- EMFK, on 01/12/2009, -14/+305Duh--take the stickers off and match the colors! :-)
- michaelpinto, on 01/12/2009, -1/+252The most depressing quote of the story: "Wife Jean, 47, said it had felt like there had been three people in their marriage." (Why didn't she help him solve it???)
- Llanowar, on 01/12/2009, -1/+220At first when I read the title I was like "... WTF"
Then, "ahhh, of course, almost got me there Onion"
Then I was like "... WTF" - alexismyhomeboi, on 01/12/2009, -0/+206Somebody scramble it when he's not looking.
- Hearron, on 01/12/2009, -0/+165After 26 years wife figures she better put them couple stickers back where they belong.
- Nidy1, on 01/12/2009, -0/+142I think he uses the "take 26 years bruteforcing it" technique.
- ryan83189, on 01/12/2009, -3/+95I admire this man's commitment. I don't know why he was not tempted to check out a book about it, or use one of the many online tutorials that literally take an hour to learn and a few days to master. You would think a friend or family member would buy him some literature on the subject considering his habit. I myself learned some algorithms and average a 1 minute solve time and try intuitive solves when I am bored, which are incredibly difficult and I just wind up cheating. I would like to see the technique this guy uses.
- Haoie, on 01/12/2009, -1/+87And the rest of us give up and toss them away in 26 minutes.
- dtfinch, on 01/12/2009, -0/+79The stickers don't look worn at all.
- JimmyTheClam, on 01/12/2009, -4/+78"If you watched a video that told you how to do it, did YOU really solve it?"
Of course YOU solved it.
How many people could solve algebra, geometry, or calculus problems if we all had to independently invent the means of solving those equation without first being taught HOW to solve them? - upick, on 01/12/2009, -0/+70I guess he wanted to solve it the hard way... hate to say it but I learned it in 2hrs on YouTube.
But doing it on your own must feel nice - perryc, on 01/12/2009, -1/+66You, me, and Rubik. Make a movie out of it.
- dacrazydude, on 01/12/2009, -6/+69Everyone gloating about how they learned to do the rubik's cube in a hour is an idiot.None of you have solved the cube. If someone told you the answer to a riddle, does that mean you solved the riddle? He figured out how to solve the cube. Not many people can do that by themselves. Memorizing patterns is not "solving" the cube.
- dacrazydude, on 01/12/2009, -10/+71-To Digg
Just because you can do the rubik's cube doesn't mean you can solve it. That damn cube is pretty hard if you're trying to solve to make your own algorithms. Stop acting like you're a genius because you can do one using patterns you've memorized. - inactive, on 01/12/2009, -2/+58You realize it impossible to solve 5 sides without having solved all 6 sides, right?
- Backstab, on 01/12/2009, -1/+53Or take it apart and put it back together.
- punx, on 01/12/2009, -1/+51I still can't figure that damn thing out, and every one that I have had, ends up in several hundred pieces after hitting my wall. I hate Rubik's Cubes. I really do.
- oboshoe, on 01/12/2009, -4/+54"Wife Jean, 47, said it had felt like there had been three people in their marriage. "
This poor guy wasted his opportunity to get into a 3way on a rubiks cube. - a1lazydog, on 01/12/2009, -1/+502 people, 1 cube?
- SolituSneiku, on 01/12/2009, -3/+45I still having solved one, probably never will
- trogdor282, on 01/12/2009, -1/+42For my friend who is the Peter Griffin of our group, I specially made a Rubik's Cube Junior. It's a solid cube with a different color on each side. Made him chuckle.
- inactive, on 01/12/2009, -1/+38Like script kiddies who think they're hackers.
- Stap1eGun, on 01/12/2009, -1/+38He must solve it 5 times before it becomes official though.
http://www.worldcubeassociation.org/regulations/#e ... - jakobmakob, on 01/12/2009, -0/+35Best typo ever.
- doublefelix, on 01/12/2009, -0/+34I'd probably still be solving it too if I hadn't bought the instructions from the smart kid in class. Now the Rubik's Pyramid; that was easy.
- MrZaiko, on 01/12/2009, -0/+34Would have turn into an article about MURDER
- AndrewDB, on 01/12/2009, -0/+32Someone give him a 40,000 piece puzzle now.
- tas08, on 01/12/2009, -1/+33Reading that, at first I was like :-| and then I was like :-|
- PeteyBugs, on 01/12/2009, -9/+40If you watched a video that told you how to do it, did YOU really solve it?
- bracketdash, on 01/12/2009, -2/+31Yes, it does, but it feels nicer when doing it with someone else.
- karmaroks, on 01/12/2009, -0/+28Don't tell him about the kid that can solve it blind-folded in under a minute.
- iVisionX01, on 01/12/2009, -0/+28Giving up sounds better than taking 26 years in this case.
- neonoodle, on 01/12/2009, -0/+27JimmyTheClam: Your logic is infallible. I'd like to subscribe to your mailing list.
- sexybobo, on 01/12/2009, -2/+27http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsQIoPyfQzM
watched the video and solved one in 12 minutes. - Antitrust, on 01/12/2009, -0/+24..you can't finish a sentence?
- scojerroc, on 01/12/2009, -0/+23"I have often thought about getting rid of it"
women. - shandromand, on 01/12/2009, -1/+23Or, you know, figure out how to do it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsQIoPyfQzM - scribby, on 01/12/2009, -1/+22They make two-dimensional Rubiks Cubes?
- TNicholson, on 01/12/2009, -7/+28i am so tired of your comment; so... go eat a bag of dicks!
BURIED. - T8erT0T, on 01/12/2009, -2/+22http://www.letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=how+to+sol ...
- Optiks, on 01/12/2009, -0/+20I think mine was broken when I bought it. It came already solved.
- arizonabay, on 01/12/2009, -0/+19I read "The Secret" as well. I used the included shiv to pry open the Rubik's cube and rearrange the blocks to solve the puzzle. Best book ever.
- Screenguy, on 01/12/2009, -0/+180.94 nanoseconds? You must be a quick learner.
- dvsbastard, on 01/12/2009, -1/+19http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pqUedt1HdI
BURN! - girldrinkdrunk, on 01/12/2009, -1/+19Five sides? That would be some trick...
- steviesteveo, on 01/12/2009, -0/+18With his /feet/
- AdrianKRAZY, on 01/12/2009, -2/+19I got one for Christmas. Although tempted to use some help I would rather know that at the end of it I have completed it myself using my own thoughts. So far I can get 1 side and the row closest to the completed side. I have dozens of pieces of paper with everything I've tried. Hope it doesn't take me 26 years but I can understand why he did it.
- Prism123, on 01/12/2009, -1/+17He didn't necessarily solve it either, the article didn't say whether or not he eventually discovered an algorithm to solve it, in fact it implies he brute forced it and it would take him another 26 years to solve it again.
- skinnyskittles, on 01/12/2009, -0/+16Depends how much anger you have.
