- ousthouse, on 01/14/2009, -0/+33He stole people's money. Then, he jumped out of an airplane and then stole a motorcycle.
This sounds like GTA:SA. - redskyformiles, on 01/14/2009, -1/+25http://www.gdargaud.net/Humor/Pics/DoingItWrong.jp ...
- algaeturd, on 01/14/2009, -0/+22Not really a mystery pilot. They knew everything about him even before he was found. Not a very smart guy, apparently. He needs to read, 'How to disappear completely and never be found.'
You're not supposed to do things like rent storage spaces with your credit card or leave your wet clothes lying around after you 'crash.'
He should have got some blood of his type and splashed it around the site somewhere at the very least.
Now Steve Fossett...there's a guy who knows how to fake a disappearance. - PGPirate, on 01/14/2009, -0/+16Talk about a financial bailout....
- angusm, on 01/14/2009, -0/+14Let's analyze his mistakes:
1. Left plane on autopilot, so that military pilots sent to check it out had time to see that the cockpit was empty and that - contrary to what he had claimed in a distress call - the windshield was not broken.
2. Allowed plane to crash on land, where the absence of a pilot's body would be obvious, as opposed to sending it out over the ocean.
3. Allowed plane to crash on land, thus adding 'Reckless endangerment' to the charge sheet.
4. Shows his ID - apparently without being asked to - to a local cop, and mumbles some nonsense about a "canoeing accident".
5. Checks into a nearby hotel, also with his real ID
6. Causes suspicion by running out of the hotel and disappearing into the woods, shouting "You'll never take me alive, copper" (OK, I made that last bit up).
7. Rents a storage unit for his getaway motorcycle, using his own credit card to make it extra easy for the Feds to trace him.
8. Leaves his wet clothes in the storage unit, confirming the identification established in #4.
9. Screws up his suicide attempt (chances are he slashed his tendons too, crippling himself for life).
If that's the way he did everything he turned his hand to, no wonder his business was in a death spiral. - madpainter, on 01/14/2009, -1/+15Here's the problem I have with this sociopath. He jumped out of the plane to safety and then let it go on where it crashed near a residential neighborhood. He could have easily killed somebody. I don't feel sorry for this guy or admire him, or even think it's something to joke about. He needs to be prosecuted for endangering others. It could easily be somebody you love that this *****, or some future ***** like him kills with their self serving scheme. Sorry I'm so intense about this, but what he did was really wrong.
- inactive, on 01/14/2009, -2/+15***** *****... not only was he trying to fake his death with his apparent vanishing act to get away with scamming innocent people, but he also put the lives of many people on the line when he jumped out of his plane and left it on autopliot. That plane could have crashed into a home, and killed a family...
It's ***** like these that make me sick to live in the world we live in today. - thegator25, on 01/14/2009, -0/+12I dont know why, but for some reason I always find myself rooting for these people when they go on the lam. Especially when their plan seems well thought out and pre-arranged.
- leaguerefused, on 01/14/2009, -0/+12Seems like something you would see in a movie.
- kidathinnes, on 01/14/2009, -0/+9Um, next time just stay in the plane
- cle2105, on 01/14/2009, -0/+8These guys should just take a bunch of cash and drive/sail down to South America. That's what the Nazis did after they lost the war and they seem to be doing pretty well
- Kigmal, on 01/14/2009, -2/+9No ... YOU'RE doing it wrong ...
- GTPilot, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5be sure to pay cash.
- inactive, on 01/14/2009, -3/+8how hard is it to kill urself, .45+head = dead.
I think this guy did that just to make a case for insanity in court. - KenSPT, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5Why be so dramatic with a suicide? Granted I hope I never reach that point in my life, but if I were gonna' off myself I'd probably use the trusty bullet to the head.
Then again, I'm a tad bit lazy ... - praha, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4I went to high school with this douche bag in Merrillville. Back then, his dad was super of the school system. He had as much chutzpah back then as he apparently does 20 years later.
Guess he grew up with a "can't catch me" attitude for too long...
Ballsy move, Marcus. Ballsy move. - Stinger007, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4Smithers, who was that corpse...
- GVR90, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4So... suicide attempt or faked death?
- WibWobble, on 02/02/2009, -0/+4Wow, thats actually a book! (I don't even know why I believed you enough to google it :O)
I'm actually a bit interested in buying it, too. - ChristianBk, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3So yeah. This "disappearing act" could have worked... in the 20th century.
- bigtime2, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3Good for you buddy...
- halftank, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3The only thing this guy was successful at was being a giant douche. And since his case involves a lot of money, I bet the worst he'll get is some BS "house arrest".
Next time, keep the plane, pay in cash. - derekmas10, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3Ballsy Fail.
- grimsb, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3An "A" for effort.
- inactive, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2Lived*
- derekmas10, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2just make sure you give yourself about 4 to 6 inches between barrel and cranium - let the bone fragments do the work.
- antistupid, on 01/14/2009, -1/+3Yeah, but his plan wasn't exactly well thought out. Pre-arranged, yes..but not well thought out.
- tonycomp, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2so this guy is "smart" enough to defraud investors but is not smart enough to flee successfully? man i would make a bee line for south america... brazil is beautiful.
- hannibalhungry, on 01/14/2009, -1/+3Ugh I wish this douche didn't think his plan all the way through and rented a dual-prop plane - so when he finally decided to take his imaginary plunge he'd slip right into the propeller like that big dumbass nazi in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
- OneRottenTomato, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2"Schrenker was "verbally resistant" to authorities' offer of medical help and was muttering a phrase with the word "die," said Frank Chinmento,"
Maybe what he was really trying to say was, "Buy low". - inactive, on 01/14/2009, -1/+3The feds should have let this douche bag bleed out before they called the paramedics.
- santiago1, on 01/14/2009, -1/+3 Give 'em time, I'm sure the guy will make millions by selling his story rights, then we'll see a "HBO Exclusive!" movie or three part series only on Lifetime TV....
- diggerpleez, on 01/14/2009, -1/+3if suicide was the goal, why did he even take the chute and jump? Could have saved everyone a lot of trouble. Plus then everyone could just feel bad about the poor pilot that was in a plane crash.
- jstohler, on 01/14/2009, -1/+3He stole it from the Simpsons when Krusty fakes his own death. But he should have imitated Homer's "fake your own kidnapping" plan for Rodney Dangerfield. That was much more hilarious.
- mnpilot, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2Good thinking buddy. Jump out in the US, crash in the US and now your hours away from bailing over the border.
Cash out your savings and checking at night, fly to Honduras or something like that (file the flight plans to mexico and then bail) and then fake the crash in the jungle. It will take them forever, if never to find your plane. - franklymister, on 01/15/2009, -0/+2Too easy on him. Now he gets to live out many years of his life in prison, far from anyone who ever loved him, where very large, very tough men will ask him what he did, and he'll have to say "I defrauded investors and tried to run away by faking my death."
.
.
...and also all the anal rape. - martoq, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2You sir...can rot in hell.
- petebot, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2Yes, but nothing nearly as easy to cover.
- franklymister, on 01/15/2009, -0/+2Cheated on his wife of 13 years, left her and their three children, stole millions of dollars from his investors, endangered the lives of who knows how many innocent people by ditching his plane in a residential area, and bungled his way through a laughably incompetent faking of his own death.
I've never felt so good about myself in comparison to another person. If you ever feel like a loser, just think "at least I'm not Marcus Schrenker." - mlbwebdesign, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2If I have to hear 1 more explanation about our financial crisis, I'm going to fake my own death.
- Nothlit, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2I'm pretty sure his plan was for the plane to crash into the Gulf, never be found, and have everyone assuming that he went down with it. He probably didn't expect that fighter jets would be scrambled and would notice that the cabin was empty, or that it would run out of fuel early and crash short of the water. But yes, I agree he should be prosecuted for his actions.
- 2Bnor2B, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2Did anyone find the use of the word phase "mystery pilot" in the title annoying?
His name is Marcus Schrenker. How is this mysterious? - algaeturd, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2No chance after abandoning an aircraft during flight. That alone will guarantee him some serious prison time. It landed 75 yards away from a residential area. If it was just the financial *****, he could have retained a really good lawyer and ended up in club fed for a year. Now he's ***** factor five.
- ronk, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2I think the guy panicked causing him to do crazy stuff...I feel both sorry and angry for him.
- anillop, on 01/14/2009, -0/+1Why would you want him to get off easy by dying. He would rather die than go to prison, so by sending him to prison we can prolong his punishment.
- troye, on 01/15/2009, -0/+1I'd rather kill myself in my sleep. I'm too pussy to use a gun on myself, so just give me the drugs.
- Larsonal777, on 01/15/2009, -0/+1there's a difference between financial manager and... someone who gives you loans. See the difference is... you give your money to a financial manager and they take a percentage of what they make off of your money... they don't make any money if you don't make money. Banks on the other hand will give YOU money and expect more money back.
Banks were giving people money as loans based on the fact that the housing market was good... people used this money to buy ***** they didn't need. That is NOT financial managers who ***** up. - ThinkBox, on 01/15/2009, -0/+1He landed near where i grew up. Also the initial news didnt make it seem like a suicide attempt.
- canvashinder, on 01/14/2009, -0/+1Next time Marc stick to something your good at.
