- Shaman760, on 11/10/2008, -12/+141If marijuana were legal, they'd have sat around and stared at the TV and pondered the universe or done something creative. No one would have died.
- inactive, on 11/09/2008, -32/+159This kids was an idiot. Nobody forced you to drink.
Plus, since you're under 21, you should have known that if you were going to drink, you should have done so responsibly.
Why do kids under 21 think it's a good idea to drink so much that you pass out? Only bad things can happen:
- You won't get laid, since you're passed out
- You're at a party, and people will shave off your eyebrows or write with sharpies on your face
- If the party is busted by the cops, there is no way to get away, since you're ***** passed out - cle2105, on 11/09/2008, -11/+96Darwinism. It is rediculous that marijuana is illegal while alcohol is legal. No worries, the alcohol companies will throw enough money at the press to keep this on the DL.
- KMartSheriff, on 11/10/2008, -34/+113***** frats.
- Greatn3ss, on 11/10/2008, -3/+80...
Those things happen after you're 21 too, ya know. - Chairboy, on 11/10/2008, -6/+80So, did he get in?
- immatimt, on 11/10/2008, -37/+98No tragedy!?? You're kidding, right, you ignorant piece of ***** *****.
I'm a student at UDel so let me drop some knowledge on you're dumbass. The ***** in Sigma Alpha Mu (SAMMY) split their pledges into teams of two and made each team drink a handle of vodka. Now I know that no one can make you DO anything but that is far beyond the point. After SAMMY members watched them drink the handles, they locked them in a basement to piss and puke all over each other, where he passed out and later died in an ambulance. The SAMMY ***** killed this kid, and it is certainly a tragedy. - KublaiKhan, on 11/10/2008, -12/+71Not that it's ever good when a person dies in the prime of his life, but I have trouble feeling sympathy for someone who will drink to such incredible excess in pursuit of...what? In pursuit of belonging to some group of demonstrably idiotic frat boys?
Like I said, I feel bad when this sort of thing happens just as a general sentiment but, in the end, the kid did it to himself - the frat didn't kill him, though they are just as stupid as he is nonetheless. - inactive, on 11/10/2008, -5/+61Goddamn pledges are always dyin' n *****.

- imitokay, on 11/10/2008, -5/+53stuff like this makes me sick to my stomach
Greek mentality needs a serious overhaul in some places
Im NOT saying ALL frats and sororities (yes the girls do it to), but this culture (esp. hazing) is childish, immature, and barbaric - eggsovereasy, on 11/10/2008, -2/+49It's the worst sort of hazing.
- LemonChicken, on 11/10/2008, -4/+50What the ***** kind of policy is that?
- BeShirtHappy, on 11/09/2008, -8/+53It's always so sad to hear things like this. My heart goes out to his family...
- FatLoser, on 11/10/2008, -9/+49fraternities give fraternities a bad name.
- sncshesh, on 11/10/2008, -10/+48I'm in a fraternity, and we have a strict NO DRINKING policy for our pledges.
People like this give fraternities a bad name. - brainovermind, on 11/09/2008, -16/+51Sad, but I sure am glad I never partied with an extremely drunk, horny wrestler at a frat party.
- inactive, on 11/10/2008, -6/+37Not that I am a big fan of Frats, but yours sounds like the ***** lamest one ever.
- OriginalPinkDog, on 11/10/2008, -6/+35That's a bit cold, dude. Sure, nobody can MAKE you drink yourself to death (unless it's some sort of torture situation) but he was only 18. Perhaps, had he lived, he'd have grown out of his idiocy and become a perfectly reasonable grown-up.
Lots of us did idiotic things when we were 18. Good thing we didn't all die from it. - GoKings, on 11/10/2008, -36/+61Fraternities are stupid, and allowing yourself to get hazed by a bunch of drunken bro's with their shirts off so you can feel like you're worth something is even dumber. A frat bro at my school had sex with a pledges sister, videotaped it, and then showed it during a frat meeting. Isn't that so funny? I mean, I sure want to pay to be a part of that.
- daEXpress, on 11/10/2008, -3/+24Digg makes me sick. This is an 18 year old kid that died. Show some ***** respect. The full details of the story have not even been released and so many people are writing this kid off as a waste etc etc.
As a UD student, this situation is tragic in many ways. It reflects badly on a greek community that has worked very hard to improve its image and help better the university and will surely have a huge ripple effect on the university. Meanwhile a family is left to mourn for their son who could've have had so much in front of him.
May he RIP
Digg me down and then go jerk off to stories about how Palin doesn't know Africa is a continent. - inactive, on 11/10/2008, -1/+22Not to mention when everyone grabs your cell phone and takes turns taking pictures of their dicks laying across your chin.
- SpykerSpeed, on 11/10/2008, -2/+23How did "horny" get tossed into that list of adjectives??
- LemonChicken, on 11/10/2008, -5/+25Maybe...stop drinking? I don't know, I'm just ballparking here.
- inactive, on 11/10/2008, -20/+39Way to generalize.
All fraternities are NOT equal. Yes you have the stereotypical kind that are filled with a bunch of dumb asses, and then you have really good ones who's members are campus leaders, community volunteers, and have higher average GPAs than the rest of the university.
Some of my closest friends to this day are my brothers from my undergraduate days.
I'm always amazed at the sheer ignorance you GDIs exhibit when stereotyping organizations you weren't a part of. - NotYourProdigy, on 11/10/2008, -6/+23You can't o.d. off weed!
- FatLoser, on 11/10/2008, -2/+19That's such a ridiculous, doomed, off-the-wall suggestion that, by god... it just might work. You're a god damned maverick
- onClipEvent, on 11/10/2008, -21/+36He got what he deserved for doing moronic acts to impress his peers. No tragedy here.
- NotYourProdigy, on 11/10/2008, -4/+17Smoke weed instead
- brstilson, on 11/10/2008, -12/+25wrestling is homosexual
- Rodalli, on 11/10/2008, -0/+13Whoa, whoa, whoa! Leave the barbarians out of this. Those guys were cool.
- MonteStarloz, on 11/10/2008, -3/+15why are people so ***** dumb?
- walruspanzer, on 11/10/2008, -0/+124 8 15 16 23 42
- caleone, on 11/10/2008, -9/+21It amazes me that some people find it appropriate to call a dead kid an 'idiot,' and a 'moron,' and someone that 'got what he deserved.' Really?? You really think he deserved to die? You think he's a moron, an idiot, and deserved death because he drank too much alcohol on one night of his life?? That would be like supporting the death penalty for misdemeanor offenses.
- krarks, on 11/10/2008, -1/+13Where I'm from, 19 is LEGAL AGE. K thx. /Canada
- degree, on 11/10/2008, -2/+14If marijuana were legal, they'd have drank a lot of alcohol and one dude would have died.
Marijuana's illegality does not really effect the frequency of its use in universities, ESPECIALLY for frats. they tend to have fairly steady sources for their own supply. pot doesn't/won't ever replace alcohol. they are two different substances with two different effects.
alcohol makes you rage
pot makes you chill - Jehutes, on 11/10/2008, -2/+14The one

- blinktude, on 11/10/2008, -9/+19frat = were people pay money to make artificial bro-friends
- sat0shi, on 11/10/2008, -0/+10I agree with the legalization part, but I'm not sure if I agree with prohibition of alcohol. I think that, if enjoyed responsibly, alcohol can be a wonderful social enhancer and lots of fun, with little in the way of adverse side effects. People get injured and even killed on skateboards every year, another activity which I enjoy but I don't think we should ban those either because if used responsibly they also provide us with a fun activity to do in our spare time.
Some of the "heavier" drugs out there should remain illegal yes, but I think alcohol and DEFINITELY marijuana should be legal. Unfortunately, you guys over there in America are getting closer while we're still so so far away here in Japan. A friend of mine (also a skater) has been in prison for 6 years of his life for marijuana possession. Meanwhile, three sumo wrestlers who were convicted of helping their coach beat a fellow sumo in training to the point of death got only three years behind bars. (By the way, some Russian sumo wrestlers were just caught with marijuana last year and were instantly deported and barred from sumo wrestling for life, with little deliberation. It has taken nearly 6 months for the courts to reach a decision about these three that beat a fellow human being to death.)
America isn't the only place around in need of some "change." - ceredron, on 11/10/2008, -0/+10Every time I see someone spell a word wrong in the presentation of their view, it makes me devalue their effort considerably. I realize that a spelling error is extremely minor, when compared to the view of the person in question, but it's still really, really ***** annoying.
- frieddonuts, on 11/10/2008, -1/+10Going to a school with a heavy Greek presence, I have to agree with you. These people have no idea about moderation and glorify the act of passing out. They also make life harder for the community. The area around Frat Row near my school is outraged over the constant vomit and urine in their yards, public sex, and the danger DUI's pose to their families. It's surprising that these kids don't die more often.
- imitokay, on 11/10/2008, -2/+11thats why hazing is in parenthesis... please re read my comment and think about it for two seconds
AND, he just happened to be a pledge, if your so naive as to think hazing wasn't involved ... -
