http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc1Y64N4O7g - NewTV, on 01/07/2009, -1/+47In addition to Dirty Jobs, Rowe's work for Discovery includes narrating for American Chopper, American Hot Rod, and Deadliest Catch, as well as other Discovery specials and series. Rowe hosted the Discovery Channel's annual "Shark Week" in 2006, along with hosting the special "You Spoof Discovery", which as the title suggests, poked fun at some of the popular series on the Discovery Channel's lineup. He is an amazing public speaker, important American television personality, and this is a great video find! Keep digging new media!
- wdw25, on 01/07/2009, -1/+38In addition to making comments that include Mike Rowe's entire resume, NewTV fellates Mike Rowe three times a week.
- nigelbc, on 01/07/2009, -0/+30Not only is this show very entertaining to see how these dirty jobs are done while in the comfort of my clean living room, Mike Rowe is also hilarious in his commentary and interactions with people
- woofer1125, on 01/07/2009, -0/+29well spoken.
- webgrafix12, on 01/06/2009, -1/+26I love that guy!!!

- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+18Watching Dirty Jobs gives me an appreciation for everyone that makes this world work the way it does. Unfortunately a lot of us get the *****, unappreciated parts
- vonwebster, on 01/07/2009, -2/+20You know... I'm starting to think that maybe I'd much rather have sheep's testicles on my chin and feel like I've earned the money I made that day, instead of sitting in front of a computer screen at work and accomplishing something with no tangible result to behold at the end of the day.
- jpowlus, on 01/07/2009, -0/+17Website he is working on:
http://www.mikeroweworks.com/index.html - finalcloud33, on 01/07/2009, -0/+16I simply love this show. Mike Rowe is one funny SOB and you got to love all those innuendo he makes.
- Gr00ver, on 01/07/2009, -0/+16Mike Rowe: A man's man.
- Zippo, on 01/07/2009, -1/+16Wow... that's nuts.
- tthdrummer, on 01/07/2009, -0/+15He is one of the BEST hosts that has ever been... and you should hear him sing opera... holy crap!
- legoalert33, on 01/07/2009, -3/+18OM NOM NOM NOM
- evetsleep, on 01/07/2009, -0/+14That was much deeper then I expected....well spoken Mike...well worth the 20 minutes it took to say it.
- blademanx, on 01/07/2009, -0/+13You can see his soul dying a little every minute, and its the funniest thing I've ever seen.
- DangerCollie, on 01/07/2009, -1/+12He's not the only one that has to deal with castration issues. Depends how you do it whether it's really that dirty of a job. A little uncomfortable, but not necessarily dirty.

The one thing Dirty Jobs really points up is how much specialization there is in the labor market. You can live your life without ever getting involved in the messy details of how your food gets to the table or refrigerator, how your car gets fixed, the A/C gets repaired or just about anything. In some ways it's amazingly liberating, in other ways it's sort of a potential Pearl Harbor of knowledge. We can only enjoy this luxury of interest because everything works. If things stopped working, people who live in big cities are going to have a big problem in about 72 hours when the grocery stores run out of food. - PhantomRogue, on 01/07/2009, -0/+10Additionally, hes a classically trained Opera Singer.
- aznpwnzor, on 01/07/2009, -0/+10Mike Rowe: Everybody's man crush
- remiserg, on 01/07/2009, -0/+9OH MY GOD NO
- Lord_oftheTrons, on 01/07/2009, -0/+9Don't forget his stint on QVC. There are some hilarious clips on youtube if you google Mike Rowe and QVC.
- jchaines, on 01/07/2009, -0/+8And to think he came from this hilarity. How amazing can this man get?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rChjMRfi40c - ChronicColonic, on 01/07/2009, -0/+8There is no dirty job Mike Rowe will not try - wait a minute, US president is the dirtiest job. I don't even think he would even try that one...
- asskicker32, on 01/07/2009, -0/+7I think his point about the people with dirty jobs seeming to be the most happy is that they are mostly outside doing something tangible.. Most people I know who hate their jobs work in offices...
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+7Who the ***** doesnt like Mike Rowe?
- delrin500, on 01/07/2009, -0/+7Extremely interesting... They should make kids at school watch this video, let these kids know that there is nothing wrong with hard work. Too many kids today avoid work and are just bums, we are raising a generation of lazy bums.
- huggybarrel, on 01/07/2009, -0/+7we've decided that Mike Rowe IS the voice of the Discovery Channel.
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+7No doubt! I think he could actually win!
- fahrvergnuugen, on 01/07/2009, -0/+7That clip was better than most stand up routines!
- cuoops, on 01/07/2009, -0/+6Yeah ummm, it's not hard to recognize his voice......
- SifuMoKung, on 01/07/2009, -0/+6Wow, I thought phrenology was dead. That prominent brow shows a predisposition to criminal behavior. Maybe we should lock him up?
- orb_nsc, on 01/07/2009, -0/+6Holy crap is right. One of the best Dirty Jobs scenes is when he is singing opera while rowing a boat in a pond of cow crap...I think it was a wastewater retention pond for the farm. The worst possible place to fall out of a boat, which he nearly did.
- k3rfuffl3, on 01/07/2009, -0/+6Too late.
- MrFurious2k, on 01/07/2009, -0/+5He's a great speaker. I never knew. He's an interesting person and has an interesting viewpoint.
- AWBoy666, on 01/07/2009, -4/+9MIke Rowe is my hero for so many reasons including that he doesn't believe in man made global warming.
- AWBoy666, on 01/07/2009, -0/+5Too far.
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+5I was impressed with the Dirty Jobs song he wrote on that napkin.
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+5You forgot his Ford commercials.
- Volfie99, on 01/07/2009, -0/+4That was brilliant. That was absolutely brilliant.
- JamJosh, on 01/07/2009, -0/+4Gifted with a great narrating voice equal to that of Morgan Freeman and James Earl Jones.
- oxdeltaxo, on 01/07/2009, -0/+4No job is too dirty.
- 12916studios, on 01/07/2009, -1/+5This video is proof that Mike is an incredibly intelligent guy. I can almost guarantee you that all this was off the top of his head. And he has a wicked sense of humor to boot.
- EvilJohn, on 01/07/2009, -0/+4Dude, you could never land a catch like that.
- floridiot2, on 01/07/2009, -0/+4Keep going.
- drinking12many, on 01/07/2009, -0/+4I agree with his sentiment in alot of respects. I miss my job working on airplanes in the air force - its dirty, cold in winter, hot in summer, long hours, rediculous expectations that often do have a real impact on someone living or dying. But id take it anyday over working in IT sitting at a desk 10 hours a day with nothing tangible to really show for it except an occasional pat on the back. Seeing an F-16 with a 40 foot flame shooting out the tail take off climb straight up to 5,000ft + feet in no time was so much more rewarding.
- nevinl, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Read his interview of himself...
http://www.mikeroweworks.com/interview.html
MR: Do you have any vision at all for what the website might become?
Mike Rowe: I've already received lots of great feedback, much of it from parents who want a place where they and their kids can investigate career options that aren't necessarily college-dependent. Plumbers and electricians and all kinds of contractors say they that would like a place to chat, exchange stories, and pick each other's brains. Job search engines. Worker profiles. And some sort of daily, work-related, entertainment component. There's lots of work to do, but so far, I'm encouraged by all the support. Eventually, I see mikeroweWORKS as a robust place where people can gather to share, educate, and celebrate the business of working.
....
MR: No. Tell me why you're doing this.
Mike Rowe: Look, I'm 46 years old. I've been in television for twenty-five years. I don't want to host American Idol. I don't want to interview celebrities, or replace Conan O'Brien, or make movies. Maybe I'll change my mind one day, but right now, I'm the "guy who has had more jobs than anyone else." I didn't set out to be that guy, but that's the way it turned out, and now, people are wondering what I'm going to do with it. For the moment, I have a small measure of influence, and I'd like to do something worthwhile.
+= 10 diggs - Noncentz, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3Yeah .... Im going to have to jump the Mike Rowe bandwagon to. Usually Im quick to point out what an assclown alot of these hosts are but this guy seems pretty damn cool.
