- uisignorant, on 07/09/2009, -27/+298Where is Sharpton and Jackson?
Where are the "White" leaders protesting?
When do the boycotts start?
Oh wait, they are white. They must be racist and started it.
There will be no hate crime, blacks can't commit hate crimes don't you know. - ObamaFTL, on 07/09/2009, -40/+213If this is true imagine what would be happening right now in Akron if it were 50 white boys attacking a black family...
Sharpton and Jackson would be shoving each other to get in front of the camera
There would be no question that this was a hate crime
Maxine Waters and the Congressional Black Caucus would be demanding an investigation into their families, their schools, their friends, and their political leanings
Obama would blame Bush
Hundreds of black lawyers would be handing out business cards to the victims
More blacks would be pouring out of the woodwork saying they were attacked by them too
The state run media would be covering this like stink on $hit.
When will non blacks realize as long as we let crap like this happen they will always try to take advantage of the situation? Not only exploit whites, but Asians, Jews, and any other minority that "don't be respecting them" - BigVi, on 07/09/2009, -14/+141Its only a racist/hate crime attack when the perpetrator is white. When are people going to learn that?
- lindenwold, on 07/09/2009, -19/+14660 kids are not invited back to a pool in Philly - national story - social outrage!!
dozens of black kids jump a white family - saying that the world belongs to blacks or some ***** - NOBODY CARES.
yeah, this country has a very long way to go - we're not even close. - rda1441, on 07/09/2009, -28/+122This is why I do NOT leave the house without the sidearm.
If one of the victims, instead of running into the fray to get beaten, had the option to at least fire a warning shot, or at best shoot one or two of these punks, it would have scattered the group of cowards. - Landthatilove, on 07/09/2009, -15/+103FTA: "Akron police say they aren't ready to call it a hate crime"
Really? How do they get "ready" to do that? - Spuy767, on 07/09/2009, -3/+75A few years back a kid who was probably 17 or younger comes up to me when i'm getting to my apartment late one night as I'm checking my mail and draws what must have been a boy scout issue pocket knife on me demanding that I hand over my laptop. He quickly revised his plan into something along the lines of "*****" when he found himself staring down the barrel of my 1911. Guns do not have to be used to be effective. The mere possibilty of a gunshot wound will make even the hardest thug re-evaluate his stance.
- existing, on 07/09/2009, -14/+77This proves that the very idea of 'hate crime' is insidious and rotten to the core. Not only because it is an attempt to control thought and speech, but because these laws are selectively enforced, with only certain groups enjoying extra and/or special protection.
Every law concerning 'hate crime' should be stricken from the books. - labuzan, on 07/09/2009, -27/+89One day after the Philadelphia swimming pool incident that made the front page of Digg. Except this one involves violence, and the resulting response of the lemming Digg crowd is to ignore the story.
- friday1970, on 07/09/2009, -5/+54What are you trying to say? Two wrongs makes a right? Are you that retarded? The pool incident was horrible, but at least no one got hurt. Here we had a bunch of teens ASSAULTING innocent bystanders, stating "This is a black world". And you don't find that offensive or racists?
What is wrong with you? - inactive, on 07/09/2009, -62/+109Change we can believe in.
- Spuy767, on 07/09/2009, -5/+51A couple of shots fired into the air would likely have dispersed this crowd of thugs very quickly.
- ObamaFTL, on 07/09/2009, -26/+72OH and one more thing...
This is the reason you shouldn't be out at night without a gun... - professor357, on 07/09/2009, -18/+63Remember the voter intimidation event which also occurred in Philadelphia, in which a couple of the New Black Panthers, all dressed up in military gear and carrying batons, intimidated white voters during the Presidential election? They were found guilty, but the Obama Administration's "Justice" Department, under the leadership of black Eric Holder, refused to sign the document to enforce the verdict. Those two young black thugs went free. So much for prosecuting voter intimidation. So much for protecting voter rights.
Is it any wonder that this mob of young black teens don't fear prosecution for assault and battery, forget the "hate crime" aspects. - mollydog12, on 07/09/2009, -3/+46we're moving in the wrong direction.
- friday1970, on 07/09/2009, -11/+53We had the same kind of violence here in Mt Clemens, Michigan. Same thing, Dozens of black youths ganged up on innocent, white, passerby motorists. Some of the victims were assaulted as they reached for a convenience store door. Just as with this story, the local authorities refused to call this a hate crime when it clearly was.
I contacted the sheriff's office and tried to get an answer as to why they stayed silent about calling this a hate crime, and silence was their reply. Because they are paid with government dollars, they will always decide with political correctness and not with common sense.
More info at: http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/16461498/detail ... - existing, on 07/09/2009, -10/+51Don't forget conservative talk radio...uh, excuse me...right-wing hate-mongers...that would be accused of fomenting 'violence' with 'hate speech'.
- tpmidd, on 07/09/2009, -16/+57"He created a comfort level, where people that felt they were separate became interconnected with his music. ... Those young kids grew up from being teenage, comfortable fans of Michael's to being 40 years old and being comfortable to vote for a person of color to be the president of the United States of America. Michael did that. Michael made us love each other. Michael taught us to stand with each other." - The Rev. Al Sharpton.@ Michael Jackson's memorial Service.
I wonder when the race bating, white hating, gang banger scum Reverend Al will make a comment on this group. I'm not holding my breath. - mnocket, on 07/09/2009, -4/+45Using one example of bad behavior to justify another is just... just... mentally weak.
- RichT711, on 07/09/2009, -8/+47Where are the "White" leaders? What politician is going to stand up for a white person against a black person only so they can have Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson label them a racist for the rest of their political career?
- jammies, on 07/09/2009, -14/+53This is just an outgrowth of the victim mentality.....you are always a victim of a "hate crime" if you are a member of an approved "minority", but NEVER if you don't fall into one of the politcially-correct "protected classes".....
These black thugs saying this stuff are every bit as guilty of a racial hate crime as members of the KKK would be if they did this to a black family!!
Brings to mind the day I crossed the street in a small California town and encounted a black "gangsta" type coming toward me. Although I hadn't said or done anything to this guy, and had never seen him before, as I passed him, I got treated to the words, "I'd sure like to f*^* me a white bitch!" as I passed him.
Needless to say, I kept on walking and didn't even BOTHER to report this to anyone. I already KNEW that no attention would be paid to any such report, as "BLACKS CAN'T BE PREJUDICED"......I'd been told THAT where I worked after speaking up to 3 black co workers who were telling each other that it was "much easier to wait on black customers, because whites made them feel like they were 'catering to the Man' when they 'waited on' them"! My boss told me that I had "to be more sensitive about where THEY were "coming from"!!!
NO "counseling" was ever given to them, but I got "counseled" on being more "sensitive'"! - chriskzoo, on 07/09/2009, -32/+68Guys, these kids were attacking that family, not because they were white, but because of what white people have done to THEM - it's an "angst crime" not a hate crime.
/s - ObamaFTL, on 07/09/2009, -3/+38Comparing this to the Philly story is like comparing apples and oranges. The Philly pool club is PRIVATE and can make the rules for their club as they see fit. If they want to be a bunch of racists then they have that right.
This is about about a bunch of racist criminals who attacked a family. The ONLY similarity is the racism. PERIOD - mollydog12, on 07/09/2009, -6/+38you should have shot him. think of the rest of us.
- DesertDad, on 07/09/2009, -5/+37Apparently the definition of post-racial America is that minority racists can get away with pounding anyone like a post. What recourse is left if government cannot protect and will not seek remedy?
- mollydog12, on 07/09/2009, -2/+33lane.
the shame is the law won't protect so we have to protect ourselves. this type of violence is encouraged in today's culture. - mediabias, on 07/09/2009, -11/+41At least it wasn't a "hate crime"!
That would be REALLY bad. - mrpetey, on 07/09/2009, -3/+33Well he will - telling us how the white family created a zone of discomfort and the ghetto thugs felt intimidated so they had no choice but to beat the ***** out of them.
- doctechnical, on 07/09/2009, -5/+35I believe Mr. Heinlein put it best when he said "An armed society is a polite society". A better argument for concealed carry I couldn't make.
- alais, on 07/09/2009, -5/+35I guess they're waiting for these gentlemen to profess their hatred in a more comfortable environment and in the presence of a lawyer.
- mollydog12, on 07/09/2009, -13/+43nothing has changed. the double standard has existed for a number of decades.
bammo has just deified it to the level of a virtue. - mdhenshaw, on 07/09/2009, -1/+31If this is true this is a far more disturbing incident.
- siszam, on 07/09/2009, -17/+47This kind of thing happens all the time and never makes the news. I'm white and grew up in a neighborhood that quickly became almost all black. Even as an elementary student I remember having to fight or run home from school because every day a group of black kids would try to jump me. Never one, always several at a time. Black parents would lean down and whisper to their little kids and the kid would scream out honkey or cracker or white bitch. I couldn't play in my front yard or ride my bike without them throwing bricks or rocks at me or jumping me. This was in the south where supposedly white people are the racists.
But it was always ok to pick on the white kid. That's not racism. Yeah right. This is nothing new. It's a shame that parents would actually teach their children to hate someone based on their race. - gianttoolbox11, on 07/09/2009, -21/+49Why is it that a similar story about a club kicking black people out of a pool skyrockets to the front page and this story gets labeled as "garbage from Drudge." Both are acts of racism, this one being worse because it turned violent.
Digg, your hypocrisy tastes delicious. - djexplosive, on 07/09/2009, -12/+40PLEASE EMAIL OR CALL THE AKRON POLICE, THIS IS RACIALLY MOTIVATED

EDaugherty@ci.akron.oh.us - JimintheOC, on 07/09/2009, -7/+33That is a crock of *****. This family was attacked because they are white, no other reason. It was a HATE CRIME.
- keraneuology, on 07/09/2009, -3/+28A couple of shots fired into the terrorists would have dispersed the crowd even more quickly and would have provided bodies to use as a starting point for the others.
Federal code (Section 2331 of title 18, United States Code) defines domestic terrorism as:
acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State ... appear to be intended ... to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
A group of sub-human animals were clearly intending to intimidate a civilian population. They fit every word of the definition of domestic terrorists and should be treated as such. - inactive, on 07/09/2009, -3/+28Firing in to the air would have been an incredibly irresponsible use of a firearm. Firing in to the air would have needlessly risked innocent bystanders (what goes up must come down). When you discharge a firearm you only do so while aiming at the center mass of the target. These people's lives were in immediate danger. They had every right to use lethal force against their attackers.
- rjc5056, on 07/10/2009, -3/+28How the ***** is this Obama's fault?!
- zacharytelschow, on 07/09/2009, -4/+28Doesn't every violent crime require that the attacker hate the victim? Crimes aren't like boxing, where two random guys beat the hell out of one another.
- sprucehill, on 07/09/2009, -19/+43My advice to this family is: 1. Buy a gun. 2. Learn to shoot it so they don't miss what they aim at. 3. Join the NRA.
- Tatonka49, on 07/10/2009, -3/+27Lets see 12.7% of the population..........56% of crimes committed......hm hmhmhmh
- RichT711, on 07/10/2009, -9/+33you mean so long as they are also straight and christian.
- inactive, on 07/09/2009, -23/+46What the hell does a random crime in Ohio have to do with Obama?
- Havoc67, on 07/09/2009, -15/+38Will I be called a racist if I saw "of course it wasn't a hate crime because this was black on white...it is only a hate crime if it is white on [fill in minority here]"
I wonder if Sharpton or Jackson will come to the aid of the victims? Yeh right... - Hangingtree, on 07/09/2009, -11/+34This is a white world! This is a white world!
just doesn't seem as politically correct and socially acceptable when it is said that way does it? - mollydog12, on 07/09/2009, -4/+27joe biden said we are just "misreading" their motivations.
sharpton has convened a press conference to praise them as community defenders. apparently several, even at their tender ages, are outstanding parents. - Ajajadude, on 07/10/2009, -3/+26So, it's Obama's fault that there are racist black people in the world? Must be all of us white boys who are to blame for MLK's death and the KKK.
- Landthatilove, on 07/09/2009, -5/+27The only segregationists that remain in "the South", are not white.
- skinny01, on 07/10/2009, -0/+21Unless you happen to be a law abiding person such as myself who also needs to protect himself the same as you, but since I happen to be black I'll be instantly accused of being a thug or gangbanger if any of you see me with it and will go to jail or be shot by the police.
Don't let the ignorance of some people trick you into thinking that's a trait of all or most of the people that just happen to look the same. Should I hate all white people and call of them prejudice since all of the cops that have harassed me for no reason and pulled their weapons on me, every person who's called me a racial slur while driving by, and every boss that's ever fired me just happened to be white.
There are ignorant people of all races. It'll probably surprise you but as a black man, statistically I'm more likely to get beat up or shot by another black guy than any white guy ever will. -
