the only candidate we have left to secure America as the founding fathers had designed the whole thing... taking their instructions from God.
no other constitution in the history of the world was as good as ours. they are ruining it daily. we had a good thing. its almost gone now. the reallysad this is that no one understands this and just go on their merry way being enslaved nad not realizing it. then they wonder why theyre in the mess theyre in.
HIS IDEAS SOUIND GOOD BECAUSE THEY ARE GOOD. You MAKE them work! You dont give up! damn! - saark, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0it seems that in this world politics is not for people who care ...
- saark, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0heh .. nevermind ... you found the true form of atheism :)) cheers !
- saark, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0it's because the freakin media is too busy brainwashing the regular folk .. they surely don't want someone like Ron telling it like it is ...
maybe, the internet can do something about it .. it's the last uncrontrolled outpost .. I hope ... -
