- rubixcubez, on 06/30/2009, -11/+674Well looks like I'm going to be a Buddhist. They allow fapping.
- lordwow, on 06/30/2009, -45/+620Atheism = It's all green, baby.
- dynamojoe, on 06/30/2009, -12/+511Roman Catholicism has no clear position on homosexual orientation? Really?
- Lavarock, on 06/30/2009, -12/+408They should have another row for "Talking to the opposite sex"
- jmdwinter, on 06/30/2009, -24/+346I had no idea Catholics were more dogmatic than Muslims. Go figure.
- ousthouse, on 06/30/2009, -3/+263That's what the flickr chart says.
- tmyprod, on 06/30/2009, -13/+261They would need another color for "encouraged".
- kplo, on 06/30/2009, -1/+227Then it's all aqua for you!
- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -7/+224Religion is not a prerequisite for morality.
- Samurai77, on 06/30/2009, -5/+193Buried for being wrong on many facts.
- iFrix, on 06/30/2009, -6/+190@RainyDayNinja:
I find this very amusing: you won't kill because "God" says it wrong, and that's the only reason? So if he said it's okay you would do it all the time?
You assume atheist have no values but it's you who would do all the bad stuff if only you had permission.
I don't believe in God or a punishment in the afterlife, but I still never killed anyone nor do I plan to. Because I know it's just a bad thing to do. I don't need some "God" to tell me that! - ProjectGSX, on 06/30/2009, -9/+182It specifically says "religious views". Not "cult views".
- analogkid01, on 06/30/2009, -2/+154You can do pretty much whatever with your noodly appendage.
- BaphClass, on 06/30/2009, -10/+146What about Pastafarianism?
- rocknog, on 06/30/2009, -4/+128Religion doesn't mean that people are less likely to have sex. It just means they're more likely to feel bad about it afterwards.
- jeches, on 06/30/2009, -12/+134What if you have no religion???
- bodger, on 06/30/2009, -4/+120How is that anti-religion?
- ImyK, on 06/30/2009, -7/+120The picture is pretty inaccurate.
Masturbation and Abortion are condemned (in most cases) in Islam, for example.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but Pre-Marital sex is condemned in Judaism. - wendelgee2, on 06/30/2009, -23/+136No, it's not.
You're thinking of Satanism, where the only law is "Do what thou wilt"
Atheism is more like: "Let you conscience be your guide" - DarkBlueAnt, on 06/30/2009, -0/+110Don't let the Buddhists find out that you called them a religion... and that you're only interested for fapping purposes.
- BrianJ5000, on 06/30/2009, -4/+108and another column for "jedi"
- hmunkey, on 06/30/2009, -4/+105@Rainy
This is how my moral system works.
Is it nice or a dick thing to do?
Would I like it done to me?
Would they like it done to them?
Is it fair?
I don't need to be scared ***** of some imaginary man to know right from wrong. - twiztidsinz, on 06/30/2009, -0/+100I thought that odd too, but as samhale said above:
"Nah, they don't care if you're gay, just you can't have gay sex." http://digg.com/people/Religious_Views_on_Sex_PIC? ... - drappehsmada, on 06/30/2009, -4/+102this chart needs citation
- dse78759, on 06/30/2009, -9/+105No scientology? I'd like to hear their official position on choking the trouser snake..
- xM55, on 10/02/2009, -12/+107'its'
School - you should try it. - christoast, on 06/30/2009, -8/+99Buddhism FTW (Its a philosophy, not a religion)
Anyway, pretty much everyone including atheists aren't crazy about their teens having sex. Its a personal thing. I'd like to see this chart done for different states or countries. - goldfenix, on 06/30/2009, -4/+94Catholics just have to repent all the time. They still do all the stuff everybody else does, they just have to feel bad about it.
- quedigg, on 06/30/2009, -11/+98Corrections:
In Islam
Masturbation and Abortion are NOT ALLOWED
Divorce is ALLOWED - andyb747, on 06/30/2009, -2/+88it looks photoshopped
- Imissnaptime, on 06/30/2009, -3/+88u can fap as a muslim too, just not all the time apparently.
(i think its frowned upon inside the mosque) - asnider, on 06/30/2009, -2/+86funklor - There are a number of different varieties of Buddhism, and not all of them involve any sort of deity worship. Many Buddhists are atheists.
- DarthVolta, on 06/30/2009, -9/+93I would argue that divorce is frowned on less than homosexuality for Catholics.. seriously.
- TheDigitalBug, on 06/30/2009, -4/+86Citation needed.
- DrDragun, on 06/30/2009, -4/+84Hate to ask, but... source? Some of these are definitely up to interpretation, and I'm guessing there would be more orange on the chart in many interpretations.
- jayg92, on 06/30/2009, -37/+117Roman catholics have got it bad. And are also quite the hypocrits IMO
- Alphabet, on 06/30/2009, -6/+81you make your own decisions on what is right or wrong without relying on some higher being to judge for you?
- evilregis, on 06/30/2009, -0/+75They don't condemn homosexuality so much as they condemn giving into homosexual urges. Homosexuals are just supposed to live chaste lives.
- HantuDuppy, on 06/30/2009, -2/+72Self-examination is always a threat to religion.
- Conway, on 06/30/2009, -6/+76Pope Benedict has denounced homosexuality in the past so I'm not sure why that box isn't red.
- directedition, on 06/30/2009, -0/+68I want to be the Satanist whose impulses are simply things like helping old ladies cross the street or donating to charity.
- samhale, on 06/30/2009, -4/+72Nah, they don't care if you're gay, just you can't have gay sex.
- seaofcheese, on 06/30/2009, -6/+74Keeping people in line! Are you ***** kidding me! In the name of god lets go start a war. right?
- Drax0n, on 06/30/2009, -3/+66Yea keeping people in line, like making them pretend they aren't gay or lie about masturbating.
Religion has killed more people in the history of the planet than anything else, what was religion keeping inline during the crusades? witch hunts? holy wars? oh yea they were keeping the slaves in line.. - faizal5k, on 06/30/2009, -1/+59Well, I'm Atheist, and I can do ALL of those things :)
- amolkold, on 06/30/2009, -0/+57Buried for inaccuracies and for lacking some really major religions (Hinduism?).
- rabidjester, on 06/30/2009, -2/+57Guessing he does.. at home
- InfamousAtheist, on 06/30/2009, -4/+59@rainydayninja,
"...if there is no higher authority to hold you accountable, then any value system will be inherently arbitrary..."
Epic fail. Standards of common decency and respect for your fellow human are anything but arbitrary. Just because many people are too ignorant to figure out what those standards are without some fictional deity explaining them does not mean that my values system is arbitrary. Hmunkey did a nice job of explaining it terms that even you should be able to understand.
You say that "if another human authority sets the standard, then your morality has the same problems you think mine does."
My morality standards are not based on ANOTHER human's values - they're based on my own values, which have formed over the course of 35+ years of life on earth, observing good, evil, neutral, and everything in between. My values have changed as I've grown older and wiser and have learned from mistakes.
I pity people like you, who believe that humanity is so ignorant that we all default to despicable behavior at the first opportunity. While it's true that many people DO behave that way, not everyone does, and those of us who don't have not formed our moral views based on religion. Give your fellow man a little credit now and then. We're not perfect, but we're not complete asshats all the time either. - evilregis, on 06/30/2009, -9/+63Six of one, half dozen of another.
