- anxdiety, on 01/14/2009, -4/+84More proof religion is backwards. Normally drunk women are good.
- Tomboys, on 01/14/2009, -9/+87Thank God I'm not a Muslim woman living under Sharia Law. I'd have been killed long ago. There is no way I could ever live being oppressed by men. Or anyone for that matter. I'd rather be dead.
- kd420, on 01/14/2009, -6/+59Their laws and rules regarding women are unbelievable. Yesterday on the news I was watching coverage from the Gaza conflict, and it showed a women with a child in her arms running to a hospital. They were both bloodied, but I was amazed that a man behind her (probably her husband) was trying to make sure her head scarf was pulled all the way up! I could not believe that even in times like that, someone could be so adamant about following these ridiculous rules.
- borez, on 01/14/2009, -7/+46I like your boobies.
- blqysmg, on 01/14/2009, -2/+34Oddly enough, the oppression is often self-imposed. Many of the worst oppressors of women are other women. Just remember that there are asshats of all genders. And yes, I think many of the world religions are blinded by some odd idea that women are not equal to men.
BTW, I hate being oppressed by men, too. And also by women. - lumaga, on 01/14/2009, -2/+33Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.
- Jeepinator, on 01/14/2009, -1/+31Her husband probably didn't care. He probably only did it for fear that other men may care.
Muslim men blame women for their lust, so they make women cover up. If a woman exposes too much and a man could presumably have lustful thoughts, it is the woman's fault. The fact that these men don't know how to practice restraint on their own thoughts is funny. - Chahrlie5, on 01/14/2009, -5/+34What a great peace loving religion that sees women as equals. /SARCASM
- Shaggy3, on 01/14/2009, -1/+29This is what happens when you put the words 'religious' and 'court' together.
- Dankenbring, on 01/14/2009, -11/+36go make me a sandwich
- inactive, on 01/14/2009, -13/+34lol ***** muslims crack me up.
- j1ggy, on 01/14/2009, -2/+22And people think I'm crazy for being an athiest.
- angel.wardriver, on 01/14/2009, -2/+21Wonder what the back-story to this is; why these women were singled out? The article mentioned controversial edicts "one over tomboyish behaviour by women and the other concerning the practice of yoga." Tomboy yoga practicers who dared to drink beer?
- blqysmg, on 01/14/2009, -0/+18based on the Miracle of Yeast, I'm creating a new religion. God created yeast, who's sole purpose is to eat sugar and piss booze, all for our enjoyment. Our sacraments are simple, you must drink an alcoholic beverage at least once a day, and celebrate with special vintages on our holy days.
After all, God in his infinite wisdom sent Jesus down to Earth to supply wine to a wedding. He did other things as well, but His first (and possibly greatest) miracle was to turn huge amounts of water into wine so the guests at the wedding could get properly drunk. - redskyformiles, on 01/14/2009, -1/+17yet another reason why the words "religious court" should never be paired together.
- rodon, on 01/14/2009, -1/+17I hope it was some damn good beer.
- docholoday, on 01/14/2009, -1/+16Sharia law is totally insane... and radical Islam doesn't understand why it doesn't catch on and spread across the globe. Geez. Just try and pull that ***** in someplace like Milwaukee or, I dunno, Ireland. Best of luck fellas. You go ahead and try and spread your message, and you can pry my beer out of my cold dead fingers.

- drunkjack, on 01/14/2009, -3/+17Any religion that denies man's best friends (booze and dogs) is evil in my book.
- torrenterror, on 01/14/2009, -0/+14@ lemur "Considering that believing and practicing Islam is a personal choice...If you or anyone does not like to be Muslim, you are free to not be Muslim"
Possibly true in your My Little Pony world; but categorically untrue in Malaysia!
- redwolfwalker, on 01/14/2009, -1/+14Let's all sit down with a beer and drink to peace or until we fall off the bar stool
- Jeepinator, on 01/14/2009, -0/+12No, it was a Keystone Light unfortunately.
- hoist0that0rag, on 01/14/2009, -1/+13business as usual in Muslim countries.
- lyssword, on 01/14/2009, -0/+11yes, be a non-muslim when by LAW you are forced to be a muslim if you're born malay
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Article_160_of_the_Co ...
Yes, you are free to choose your religion. Unless you were born malaysian.
Also "Although the Malaysian constitution theoretically guarantees religious freedom, in practice the situation is restricted. Additionally, all non-Muslims who marry a Muslim must renounce their religion and convert to Islam. Meanwhile, non-Muslims experience restrictions in activities such as construction of religious buildings and the celebration of certain religious events in some states."
***** apologists... - thinsoldier, on 01/14/2009, -3/+14Why are there different levels of modesty for men & women? Why don't men have to cover their heads and faces?
- pintomp3, on 01/14/2009, -2/+13This is why separation of church and state is so important.
- NSResponder, on 01/14/2009, -2/+13The saddest part of this story is that it shows how Malaysia is degenerating into a Wahabbi colony. Saudi imperialism is a powerful force in southeast Asia, and it's going to leave a lot of people dead or destitute before it burns itself out.
-jcr - DirectTulip, on 01/14/2009, -3/+14Idiotic...

***** apologists... - billraydrums, on 01/14/2009, -3/+13Can we start caning belligerent drunk ***** here in the states?
- lemur, on 01/14/2009, -2/+12Your comment is humorously nonsensical because ostensibly this Malaysian law applies to men and women equally. Inequality would be letting her off the hook because she's a woman. If you're going to complain about anything, then complain why it's a crime in Malaysia for Muslims to drink.
- Saitekc, on 01/14/2009, -3/+13Oh religion, you're so silly.
- dtfinch, on 01/14/2009, -0/+9I heard it's near impossible to be declared a non-Muslim if you're born to Muslim parents in Malaysia. And you probably wouldn't want to, because at minimum you'd lose your citizenship.
- shadows88, on 01/14/2009, -1/+10Funnily enough, I used to live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Had my first beer there while at a country club with a friend. We were both 13, but I guess it was OK since I'm not Muslim.
- Tomboys, on 01/14/2009, -0/+9Where can I sign up?
- inactive, on 01/14/2009, -1/+10No, it's so crazy ass-backwards religio-tards can't enforce their imaginary friend's rules.
- serif69, on 01/14/2009, -2/+11That sounds like a tag line from an old sci-fi movie trailer.
TOMBOY YOGA PRACTICERS WHO DARED TO DRINK BEER!!!
THRILLS!! EXCITEMENT!! MONSTERS GALORE!! - itstodd, on 01/14/2009, -5/+14is this why the left is trying to save that culture?
- Mushroonaut, on 01/14/2009, -2/+10I´m fed up with the stupidity of Islam.
- fuse13, on 01/14/2009, -0/+8it is illegal for Muslims to drink beer.
- Tomboys, on 01/14/2009, -4/+12Yeah. That's why I wrote "or anyone for that matter." To cover all gender basis.
- Saitekc, on 01/14/2009, -0/+8Haha, same here
- protonone, on 01/14/2009, -0/+8It's obviously because beer makes women fat.
- DeViLFoX, on 01/14/2009, -0/+8Cause there are non-muslims who CAN drink alcohol there?
- Hetman, on 01/14/2009, -0/+8If I had to live under sharia law I would be trying my harderst to get out of that country. I am talking building boats, cars, swimming, jumping, running, climbing through deserts forests oceans mountains or anything else that stood in my way. I would rather die of exposure than live under sharia law.
- Jeepinator, on 01/15/2009, -0/+8The woman is punished more severely than the man. Islam is a man's religion and it oppresses women. I am not a bigot. My thoughts on Islam are accurate and are shown to be true almost daily.
- Fudgefactor7, on 01/14/2009, -3/+11This is the kind of crap when religion becomes a state or a state becomes a religion. Same thing would happen in the USA if the christian right-wing were to come into power. Just goes to show you: invisible sky wizards can make you do silly things.
- bitterbug, on 01/14/2009, -0/+8"120 million of us place the big bang 2,500 years after the Babylonians and Sumerians learned to brew beer." - Sam Harris
