In this instance though, he took me out back with a set of boxing gloves - brought my 6'2 220 pound linebacker brother with another set. He told him to beat on me until I was no longer conscious. Needless to say, I still have a scar above my left eye that required 9 stitches. I was hospitalized for 3 days.
What I had come to find out was, my brother had gotten the same treatment - but that it was done by my father. He was a cold son of a bitch. In all of my 25 years he's never once said he loved me. I've never seen him cry, never seen him show any real emotion. But he did tell me, a few years later, that I'll always have that scar to remind me no matter how bad the beating is, you can always get up from it.

You learn through pain. Look at today's unspankable kids. The future of society is in the hands of spoiled kids who never got dirty working or chipped a nail.
This is akin to a right of passage ie those used in native tribes etc. The idea is to kill the boy in order to let the man grow. Going in and changing the URL code from a comma to %2C is abuse. No other article on their site uses the code %2C for a comma. He went in and change it himself so it would be an original story.
I would normally say that he could of dugg it and then shouted it to his friends if he thought it was worthy of submission. Probably one of the good thing shouts were actually good for, but never actually used for that purpose. Instead they had to be abused to get the submitters own stuff to the front page.
