- Suzilla, on 09/28/2009, -0/+9Never cared at all for his politics, but his books, essays, and comments on writing and grammar are right up there with Strunk & White.
RIP, Bill, wherever you may be at. ;-) - FritoPendejo, on 09/28/2009, -0/+7How exactly are you a grammar geek? Most of your posts are full of incorrect grammar.
- Xwhy, on 09/28/2009, -0/+4That's quite a lot of grammar and punctuation mistakes that you've made. I can recommend an expert, who could help you with that problem.
- snowblind113, on 09/28/2009, -1/+4and you are worth about as much as that turd you flushed down the toilet.
- twinklyJesus, on 09/28/2009, -2/+4wow, your ignorance is inspiring.
- kara1234, on 09/28/2009, -1/+3I agree with you. Great writer, although his politics really were crude in places. He was blindly pro-Israel in a lot of his writings. Totally didn't seem to care that the Israeli settlements in the West Bank were expanding (in fact he referred to them as "courageous" villages), while the non-Jewish Palestinians Arabs who surrounded the settlements (and were often displaced to make room for the settlements) couldn't vote in Israel or another other country for that matter.

- Cainxinth, on 09/28/2009, -2/+4He came to speak to my university a few weeks before the start of the second Iraq War. He spent the entire time explaining how quick and easy it would be to remove Saddam, find the WMD, and get out. He said the whole thing would be over in a manner of months. I still have the response paper I wrote for my poli sci class. I was incredulous.
Even know nothing college kids could see the writing on the wall that a so-called political scholar was totally blind to. - OptionalPirate, on 09/28/2009, -1/+3Thanks for teaching me the finer points of how not to write, Safire. You will be missed.
- wendelgee2, on 09/28/2009, -0/+2Don't feed the troll.
- garyh10, on 09/28/2009, -1/+3One of the literary giants of my generation. Will surely miss him.
- Kakumeikeahi, on 09/28/2009, -1/+2Weird I thought I already dugg a article about this man's death, R.I.P. still.
- winelove, on 09/28/2009, -1/+2Oh let's put politics aside a minute so grammar geeks like me can say RIP.

- LilJimmyNordin, on 09/28/2009, -3/+1Safire. He can be pedantic... He can be pedantic...
- swantamer, on 09/28/2009, -9/+1His was a vastly overrated intellect and the world will be a better place in his absence. I have more regret over the turd I flushed down to the sewer this morning than over the death of this ass-of-man. N.B.: I take great pleasure that his death was from pancreatic cancer, a notoriously painful and gruesome one. Suffer in hell you miserable bastard.
- FormerBabby, on 09/28/2009, -9/+1I am still alive, I am 24.
- jayjayjoni, on 09/28/2009, -22/+4He was a conservative. So who cares?
