- xever2009, on 07/02/2009, -1/+34Kudo's to David Anthony for being so professional about it. If I ever need a photo shoot done I think I might give him a call.
- bixby1, on 07/02/2009, -1/+26In life, you're only as good as you are under pressure. Anthony is a class act
- A5204, on 08/13/2009, -0/+20Hey, let's not Jump to Conclusions.
- FakingFamous, on 07/02/2009, -0/+17cool photog to keep shooting. sounds like a class act
- Rollic, on 07/03/2009, -0/+15Yeah, that's effed up. Kudos to the photographer for keeping his ***** together.
- JazminMillion, on 07/04/2009, -0/+13You can believe this story if you want but that shady woman Dionna King did the exact same thing to me.
I was sent on behalf of Vibe Magazine or so I thought to cover Coachella Music Festival in LA durring April, I spent a fortune to fly to LA from my home town of Montreal and paid for all my own expenses from a car rental to food. Although I did enjoy my time in LA and Indio home of the world class music festival Coachella, It would have not been my first choice as a Vacation destination. After I got back to Montreal, that is when Dionna King ignored over 20 calls phone calls which I made to her not to mention the countless other texts and voice messages I had left King on her phone. Finally one after noon I was able to reach Dionna King over the phone when I imagine she was on the other line and she took call waiting, Dionna than realized who she was talking with and began to say she was really busy and she had been on Vacation. It seemed weird she would have me fly out to a festival in California and than ignore my calls when I am ready to hand over the assignment. King seemed surprised to be talking to me but said that my photos would not be used in the current issue, I asked why she had been ignoring my calls and asked King what I could have done to have deserved this kind of cold shoulder, I also asked King if she would put in other photo requests on my behalf for future concerts, Diona responded by saying "you need to take more initiative" Like all the story that I just described above was not enough so called initiative for Dionna.
King contacted me on Flickr where I keep my collection streaming, when Dionna first reached out to me, she did so through Flickr, here is here ACCOUNT LINK!

I almost punched my computer screen when I SAW THAT WOMAN Dionna Kings name show up on the first page of Digg. Just goes to show! - tmyprod, on 07/04/2009, -1/+13And if I ever want some home movies shot, I'll just give my good buddy Jim Cameron a call.
- MonkeyNacho, on 07/03/2009, -0/+11That sucks. Working in media, I can definitely forsee something like that going down where I work. Once word spreads of his professionalism, I hope someone else scoops him up soon.
- Korberos, on 07/04/2009, -0/+11Ever since the matrix programmers learned about multi-threading.
- superkendall, on 07/03/2009, -0/+10I'd have kept shooting too, if nothing else for the stock footage potential... at least then you have some prospect of earning money from the shoot.
Very kind of him to give the images to the poor skateboarder though. - steelreserve211, on 07/04/2009, -0/+9Let's get some extreme fajita poppers, put our "o" faces on and forget about it.
- vsujohn2, on 07/04/2009, -0/+8I bet you called it too.
- tetraelement, on 07/04/2009, -0/+7"M-My cousin's a coke HEAD."
- ghostrc, on 07/04/2009, -0/+7I got one of the last issues of Vibe a few months ago, it was completely filled with ads. The first 10 pages were all full-page ads. I wanted to buy a copy of Vibe at my local non chain liquor store, but they only sold porn magazines. They might as well sell Vibe because it had tons of porn ads in the back. There was even a transvestite ad that read "try something new, call now"
- inactive, on 07/04/2009, -1/+7Wait, wait, wait! Since when did things start happening while other things are happening!?
- ClevelandBrown, on 07/04/2009, -0/+6Good thing the guy didn't go all Christian Bale after hearing the news, kudos.
- ProfessorRiffs, on 07/04/2009, -0/+5If they don't get it they'll just have to take it with big, big grains of salt.
- EastCoastGnar, on 07/03/2009, -0/+5I wouldn't have been able to be as level-headed.
- charlie55, on 07/04/2009, -0/+4of course he did. in fact that whole post was an excuse to mention the stuff about the transvestite. he is coming out of the closet very very slowly.
- Korberos, on 07/04/2009, -2/+6This reference will go over the heads of too many diggers...
- str1fe, on 07/04/2009, -0/+3It's a more subtle one, that's for sure.
- mmembrino, on 07/03/2009, -1/+4rapher
- marmotjmarmot, on 07/04/2009, -0/+3Good evening Sir, my name is Steve....
- seanruiseil, on 07/04/2009, -0/+3Did you do all this on spec or did you have a contract with them? I can't tell from your story.
- iskin, on 07/04/2009, -0/+3Wow! Those are some pretty awesome pics! It's ***** to hear how that worked out for you.
It's surprising to think that VIBE has been around as long as it has with stories like that. - steelreserve211, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2I used to be addicted to crack but now I'm clean!
- Bolinoak, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Professionalism is hard to find these days. People are more keen to the green then they are to the trade they partake in and it's sad.
Bravo mister Anthony, bravo. - dasunst3r, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Here, folks, is a person who LOVES what he does and holds money as a less-important priority. This is professionalism I could only *hope* to *imitate*.
- Pseudo99, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2I rushed to this thread to put this comment....and you beat me to it......dugg.
- Juntistik, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Vibe sucks anyway, good riddance.
sorry to hear about the photographer and the skateboards.
and the photographer above JazminMillion (I liked your photos) - WiretapStudios, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2I had to do that to track down the responsible party from an insanely well known magazine to have them settle up for work that I did some illustrations for that was already on the stands and in my hand. That ***** sucks.
- BedPost, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Speak for yourself, I watch out for my cornhole.
- fribhey, on 07/04/2009, -1/+3why don't you ask the person who posted the exact same thing a couple hours ahead of you.
- NoNotReally, on 07/04/2009, -1/+2In a " I could act like a whining douche-bag situation".
He proved otherwise and prevailed. He is one cool guy. - nogami, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1I'm not really impressed with the studio though - sounds like they're gonna stick him with the cost for the entire session. Kudos to the photographer if he chooses to pick up the tab, but it really shouldn't be on him to cover for a company that folds.
Hopefully they can come to some sort of decent arrangement. - jordanlgta, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1You are so cool and professional. Can I see you naked?
- jprez, on 07/04/2009, -1/+2what the ***** is vibe?
- diemunkiesdie, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1So...no one is going to be kind enough to explain this for those who don't get it?
- Korberos, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1@diemunkiesdie - If you don't get it by now, just leave Digg.
- sunflower19020, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1This is a real artist at work
- WiretapStudios, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1The Source gave this story 5 mics.
- macmcraeart, on 07/03/2009, -2/+2.... william munny in unforgiven.
- getoffmybridge, on 07/04/2009, -1/+1Why don't you blow me? Yeah, thanks.
- eaeleven, on 07/04/2009, -0/+0David Anthony is stupid ass and a mediocre photographer- who do you think has been shooting for a magazine that has been known to be going down for a while.
- Brooklynewbie, on 07/12/2009, -0/+0That really sucks. Your photos are beautiful btw. I saw put the word out so that no one else gets scammed by this D. King person.
- eaeleven, on 07/04/2009, -0/+0As far as David Anthony goes- fate is not without a sense of irony- he got what he deserves.
Mediocre photographer and an ass- don't pity him people! - photogirl17, on 07/11/2009, -0/+0I came to know David Anthony 1st when he was asked by Columbia College to speak to the graduating Photography class and 2nd, when I was lucky to be a 4th Assistant on a shoot for Harper's Bazaar. This situation with Vibe is something every photographer at David's level will encounter at some point in their career. It's just the nature of the industry. Regardless of how tight a shoot contract is, a magazine and/or a client STILL can fold. This was a commissioned assignment (his first for Vibe), and magazines can file for bankruptcy protection and STILL publish issues. David is VERY professional, hard-working, and a "no *****" kind of person. At the very least, he would complete the assignment. He had a contract to fulfill, which had been signed. In the end, the Marketing Company which handles the skateboarder's sponsorship contracts paid David 5 figures to purchase all usage rights to the photos, with David still retaining copyright ownership. David has been under contract with Conde Nast (shooting German & Italian Vogue, and Italian Vanity Fair) since 2000. He has also been under contract to Hearst (Harper's Bazaar & Marie Claire) since 2001. He must be doing something right!! As for eaelven's comments: David was shooting his 1st campaign for Z. Cavaricci when YOU were 5 years old and still picking your nose and crapping your pants (your profile says you are 23). What happened? He turn you down for assisting and/or "being a model"??? WHEN you have acheived what David has in the industry, THEN your mediocre opinion MIGHT matter. David's work is in galleries around the world, and his work is published in numerous international publications. He has shot many high-profile ad campaigns. WHAT have YOU done???
- shagg187, on 07/04/2009, -3/+1Define "going all Christian Bale".

What is Digg?
