- michaelpinto, on 01/04/2009, -18/+487But Jesus couldn't have read the Bible! At least the New Testament parts...
- MentalRay, on 01/04/2009, -8/+334This has to be the least violent way to follow a religion:)
- AmyVernon, on 01/04/2009, -14/+264I have to respect this man for practicing (literally) what he preached. It's one thing to say you believe in Jesus and his teachings and another entirely to devote yourself to following them for a year. I'm intrigued by his decision to vote for Obama, too.
- bnasley, on 01/05/2009, -4/+214at least it ended better for the pastor

What would Jesus drink? - JesusTeaseUs, on 01/05/2009, -5/+181I did that, and now there is very little crime in my home town. Highly recommend it.
- michelsonmorley, on 01/04/2009, -4/+168Maybe this pastor ordered water and made the best wine ever?
- Rassa, on 01/04/2009, -19/+174Can't wait for the Christians er Republicans see this guy voted for Obama. Should be entertaining reading. I can see it now "Jesus would never vote for a democrat!"
- geoffp, on 01/05/2009, -1/+155He'brew, the chosen beer.
- YvesKlein, on 01/05/2009, -2/+142Isn't that what Christians are suppose to do anyway?
- emailowndme, on 01/05/2009, -15/+154Jesus was as socialist as they come :)
- MadKennyP, on 01/05/2009, -4/+139He got an early draft.
- orlyfactor, on 01/05/2009, -10/+118A Bloody Mary, of course!
- max420, on 01/05/2009, -5/+110I am a self-proclaimed atheist, but I still think it's cool to see this guy, actually practice what he preached.
- teemingvoid, on 01/05/2009, -4/+91so he lived a year as a jew?
- HotDiggityDugs, on 01/05/2009, -22/+109I'm a Christian and a conservative - and although I live in Canada and can't vote, I would have chosen Obama over McCain. I'm sure any level minded Christian could see past all the Republican, Maverick, Sarah Palin BS and see that Obama and Biden were two intelligent and qualified people who were best suited for the job.
- FoxtrotYankee, on 01/05/2009, -102/+185Interesting. Living a year as an imaginary friend would have you live.
I think I'll spend the next 365 days living like Batman. - TheCooler72, on 01/05/2009, -4/+84Jesus couldn't have voted, either. The guy did what he thought Jesus would have done.
- inactive, on 01/05/2009, -2/+80And he'd often stop to ask himself, "What would I do?"

- davewashere, on 01/05/2009, -13/+88"he did not shave, ate kosher, observed the Sabbath and read through the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John every week. "
So Jesus would have sat around reading what are essentially short biographies about himself? What a jerk. - pintomp3, on 01/05/2009, -2/+69Most religions are egalitarian, at least in theory. The American Protestant "me first, screw you" is a rather recent shift.
"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." (Matthew 19:24) - bob_the_alien, on 01/05/2009, -4/+68Well, not all Christians are Republicans, I am a Christian, I consider myself a Libertarian and while I happen to actually be registered republican, that's only because, in the county I live in, very few other parties run, so if I'm not registered Republican, I really don't get a say on who is elected, unless I've voted in the primaries. (only pointed this out, because I know it doesn't work this way in some states)
Anyway, I voted for Obama as well. I also believe that War is completely against the teachings of Christ. The Republican Candidate that really burnt my cigar was Mike Huckabee. When a supposed Christian Preacher stands up and supports War instead of Peace, I really do not believe him to be much of a Preacher. If more Christians actually read their Bibles and tried to follow the teachings of Christ, you wouldn't have as many others looking down upon us. - pintomp3, on 01/05/2009, -5/+67Their collective heads would explode if they realized he was for separation of church and state:
"Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's,and to God, the things that are God's." - NathanielJ, on 01/05/2009, -3/+61I'm amazed that no one said this earlier.
- iatethecake, on 01/04/2009, -3/+58Well I commend him for his devotion because my New Year resolutions wouldn't make it through this month most likely...
- Eivo, on 01/05/2009, -13/+68Did this man keep his house, his job, and his family? If yes, then he failed.
Mark 10:21
Luke 14:25-27
Maybe he just missed those verses by accident. - Linake, on 01/05/2009, -2/+56@Gutterpunk
He kept a daily blog. - EricAnderton, on 01/05/2009, -1/+55Anyone else want to join me? I'm off to raid the local sporting goods store.

- Dumbledorito, on 01/05/2009, -0/+50"Hey, I voted for Pontius Pilate because he seemed like someone I could have a flagon of wine with."
- DontTreadOnMike, on 01/05/2009, -7/+56I don't think Jesus would have voted at all.
- humperdeath, on 01/05/2009, -0/+45Hope he doesn't have any plans after Easter. . . .
- max420, on 01/05/2009, -0/+42Breaking news: Man who spends an entire year living like Ghengis Khan, has been sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of parole.

- Rally603, on 01/05/2009, -1/+41too soon
- alevel27mage, on 01/05/2009, -10/+48I don't think you understand those verses.
The first, Mark 10:21, talks of a man who comes to Jesus, saying that he will follow Him. Jesus knows his true heart, and says, "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." because he knows the man treasures his possessions more than God. Just because this is true for this one man, does not make it true for all men. Some of us need to give up drinking, pornography, lies, gambling, even our friends and family, which goes with the next verse.
Luke 14:25-27 is not a command to go and hate everything you love. The command is that we must hold God above all things, including good relationships that we have on earth.
I realize that you are probably just a troll quoting scripture out of context or with incorrect observances, but hopefully this post can help others understand those two passages of scripture better. - Gutterpunk, on 01/05/2009, -5/+42He *was* the early draft
He probably just sat there, reading what he had done in the few days before. - Smaulz, on 01/05/2009, -4/+41While I wouldn't go so far as to say, "most Christians", I would agree however, that a great deal TOO many are ignorant and hypocritical. Like they say, "I love Jesus, just can't stand his fan club". (And yeah, I'm about as hardcore a Christian as they come).
- vwerf, on 01/05/2009, -74/+110I definitely don't think he is a Christian, most Christians are ignorant and hypocritical. He is however a great follower of Jesus...unlike Christians
- vwerf, on 01/05/2009, -7/+42Irish Car Bomb
/Sad Sarcasm - Asrrin29, on 01/05/2009, -3/+37 "If a man fathers a hundred children and lives many years, however many they be, but his soul is not satisfied with good things, and he does not even have a proper burial, then I say, `Better the miscarriage than he, for it comes in futility and goes into obscurity; and its name is covered in obscurity. It never sees the sun and it never knows anything; it is better off than he.'"
Ecclesiastes 6:3-5 - vinceislegend, on 01/05/2009, -28/+62Jesus was not imaginary. You can argue against the case of God, perhaps, but there is actual evidence that Jesus, as a human being, existed at one point in time.
I get it, though. You were trying to be clever. - ferkranus, on 01/05/2009, -0/+33"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."-Ghandi
- oldhick, on 01/05/2009, -1/+34Luckily Obama doesn't support murdering babies!
- MikeMitchell, on 01/05/2009, -0/+33I figured he was reading those books to remind himself how Jesus would act.....
