Josh Gurley, 21, a university junior who was in Mr. Zinkhan’s course on consumer buying behavior, said the professor unexpectedly canceled class last week and said students did not need to take the final exam.
What lucky bastards - ryan83189, on 04/26/2009, -3/+21No, there will still be ass kissers. "He shot me in the face but all of these low raters need to realize he doesn't just shoot you for nothing, you have to earn it." 5 star everything. : )
- Rocco03, on 04/26/2009, -4/+20First Lesson: Killing is bad for business.
- inactive, on 04/26/2009, -4/+15He developed the perfect marketing plan, which unfortunately relied on the "there's no such thing as bad publicity" mantra
- xero69, on 04/26/2009, -0/+11I feel for the shooters kids who will now grow up with no mother and a father in prison.
- tritiumpie, on 04/26/2009, -0/+10My review:
"Tough professor to rate; you might get lucky and not have a final exam. Then again, you might also get shot in the face. So it's really a coin-toss." - videocrew, on 04/26/2009, -1/+9http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?ti ...
"Witty guy, some information useful. But he demonstrated himself to be cold hearted and just plain nasty when I needed help. Stay away from this man."
"thinks he's einstein or something. creep." - abid8740, on 04/26/2009, -0/+7http://ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=31 ...
- bobburn1, on 04/26/2009, -2/+8Of course he didn't read the article, he's far to busy making snarky comments.
- spec209, on 04/26/2009, -0/+6there is a typo on that profile page: "Busienss"
Prior Professional Positions:
University of Houston, Marketing Department, Conn Appliances Professor of Marketing 1981 to 1994
University of Pittsburgh, College of Busienss, Associate Professor 1987 to 1988
-No wonder he snapped. - KineticShampoo, on 04/26/2009, -3/+9MforMike, he obviously meant it was not good news to the victims. Why don't you take your head out of your ass.
- asgardshill, on 04/26/2009, -1/+7Alright, listen up, people. Our fugitive has been on the run for ninety minutes. Average foot speed over uneven ground barring injuries is 4 miles-per-hour. That gives us a radius of six miles. What I want from each and every one of you is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in that area. Checkpoints go up at fifteen miles. Your fugitive's name is George M. Zinkhan III. Go get him.
- GoDawgs7, on 04/26/2009, -0/+6This didn't happen on campus, so it wouldn't matter.
- roofview, on 04/26/2009, -1/+7I'm betting the wife was having an affair and Zinkham will be found dead in a motel tate or two away.
sad story. - MforMike, on 04/26/2009, -5/+10None of his students were shot... did you even read the article, your comment does not make sense.
- Jamsmooth, on 04/26/2009, -2/+7I'm a UGA alum and this disturbs me. Well I'd be disturbed wherever this happened but this is close to home.
- Mediaright, on 04/27/2009, -0/+4I'm a UGA student. For such a situation, everything seems pretty unchanged here. We heard helicopters yesterday, but that was about it. Nothing out of the ordinary. The good news is that we all get emails, calls, and texts from the university alert system whenever something happens (either weather warnings or stuff like this), so everybody (including the Prof himself) knew to be on the lookout and what to look for.
- mikemehak, on 04/26/2009, -0/+4Normally when I read stories about naughty teachers I think "man, I would love to be that young student"
In this case, I do not envy the students. - inactive, on 04/26/2009, -1/+5Don't assume the father is alive...odds are he offed himself.
- BrownieMix, on 04/26/2009, -1/+4Guys, we gotta find this man. My group will search around the lake, and take your group and search up in the mountains!
- Seann7656, on 04/26/2009, -2/+5Sweet, now they don't have to worry about finals!
- bobburn1, on 04/26/2009, -1/+4And you're a ***** idiot.
- Spanq, on 04/26/2009, -2/+5No, it doesn't.
- Lexxvs, on 04/26/2009, -2/+5That is the problem with the States. In other countries, if you have a problem you have a verbal fight. Or go for a fists fight, as getting a gun is not that easy. In America you legally buy a gun and “solve” your revenge in that way. That if you didn’t have a gun already, as it seems to be pretty unlikely.
- SamOut, on 04/26/2009, -0/+3Seems he played too much videogames... -_-
- kelmaster1, on 04/26/2009, -0/+3Looks like another affair gone awry...
- Dan™, on 04/26/2009, -0/+2Starting school there next semester...
- veled, on 04/26/2009, -0/+2Yeah... um, as a Georgia Tech alum, I'm gonna lay off the dawg jokes for a while just in case, mmki?
Besides, too easy. - inactive, on 04/26/2009, -3/+4he can now become a super villian like Doctor DOOM. only he'll go by "Professor Murder". that or he can wrestle for Vince McMahon.
- Frostek, on 04/27/2009, -0/+1Did you just admit to murder there?
- EllimistX, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1That looks like the fake beard that evil Stephen Colbert wore with Dan Maffei. Starts at about 4:16.

(Sorry, Canadians!) - bhavinp, on 04/26/2009, -11/+12except the ones that were shot. just a minor case of bad luck i suppose.
- JDiZZle300Z, on 04/27/2009, -0/+1This seems like its straight out of a movie or something. And he is a marketing professor, there is something else going on here. I think this guy is selling something and this is his big marketing stunt HA HA. Wow, sorry, but really this is super bizarre like an episode of CSI or something :)
- terminal157, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1He's innocent, it was the one-armed man! He's trying to track the killer down himself because no one will believe him!
- Gloogle, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1don't forget to take your required bullet proof vest
- mattm85, on 04/26/2009, -1/+2I had him as a teacher when I was in college. Never imagined he would do such a thing...
- inactive, on 04/26/2009, -0/+0My pleasure O king bobburn the 1st
Making snide remarks and stalking is your forte.
Carry on then - jtt123, on 04/26/2009, -1/+1thats weird, he looks like he would never do that, especially with kids
- GOOFOFFJW, on 04/27/2009, -1/+1I know right? It's quite possible to kill people without guns. Guns just make it more convenient. And according to Gallup polls over the last few years, the average proportion of gun owners in the US is around 40%. It hardly seems unlikely for someone to not have a gun.
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -0/+0I wonder why.
- NsinU8, on 04/26/2009, -2/+2He's here hiding off the coast of Somalia! http://www.hoooliday.com/tipps-info/spirituosen/di ...
- Lane, on 04/26/2009, -3/+2I always had a feeling some of my professors were on the edge... but still holy *****.
- Dinsdale77, on 04/26/2009, -3/+2Harsh marketing methods?
- Mardala, on 04/26/2009, -5/+4Guerrilla marketing gone bad?
- garrettg84, on 04/26/2009, -8/+7i hate cats
- hiimkardinal, on 04/27/2009, -1/+0I am a UGA student and this hasn't affected me in any way. Upon first reading a CNN article about it the day of, I was initially startled when I learned the perpetrator was a professor, until I read the rest of the phrase, which was "of marketing." My reaction then changed to, "oh well that makes sense, because marketers have no soul."
I'm a bad person. :( - offycakes, on 04/27/2009, -1/+0Why do idiots keep linking NYT?
Subscribing to read news, pfft. - rpl0001, on 04/27/2009, -1/+0Ok, so lets outlaw guns, that way nobody will be armed.... except for the criminals and Personally I don't murder because of the inconvenience but more for the moral reasons.
- KauKiller, on 04/26/2009, -2/+0I just graduated from UGA in August. Holy sh*t. In the article it said he canceled the final so that's kind of neat.
