- EggNogIceCream, on 12/28/2007, -16/+227They should of used spike strips instead.
- naughtymonkey69, on 12/28/2007, -18/+151"...armed with two knives and a hammer. Police said the woman was swinging the weapons at family members and police....woman documented to have mental illness, was dead."
Sounds just like the game bioshock when those crazy enemies attack you...then you use the electric power to to fry them - Zetsubou, on 12/28/2007, -2/+124Can we have a taser section on Digg yet?
- Wiini, on 12/28/2007, -35/+157The family is arguing that the woman was harmless... but they called the police saying that she was trying to hurt them.
Right... - icepick314, on 12/28/2007, -8/+112couldn't they have just tip her chair over and be done with it?
- shyner, on 12/28/2007, -4/+101Tasor? Is that like some sort of awesome Taser?
- whatthefu, on 12/28/2007, -13/+86Who cares if they lived in a trailer park? Just because you're poor doesn't mean you don't matter.
- morningmatters, on 12/28/2007, -7/+66The wheelchair-bound lady was tasered ten times for over 165 seconds, it's a little wonder that resulted in a fatal heart attack. I recall the don't-tase-me-bro guy getting tasered for way less than that and he could not get up for a while.
- vspazv, on 12/28/2007, -0/+47What is a shock wheel and how does it chair someone to death?
- Djokuuskaj, on 12/28/2007, -26/+72i'm pretty sure that its been proven tasers do nothing but kill people and cause frustration..
- Mist0r_Wiggles, on 12/28/2007, -9/+54FTA "10 times for a period of like two minutes"
Should've just gotten to the point and pull out the gun then shoot her in the head ten times. That would've killed her in half the time.
Stupid noob cop. - Renton, on 12/28/2007, -7/+50The police then ran up to the woman and beat her with a monkey wrench because they didn't feel like wasting bullets.
- MasterInsan0, on 12/28/2007, -26/+62Should HAVE. SHOULD HAVE. Even if you abbreviate it, it's shoulda, which is short for should've, which is of course short for SHOULD HAVE.
"They should have used spike strips instead." - Aensland, on 12/28/2007, -2/+37Yeah, I mean what the hell, she was in a freaking wheelchair... *****, they could even have just thrown a blanket over her.
- shaelen, on 12/28/2007, -6/+38I'm sorry that those who have poor grammar are digging you down. I read a quote, somewhere, that trying to correct spelling on the Internet is like subtracting 1 from Infinity.
- adikt, on 12/28/2007, -12/+42I could care less if I get dug down but:
1. She was mentally Ill (documented)
2. She was in a wheelchair.
3. She was with/by/around her family (people who knew her)
This being the case there is NO WAY this should have happened. She should have been talked down/disarmed/shocked MAYBE ONCE to allow her doctor to inject 4mg haldol. She was obviously in an acutely agitated schizophrenic state (off her meds? who knows)
This wasn't a random crazy guy on the street. These people had all the information, time, and resources to defuse the situation without harm to anyone. Shame on the police, family, doctors, and florida's mental health services - barc0001, on 12/28/2007, -3/+30The reason we're all pissed off is that tasers are supposed to be used as a second-to-last resort right before the guns are drawn. Are you seriously telling us that if tasers didn't exist, all the people with the tasing stories going around would have been shot? Shot for asking John Kerry a question disruptively "Don't shoot me bro?" Shot for talking back to an officer? Shot for not getting insurance papers out fast enough?
How about this case, you think this woman should have been shot? She was in a wheelchair FFS. Anyone who had cop training and wasn't in a wheelchair themselves should have been able to deal with her in short order without lethal force. Just run behind her and tip her chair shoulf have fixed her wagon... - catalytica, on 12/28/2007, -9/+36The mentally unstable wheelchair bound woman called the police. For help. And they killed her. Get the story right.
- Irco, on 12/28/2007, -1/+25don't you dare bring common sense into this!...
- ShiningSquirrel, on 12/28/2007, -9/+30Read it again.
SHE called the police because she thought her sister was trying to harm her.
So of course, since she called and interrupted thier coffe break, they tased her. - pintomp3, on 12/28/2007, -1/+22how did she hold two knives and a hammer? was she durga?
- cawpin, on 12/28/2007, -2/+22You guys ever think that there's just a bunch of douchebags in Florida? Consider that.
- Wiini, on 12/28/2007, -7/+26Why is there no organized, intelligent website citing the dangers and crimes of Tazers (and statistics) and offering a petition for national restrictions on the use of tazers, and an detailed summary for when it is and isn't appropriate to use a Tazer. In fact... I'm a smart guy. If anyone is one of those proactive statistics/motivated writer kind of guys... send me an email at wiinitaze@ourbabyslife.com. We'll start it up. I'll even buy the domain.
- inactive, on 12/28/2007, -4/+23Central Floridian Police are always tazing people.
I've seen them abuse their tazers way too many times. - minimitable, on 12/28/2007, -4/+23You could use a good punch in the yambags.
- 883XL, on 12/28/2007, -0/+18yes, i too blame video games for this incident.
- Braxo, on 12/28/2007, -0/+18Holding all that stuff in your hands, and then being confined to a wheel chair, I would imagine she wasn't able to roll herself around to attack you easily.
At least I would have just stepped out of the range of her arm's until she got tired, or go upstairs for a bit. - CrazedLeper, on 12/28/2007, -2/+20very glib. How easily you discard complex issues. It must be very empty in there.
- Voltaire2, on 12/28/2007, -11/+28Wow, sounds like another incident of police incompetence... If only the people enforcing the law could be slightly more intelligent than those breaking the law. *sigh
- kkkkk, on 12/28/2007, -3/+19Tasers are great... until the police got so lazy that they use it every other day to every other 'dangerous' person.
- Vincent21212, on 12/28/2007, -4/+20I say keep reposting these stories until we get every taser off the streets! Dumb cops were more reluctant to be brutal when all they had were night sticks as an alternative.
Let me reiterate that i think there are a lot of stupid cops out there. A lot. I'd say most are ***** idiots. - Frostman3D, on 12/28/2007, -11/+27at this point, I think shooting a cop in the face if he's pointing a taser at you should be considered self defense.
- bxblox, on 12/28/2007, -0/+14i like how everyone uses perfect grammar to respond to a grammar nazi
- meells, on 12/28/2007, -2/+16Seems to me, if you were to stand behind someone in a wheelchair and just grab thier arms, they cant swing nuthin' anymore. I hope that two cops could overpower an old lady sitting down. And I have never seen anyone be able to swing thier arms effectively (with power and reach) behind thier back while sitting down. Thank God the death certificate admitted it was a homicide. They are truly, TRULY, had on this one.
- dimebags, on 12/28/2007, -1/+14police don't use tasers instead of guns, they use tasers and guns.
- statusmalus, on 12/28/2007, -1/+14Why shoot her at all?
- ondoi, on 12/28/2007, -1/+14jus so everyone one knows, opiophile is a bury on sighting. comment history will prove this person is retarded
- surian, on 12/28/2007, -0/+12it's similar to a "lasor gun"
- minimitable, on 12/28/2007, -1/+13Yeah, beastly on the part of the inept, cowardly thu...umm - cops. Did you read the article? She couldn't withstand it - she DIED. WTF is wrong with you people?
- danarama, on 12/28/2007, -0/+1210 times is abuse...with any decent training and the recent knowledge of deaths they should have known it would kill her. Therefore it's abuse and could be described as deadly assualt.
- Starkyy, on 12/28/2007, -0/+12He said he plans to file a notice to sue sometime before the end of the year.

top notch attorney. - houndeyex, on 12/28/2007, -1/+12I hacked the machine and got a discount. Take that you creepy clown of consumerism!
- jimmiss, on 12/28/2007, -1/+12She was in a wheelchair. They could have just waited until she was so tired she fell asleep. It's not like she could go very far.
- inactive, on 12/28/2007, -2/+12How do they cause frustration if they kill you first?
- parax, on 12/28/2007, -3/+13People seem to be missing the real problem here. It took almost 3 minutes worth of tasering to finish off an old lady in a wheel chair. There's no way it should take more than 3-5 seconds to end someone's life. We need to up the juice on these suckers.
/sarcasm - S1ngular1ty1, on 12/28/2007, -1/+11I'd like to see your data sources.
- laogong, on 12/28/2007, -3/+12You mean WITH impunity.
- Francky, on 12/28/2007, -3/+12That is such a stupid argument, This was not a situation where the alternative was to shoot her. Must if not all of these wrongful death never are. These death are atrocious because much simpler means of restraint would have done the job. Look at the case of the woman tasered for shouting in a store... Are you really saying "thank god for taser, cause the only other option was to shoot her" ?! Cops have become lazy *****, and instead of having to sometimes get physical, (as their job used to demand) they prefer to taze someone (not caring if they killed them) instead of physically restraining the person.
- scbysnx, on 12/28/2007, -1/+10you're right.. if you use digg as your primary source of information. Which apparently a lot of people do now.. which makes for a very scary world.
- davidjsmitty, on 12/28/2007, -0/+9Wow. I had to re-read the title for that one.

What is Digg?
