I'm not sure about the owls, but I for one prefer not have to have a 5 minute fight between life and death every time I'm looking for food.

And I agree that the whole thing looked heavily staged and edited.
It's pretty hard for a reptile to win in a fight like that. Since they are cold blooded,they don't have the ability to just keep going and going and going like a warm blooded predator does.
