- jangid, on 05/02/2008, -1/+10I had read earlier, when the project started, that there will be 650 people employed in that building. And it will be used for his business meetings as well. So I feel that in a way it is good that he will provide employment to so many people and saving on his hotel bill when organizing important meetings. Any way what he will do with so much money lying in banks. So it's good that he spends that money to create some employment.

- anewman3, on 05/02/2008, -1/+7Finally, someone with a ***** ton of cash is spending it! When I walk into a big luxury hotel I love the way it feels. I could see wanting that feeling every day and if I had the cash? Hell yeah!

- loganhid, on 05/02/2008, -5/+10Yet, it is ironic with the amount of wealth he has, his neighbours will be of the poorest in india living in slums.

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?p=198 ... - d3vmax, on 05/02/2008, -2/+7His neighbours in downtown south Bombay live in high rises where the price of the floor space are as high or even higher as Tokyo and New York . I live in Bombay so I know.
Yes I agree there is a huge slum problem in bombay and poverty is there but things are improving and he and his brothers family have made possible for even an auto rickshaw driver to have a mobile phone now a days. They have taken many industries from the govt. made it more competitive and it has helped many people, es. the middle class. In the following decade India's aim is to make sure the economic reforms and benefit trickle down to the poor people and I believe it is on the right track.
Bombay to Indians is how New York to the world was in the 20th century. It is a place where your dreams come true. Thousands of people from rural and other ares of India come to Bombay everyday. How can a city accommodate so many people? Many end up living in the slum areas and the huge influx of people puts the city under resource constraints but it amazes me how it manages to feed everyone as no one in Bombay goes to bed hungry. Food is cheap and even homeless make enough money to get a decent meal. I hope in a few years things will be better.
One bad thing is the politicians who exploit the people es. in the slums by promising them that they will not remove their slums even though its made on illegal property if they give their votes and so no development can be made in these ares even if the govt. decides to make proper homes for them and it has happened. It is a lot more complicated why the slums are there and poverty isn't just the reason. - mastazed, on 05/02/2008, -3/+7now thats alotta meatballs
- flashback99, on 05/02/2008, -2/+7Of course, lets all be dumb nationalists and ignore the problem itself.

- inactive, on 05/02/2008, -5/+8Millions of Americans are going homeless but hell you still find time to spend money on wars.. But why not, Right?
- danconia, on 05/02/2008, -2/+5Less ironic when you consider that his money, spending, and investments probably employ millions of people.
- inactive, on 05/02/2008, -3/+6he is creating over a thousand jobs directly or indirectly due to this you *****. Hoarding this into a freaking bank would do *****. Spending it actually helps people more retard.
- drizzlelicious, on 05/02/2008, -0/+3Don't pretend that this is philanthropy, and at least allow me to rant for a LITTLE bit. Just because he creates over a thousand jobs it doesnt make him any less of a selfish bastard
- inactive, on 05/02/2008, -2/+5We are on an international site. i doubt anyone got the reference. Also MNS doesn't have the ballz to mess around with the Gujarati community.

- aks786, on 05/12/2008, -0/+3It is complete wastage of money in a country where 30% people live under poverty line.
- inactive, on 05/02/2008, -3/+6I don't understand all the sour grapes here. This guy is very fortunate. As far as helping the less fortunate goes. Is anyone really suggesting that his money should go to them. That's ridiculous. Why would you work for anyone else? All governments already steal half our money (or more) in taxes.

- nick111, on 05/26/2008, -0/+2Probably not millions, no. Small businesses employ more people than big ones.
Trickle down didn't work remember? It's still not working now. What is it with you people and your insatiable desire to recreate class systems? Isn't that why America was colonised in the first place? To get away from this crap?
Stop it with your rich-person worshipping. It's unhealthy. - iiiears, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2Certainly more discerning than the shrine to gold leaf that Donald Trump calls home. Remember the pictures of his New York apartment from The Apprentice? Seems likely with that much money you might have some rooms built for the impression you were trying to give a business client some for "Shock and Awe" and others for relaxed elegance.
