- Protonz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+45The segment was pretty predictable except for the last part about Fox news actually changing their online transcripts of the past show to cover up what O'Reilly actually said. Orwellian indeed.

- lava, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20was that Stewie narrating the intro?
- samnmax, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21I'm not sure O'Reilly was wrong about there being an American led massacre after the Malmedy massacre (his fixed version, not his original version claiming the US caused the Malmedy massacre), however a person who rewrites his own history isn't someone you want to go to for historical facts.
However, Bill O'Reilly sees a blessing in this supposed massacre. He figures because Americans did it during WW2, that makes it a-okay, and he has no problem with that. But damn the company that says 'Happy Holidays' instead of 'Merry Christmas', because they are clearly anti-Christian and will bring down America. Got to love his priorities. - cakestick, on 10/12/2007, -10/+27He makes more sense than most of the talking heads that have been on the tube for decades. Sorry pal.
- chevetter85, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21I think that was the most thorough, concentrated, and professional verbal pwnage that man will ever see. Normally I would think that 7 minutes spent arguing 5 seconds of a debate is a little much, but I think "BOR" is definitely an exception.
- Web_Weasel, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17BOR is a lying sack of crap. I woudn't trust him to give me the correct time.
It's good someone is calling him on it. - ClassicJBC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12In the documentary Outfoxed, there's a clip of Al Franken, who has repeteadly clashed with O'Reilly, discussing the inability to sue Bill O'Reilly for defamation and/or slander. His reasoning? Bill O'Reilly lies so often that it would be entirely too easy for defense to prove he's a pathological liar. Hilarious.
- Tsujigiri, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14"I'll never be able to take Olbermann seriously, and I'm always going to think of him as a SportsCenter anchor."
And O'Reilly isn't forever stuck in your head as the guy from "Inside Edition"? Wow, that's not selective reasoning! - music13, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10And then of course Fox news changes the online transcripts back to what was actually said. Check them out at http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,197635,00.html
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10This is the first time I've seen Olberman. I must say I'm pleasantly surprised.
He's a little like Colbert but without the humor, irony and sarcasm.
Anyone daring to raise their voice against scumbags like Oh'Really are worthy of admiration in my book. - wolfzero, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Down with pundits. I'm sick of both of these jackasses. REPORT THE NEWS, leave the opinions to the viewers. It's not about Democrats or Republicans or right wing or left wing, it's about the world and whats happening in it, and how YOU can interact with whats going on. Common Sense should be a political party.
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9If they changed the wording, they are no longer "transcripts", are they?
- callinthelaw69, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13Wasn't this posted a few weeks ago?
Maybe it was just another video of Keith owning Bill. - maigarette, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10as far as i know BOR will do anything he possibly can including paying millions to protect his image, instead of being care full of what he says and do, the stupidity of a man who boasts to know more then the rest of us is sometimes amazing, i guess phone sex is a way of relaxing the ever working super brain he possesses, every time i use BOR"s name the word "LAME" comes to mind among others.
- sunyata322, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9yeah really. the description is longer than that blog post and it made the link to youtube hard to find
- hackwrench, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8So, where are the transcripts?
- lbjazz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8possibly the best part of the video
not that the rest wasn't great - icebrk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8You gotta love how after years of Bill O'Reily spewing this crap it's becoming universally accepted you can't take him seriously.
This is beyond controversial, sensationalism, or even Fox News, he deserves less credibility than tabloids. - Spanktacular, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6While I'm pleased you enjoyed him, I'm perplexed as to how you missed the obvious sarcasm and humor, complete with a falafel reference, that is a staple in Olbermann's show...
- Hermitwise, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7No it's the same, I was hoping it was another stupid lie by him too.
- Tsujigiri, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The spin stops here.
- mrinternet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Fair comments on the actual pwnage,
My view per the deifntion @ http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&hs=kZp&lr=&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&defl=en&q=define:Pwn&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title
"means to beat or dominate an opponent...."
I consider this fair and balanced pwnage by KO. - mrinternet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@jfreeman and others.
I hope some of the obvious points are.. clear.
BOR made a mistake (stuff happens) he then duplicated the mistake..fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again GWB 2002...
Then said he got it wrong (minor issue to him). Fox then changed the transcripts (per the link above). BOR has not addressed that. Not quite fair and balanced. - callinthelaw69, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4What kind of "patriot" glorifies massacres (he thinks) his country committed?
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The fascist demagogues don't care about facts, they only want to stoke the rabble. What baffles me is why Bill doesn't cite actual, unambiguous atrocities by the military such as My Lai. I'm guessing in the case of My Lai it's because many present conservatives were complicit in the coverup...I'm sure he doesn't want the public drawing lines between THOSE dots.
- mrinternet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@eth3I
The issue is not just the continued mistakes/lies, its the cover up by Fox that did it for me. & you may find a few less MM fanboys/girls than you think should you post a few michael moore falsehoods. Perhaps you could pwn him yourself (I wouldn't get near him). - da_bradler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4doesn't change the fact that he referenced the wrong thing TWICE and only after that did he go and look up something that fit the ***** he was spewing.
He didn't apologize he basicly called the person who wrote in an idiot and then he just said he was talking about something else, which OB called him on. did you even watch the video? stop protecting Bill O'Riley you troll - walnoj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I would say that Bill O'Reilly distorting news is actually news in itself.
- mrinternet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@stpalmer
see my comment on pwnage, I believe you are mistaken. - eth3l, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks for the props! He is a genuis, plus he's in a wheelchair so I don't think Olbermann will go after him.
- mrinternet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@hack the "transcripts" are shown in the video of course.
The actual FOX transcripts appears here
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,197635,00.html - Ashree321, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3We DO deserve better then Billy Reilly! What a pompous jackass. I can't believe the transcripts were changed-- the fact that he is still on air and anyone in their right mind would support news like that amazes me!
Olbermann would do his job 100X's better, except I wouldn't wish the awful fate of working for Fox news upon my worst enemy - mrinternet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@urusai : What baffles me is why Bill doesn't cite actual, unambiguous atrocities by the military such as My Lai.
O'Reilly spent 1967 in New York Uni, his junior year, 1969-1970 at the University of London (same time Clinton was at Oxford) and BOR had no excuse for not being drafted per public record.
Perhaps Vietnam is a bit too close to home for his credability. - nicholai, on 11/28/2007, -0/+1Boycott News Corp and their sponsors until O'Reilly is fired.
- mrinternet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@eth3l -thnx
Despite my "pontificating" I think the issue for me was not only do we not get KO in Australia (thus part of my initial interest in the novelty pwning of BOR) but also the blatant hypocrisy and more-than sloppy journalism by Fox to cover it up. Is there any law about this no, but it is far from "fair, balanced or spin free". However unless you subscribe (all but blindly) to the Michael Moore's of this world 100% (I do not), then it is not always 'AS' easy to see it.
Regardless of your liking (or not) of Fox and BOR, seeing the facts is good (and better in the humourous way it was). If it wasn't an "issue" why would Fox cover it up. - mrinternet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@eth3l

I think I agree - icebrk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's so true, having been born and partly raised in a communist country it was assumed that "news" is just propaganda for the government and is based on truth only when convenient. During my 12 years in NY I found it ironic that a country which is so proud of liberty, freedom of the press, and has many of it's citizens believing America "invented" democracy still does this. Sure in America there is more than one party so there are multiple news sources catering to various views but still seems to lack any *real* news source. I find myself usually relying on the BBC for fairly accurate and very moderately biased world news. I also get to enjoy the views of many Polish, Germany, and French news sources (most Swiss) which also offer a rather unbiased angle on world affairs. Sure these all tend to be West biased but nothing compared to the conglomerate owned news sources of the US. Still, we all have our guilty pleasures, for mine I turn to the NY Times (whose bias is sometimes a bit too obvious) and even turn on CNN for the Daily Show Global Edition, and although I love the Daily show and it has a lot of truth to it, you can't take either as serious unbiased sources of news, much less the major interest-fueled media branches.
- tiredguy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3FWIW, BOR was probably talking about the Chenogne massacre.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chenogne_massacre - quasipalm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Really? I hate Bill O'Reilly like any sane person, but I thought this guy went a little over the top towards the end. I swear I could hear the national anthem when he almost shed a (tv-friendly) tear for WWII POWs. Maybe I just hate talking heads that aren't on Comedy Central.
- kristov, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Calling out right-wing trash is worth it.
But then again, if you are still a O'Reilly follower you are worse than trash at this point. - unrealJEDI, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1ya... i agree
- quasipalm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2If anyone else is wondering what Tim O'Reilly has to do with this all and what the hell BOR is -- this is all about Bill O'Reilly being an idiot.
- gendjinn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1While Bill is wrong on the Malmedy score the treatment of German POWs by the Allies after the conclusion of the conflict is definitely a war crime.
Never once since the signing of the Geneva Convention has any side in any conflict adhered to the "rules" - you know like not bombing the crap out of cities (London, Dresden, Hiroshima, etc). - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Even though it does have it's merits, yep, super old. Reported as duplicate.
- eth3l, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1@mrinternet - my friend -
Dude, whats the prob if Fox "covers it up"? They are not bound by laws to reveal all things like this and if it jsut adds fuel to the "Fax News is the Devil" fire, then so be it - Fox news made its bed now lay in it. - mcflynnthm, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4This was posted a while ago, I thought?
- shortyzgotpop, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3This Olbermann guy spends more time picking on O'Reilly about things he's said, how his ratings dropped a few points last night, etc. I can't stand the guy any better than O'Reilly. I wish he would focus on the news and solid journalism instead of spending half the show critiquing his nemesis. So BOR has the most popular news show on cable: get over it Olbermann and stop acting like a child. This has gotta be like the 10th video I've seen where Olbermann talks about BOR.
- jfreeman, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Yes, I did the research, too, which is probably more than most diggers can say. They don't want to give O'Reilly a chance to make a mistake. He corrected himself after a viewer sent in mail, but Olberman went off on how he didn't apologize. If he had really wanted to cover it up, he wouldn't have put that mail on the air.
And I don't know if Fox News actually changed the transcript. Olberman showed only one copy in the segment, and it's possible that a transcript writer unfamiliar with the history simply misheard and wrote the closest sounding thing of which they knew. Besides, Fox News changed it later to reflect O'Reilly's actual words, no doubt after it was brought to their attention.
Where's the beef? He could have better spent his time talking about Haditha. - eth3l, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3that fat tub of Lard Michael Moore is a big fat liar too. If I post a story about him getting caught in a lie how quick do you think that will be buried and me spammed to all crap.
this is the *dumbest* digg I have ever seen. Seriously, a Digg about Rainbow Brite making a resurgence on the Saturday morning kids show market would hold more interest from me.
BFD, if BOR was caught tripping up. The way the leftist bash him you would think they are actually threatened by him. Dude, BFD! -
