- whiskeymb, on 10/12/2007, -5/+137what does that even mean!?
- ScionX, on 10/12/2007, -9/+139Mr. Irimi, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+110Look, if you guys don't understand Irimi, however, it's because of him doing what he's just doing for the same reason as you and I do for the way they are doing things. That's all.
- danielrhodes, on 10/12/2007, -8/+90It didn't seem like Matt Lauer cornered him at all. Every time he asked, Bush evaded the question.
- whiskeymb, on 10/12/2007, -15/+84"we had lawyers take a look at this and they told us it was within the law"
I wonder if these skilled lawyers were as talented as the people who told him Iraq had WMD... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -15/+83"Bush has to uphold the U.S. Constitution"
When is he gonna start? - Arkonnan, on 10/12/2007, -10/+67@ZeroG52
Oddly enough, the people who made that claim debunked it themselves some time later. What they found were 80s-era shells which had been cleaned and discarded. They haven't found any actual chemical weapons.
But of course, I wouldn't expect a retraction from Fox News. "Liberal media" indeed.. - milkmage, on 10/12/2007, -12/+59@whiskeymb..
what's the problem?
Irimi is Donald Rumsfeld's digg handle - comments are perfectly clear! - Sandwiches_Time, on 10/12/2007, -3/+46That is easily the most nonsensical thing I have ever read on the Internet. I've re-read it over and over, and I just get more and more baffled. Congratulations on adding literally nothing to the conversation.
- The_Wallbanger, on 10/12/2007, -8/+48ZeroG: This Santorum train-wreck was debunked months ago.
We went to war for that?!?
EDIT: Wow record time post bury! -5 in 90 seconds! - Malakin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+41Matt asked some excellent questions; it's too bad Bush sidestepped them all and backtracked to the whole "we're a country under attack and I'm protecting you" theme that we're all getting tired of.
One question really stood out to me.
Matt - "Are you at all concerned...[if torture is used]...that there's a blurring of the lines between ourselves and the people we're trying to protect us against?"
It takes balls to stand inches from the president of a country and insinuate that he may himself be committing acts of terrorism. - rolosworld, on 10/12/2007, -7/+37I agree, I think bush changed posture to look more convincing. He do this all the time, aggressive first, then acts like a pussy cat.
- jeffreym, on 10/12/2007, -20/+48I know that the current administration has long since given up on finding Osama Bin Laden. But what are we doing to bring George Bush, the world's biggest terrorist to justice?
I'm surprised that the news media has not made more noise about this man's reign of terror. As of 9/13/06, he has murdered a minimum of 44,532 people. Some sources estimate the total to be as high as 49,209.
That's 17 times more deaths than Osama Bin Laden is responsible for.
Let's look at the facts:
Deaths Wounded Where
2,792 (civilian) 2,261 World Trade Center
2,672 (military) 19,910 Iraq
41,860 (civilian)
We don't know where Bin Laden is but we know where this scumbag is at all times. And it won't cost lives or money to find him. Let's send him to Iraq for trial today - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29"The day will come very soon when thousands if not millions of Americans will die - and it will be your fault."
That's where. Sounds like you are petulantly wishing that an attack *will* happen, so that your claims can be bolstered in retrospect.
"Do you not agree there is a threat to America?"
Oh, I agree that we are much, much less safe now after the botched and incredibly stupid invasion of Iraq. I'm glad that you can admit that.
Iraq: a country that had NO WMDs capable of threatening America, or even its neighbours. Repeat: Iraq was no threat to the US, as was claimed by the Bush administration. They claimed that Iraq was a direct threat to the US, which was either a grossly incompetent assessment (in contradiction of the UN weapons inspectors and virtually every other independant source) or it was a lie, in order to get support for the invasion.
Now, though, Iraq is a training ground for terrorists. It is a cause to bring together the most vile and fanatical extremists from the Middle East, an example to recruit thousands more terrorists who are learning how to use bombs, to become snipers, techniques that they wish to use on us, at home.
Oh yes, I readily agree we are at threat now, much more than we were before. Thanks to Bush's failed Iraq invasion, we are in deep *****. Meanwhile, Osama Bin Laden is still free, now and again he pops his head up and mocks us with a tape or a video.
Pat yourself on the back. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+30"I don't know why I try to reason with you idiots."
I would say that the idiot is you, because you couldn't even read the article you posted. You are wrong, get used to it.
Then you go on to wish death on millions of Americans, as if that will somehow restore your 'rightness'. Sorry, buddy, you were wrong. You got played. Wishing death on millions of your fellow countrymen only makes you look like more of an idiotic monster. - MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -6/+31He cornered him the sense that Bush got defensive. When you get cornered you get defensive. He even started to get annoyed and a little offensive. Matt Lauer's calm tone and demeanor probably only annoyed Bush more too.
- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -6/+30It seems like this was a thinly veilled throwaway interview for Bush. This particular exchange really demonstrated that. (paraphrased)
L:If your techniques were within the law, why couldn't you do them in Guantanamo, rather than shipping people half way around the world
GWB: I'm not gunna talk about techniques. I'm not gunna 'splain to the enemy what we're doing. All I'm telling you is that we're protecting the American people
If this wasn't a slow ball, why didn't Lauer stop his ranting about protection and actually force him to answer the question? - yogurtslinger, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27@scionx +digg for the billy madison refference
- amboy00, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21See, there known knowns and unknown unknowns...
- geometry, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25ZeroG52, did you read the article you posted? Just a short quote.
Offering the official administration response to FOX News, a senior Defense Department official pointed out that the chemical weapons were not in useable conditions.
"This does not reflect a capacity that was built up after 1991," the official said, adding the munitions "are not the WMDs this country and the rest of the world believed Iraq had, and not the WMDs for which this country went to war."
These were pre Gulf War weapons, and they were found mixed in with normal munitions. I'd assume that Sadam didn't even know he still had these, if he did know wouldn't he have used them against our troops? - bbarnhart, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Why are they standing so close to each other?
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21You know what you doing.
- m0nk, on 10/12/2007, -8/+25@ZeroG52:
And Fox News is a reliable source quoting Rick Santorum, a reliable source. *cough*
I live in PA, so you'll have forgive the level of mistrust of Santorum, especially since he's trying to use fear-mongering at every turn. This article was also from June, so don't you think that if it were true that Bush would be touting this data for his peeps that are up for re-election this fall? - tdowling, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Translation: Both guys have their own objectives, and those objectives are not compatible with each other.
- hodyoaten, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23After reading this last comment section I want that 60 seconds of my life back.
- michaeldillon, on 10/12/2007, -8/+24It sounds like he is saying, "it's legal if we say so". Scary. Wait until Bush feels he has to use techniques like spying and torture on avearge Americans LIKE YOU to fit his ideal of a "safe America".
- wurzelgummage, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I vote we waterboard Bush to get the truth.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16"Whatever it takes to crowbar info from these animals, so be it."
Yeah, we need to get the truth out of the Bush administration any way we can. - MYarms, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19"ummm matt i'm not going to answer your question because i don't want the enemy to adjust."
Just imagine that over and over and some other filler nonsense and you've seen the interview. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16"Yeah, like kidnapping, propaganda, and be-headings, maybe a little jihad.."
None of which has happened in America. It has happened in Iraq, after we invaded.. the wrong country.
The statistical likelihood of the average American being hit by some kind of terrorist attack is tiny. Tiny. You have more chance of getting a heart attack or being in a car crash. So why the fear mongering? Why are you so afraid? I remember when this country used to be full of brave people - "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Now its all this fear mongering ***** from people like you.
I'm living my life the way I always lived it, and I refuse to give in to fear, and I categorically refuse to give up my FREEDOMS that my forefathers fought for, just because some ***** dumbass says I have to cower and quiver like a ***** coward. - tont0r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15@ZeroG52
Lets imagine that there is a country that 'liberated' us from our government because our 'leader' wasnt nice and that he was a 'threat'. So they came in and kicked some ass and whoops, knocked out eletricity and water for awhile, but got it back up. They also MAY have accidently dropped a missle on my neighboors house, but hey, ***** happens.
So now we are going to have this 'new' and 'awesome' government put into place. But whoops! there are these other guys that dont really agree with the 'invaders' and they are blowing ***** up left and right. The people that came to free us cant stop them. and ill be damned if, according to the grape vine, they are trying to bail out on us before everything is secure. They say we are 'ready to handle it', but in all honesty, if these people that came to free us cant stop them, what chance do we have? Now, under the command of this other country that wanted to 'free us', we have over 50+ innocent people a day dying. i mean, it was bad with the 'bad leader' in charge, but not this bad.
anyways, the point of all this is say you were in the country that was 'freed' and it turned out like that. how much are you going to like those people that 'freed you in the first place? - nocountries, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17Thousands of Americans have been killed by Bush's determination to go to war whatever the truth about Iraqi WMD. He just wanted to make his family richer, regardless of the thousands of poor American boys and girls from depressed parts of the country who he had to sacrifice to achieve his low, amoral ambition.
Patriots should stand up to this unAmerican bastard. He is a traitor to everything America is supposed to stand for, and he should be impeached. - gummih, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16What balls? Are you trying to hail the arguably most powerful man in the world for not buckling in front of a single reporter? - He is a blabbering idiot with no guts, nothing to say, only evasive actions and catchphrases.
- jschunick, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15The only threat to America is a perceived threat brought on by our government and the media. These "Islamic Fascists" who want to kill every single American are the same "Russian Communists" who wanted to kill every single American, the same "free black devil" who wanted to destroy the white supremacy of America, the same "redskin indians", etc... And your buying it.
The "Islamic Fascists" are not killing every single American citizens, however the American Fascists are killing plenty of middle eastern citizens.
The REAL threats to our safety and prosperity are the other SUPERPOWERS of the world (ie: China, North Korea, Russia...). - chubbymidget, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Listening to this guy kills my soul.
- raindogmx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13@ZeroG
"...But in my heart I know these people have wanted to eliminate us for over a thousand years..."
America is not even 600 years old, you dimwit.
Or if by "us" you meant "close minded violent fundamentalist a-holes" then count me in the resistance. - flake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10heh, there's no such thing as an ex-alchoholic, only alcoholics who manage not to drink
- oddmanout, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13"amnesty international says secret sites are against the law"
"well we disagree with them"
HOLY CRAP thats scary.... apparently Bush and his puppetmasters get to decide which international laws should be obeyed. - interiot, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15Bush has the balls to say "The reason we're sending the bad guys to Guantanamo, and the really bad guys to secret places in Europe, is not because we want to do things to them that nobody can find out about and that might be illegal, it's because.... Aww, shucks, I can't explain to the American people because it would help the terrorists"
- brufleth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10@BigBaRay and ZeroG52
Sarin and other "G" agents which are what the US gave Iraq have a limited shelf life. Sometimes as little as a few weeks but usually not more than a few months. Much work has been done trying to extend shelf life but the material given to Iraq (by the US) was of low grade and would NOT have lasted 10 years or probably even 10 months.
Do you follow? Stockpiles degrade. Actively producing chemical and biological agents is required to maintain a stockpile. This is why Powell went so far as to tell the UN that there were several mobile "factories" which were actively producing WMDs.
Please spend a few minutes reading about sarin and other similar nerve agents (you know them as WMDs). Here's a link to an article about sarin specifically:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarin
You may want to check out a real book perhaps in your local library just to make sure no "liberal media" edited wikipedia. - geronimo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Reagan would have been able to convey the same thing but in a non-combative way that would end all discussion and probably end with a chuckle. Bush just flails about angrily repeating the same thing over and over. This sort of discussion will never end. He is representative of the new breed of politics. But then again, when was the last time we had a spoiled rich kid president who was an ex-alcoholic. Reagan lived through the depression, Bush lived through drug binges.
- reiggin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Digg needs a "Political Videos" category.
- warox, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16From ZeroG's article: ""The purity of the agents inside the munitions depends on many factors, including the manufacturing process, potential additives and environmental storage conditions. While agents degrade over time, chemical warfare agents remain hazardous and potentially lethal."
So, basically, he had old ***** that might have worked, maybe. We already knew he had old chemical weapons. He still didn't have WMDs that would have killed massive amounts of people like Colin Powell testified in front of the UN. - oddmanout, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9of evading questions?
- gummih, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12So now we know what happens when you let lawyers run a country
- wolvyne, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12All I heard was repetition of avoiding the question and lots of contradiction coming from Bush. Great job at avoiding another interview
- fakkedap, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Looks like the Bush regime's propaganda has worked wonders on ZeroG.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10"since they would never, ever try to bring one in through Mexico and detonate it within a large city."
I agree! That's another thing - why the ***** hasn't Bush strengthened the borders? I mean, God, man, you're making my arguments for me. One of my biggest beefs with the Bush administration is their failure to secure the ports and borders.
The crack about my parents is pretty low, too, shows exactly what kind of person you are. My father is a Viet Nam vet, and my Grandfather fought in WW2 in both Europe & the Pacific theatres. So a big hearty ***** you goes your way. Why do you hate America so much? - hasbeen, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13ZeroG - "I don't hate America, I love her with all my heart and soul."
If that is true, please help save America.... and jump off something very high. - gruvsf, on 10/12/2007, -8/+15@ZeroG52
You may want to get your sources from other than Fox news:
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/58966/the_truth_about_those_wmds_supposedly.html
Open up your eyes and ears, pal. You've been had by Fox news! Those WMDs were ones that were old and decommissioned and were not even usable, much less the WMDs that they were looking for. Don't you think that the the White House would have done a grand news conference if those were the WMDs they were looking for?
Apparently those "liberal media" types are the ones that report something contradictory to Fox news (pretty much all of the news outlets said the same thing if you do a little research), but Fox news is somehow balanced? You've been had about the "myth" of "liberal media". -
