- Skishy101, on 01/04/2009, -7/+111I feel sorry for her. She just lost her husband and won the lottery. On top of grieving for her husband she is going to be bombarded with bums trying to get money from her.
- GoonPowerX, on 01/04/2009, -21/+87These comments suck.
- Maynza, on 01/04/2009, -2/+44Hey Braniac and Nerdtron, the point was that she is 78 and in 21 years she will be 99 (ie. dead).
- coolchu001, on 01/04/2009, -5/+46Well the 21 year payment is over $10mil, but that's without taxes...
- cruzlee, on 01/04/2009, -3/+34Yes. And without interest or revenue. If she just cashes out the $6M and invests it safely she can get 6-8% realistically. She is then very likely to receive something very near that 477k figure for eternity. Without losing a dime of the initial sum. That is, if she doesn't put it on a future IceSave account.
- Yookji, on 01/04/2009, -2/+31Did she happen to win with the numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42?
- seriatim, on 01/04/2009, -2/+26Don't you mean, 'It's like 'Ray-ee-yain on your wedding day'?
Which isn't ironic, merely inconvenient or just annoying. - unconquerable, on 01/04/2009, -1/+15Dumbledorito is saying that because of the money she became a MILF, he never said that she was not willing, capable, interested. He didn't say she wasn't hot either. He wants to ***** her because of the money she now has. Not sexist, but he may be a gold digger.
- ChinezePanda, on 01/04/2009, -3/+16It's like rain on your wedding day!
- Skishy101, on 01/04/2009, -1/+13It depends on the state. Some states allow the payments to be made to the heirs, others just have the money die with you.
- lngarrett, on 01/04/2009, -8/+20Well if she has family I think it would make sense to take the annuity. Slightly unrelated, from the stories I've heard people who take the lump sum are either broke, in jail, or dead a few years later.
- BugMeNot2, on 01/04/2009, -2/+13Holy *****, what is that.
- inactive, on 01/04/2009, -3/+13Its a death row pardon, two minutes too late...
- maroon1872, on 01/04/2009, -2/+12at first i thought it was just a mindless comment graveyard, but it appears that the ones doing most of the comments were mindless
- duggdowncatisad, on 01/04/2009, -3/+13It's like rain on your wedding day
- Bartboy919, on 01/04/2009, -1/+9I bet she had a monkey paw.
- Jyaif, on 01/04/2009, -0/+8Try lending to a guy called Madoff, he can give you something like 5% per month.
- inactive, on 01/04/2009, -2/+9Only the interest is taxed so I would take the 6 million, buy a farm in a valley and contract someone to lay a nice 100gb/s pipe to my place.
- vsujohn2, on 01/04/2009, -3/+10Thats because the only people that win the lottery were dumb ***** who couldnt spend money right to begin with, hence why they were buying lottery tickets. Thing is your example is an over-generalization anyway. We always hear about the people that ***** it up, but what about the people you don't hear about that are doing peachy? We like to talk about the people that fuxxored up because it makes us feel better about not winning and gives us the illusion that money isn't everything.
- Foxp3, on 01/04/2009, -1/+8Yeah, but look how she wants to spend it. "here's 6 - 10 mil where do you want to go?". "I'm going to a casino!". dumbass.
- BrokenVisage, on 01/04/2009, -8/+15Good thing he lives in Connecticut.
- gfxlonghorn, on 01/04/2009, -1/+7How is it a Catch-22? Neither circumstances have anything to do with the other.
- TunisEleven, on 01/04/2009, -2/+8fail.
- opticwind, on 01/04/2009, -2/+8Ha, MY grandmother would. She'd be sky-diving and having sex with the best male prostitutes...
At the same time. - feliks2, on 01/04/2009, -4/+10Well, for her kids perhaps, if that was allowed? Not like shed spend all the 6 mil on herself.
- Gosunkugi, on 01/04/2009, -1/+7... *****, I didn't see this comment before I made the same one further up the thread. And who would've thought, it figures.
- EtherGnat, on 01/04/2009, -1/+7She's 78 years old. She should definitely sock her millions away for a rainy day rather than enjoying some of it.
- lord2800, on 01/04/2009, -1/+7Wow, way to fail at catching references...
- EtherGnat, on 01/04/2009, -2/+8I believe it's Kikkoman. Show me, Show you! http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/kikkoman-e

- thaonlyscarface, on 01/04/2009, -5/+10Whoa, I never thought I'd see my city make it to the front page of Digg.
- joe159, on 01/04/2009, -1/+66-8% is a moderate growth rate for investing in low risk stocks. procter and gamble, coke, etc.
i'll gladly help your friend earn 6-8%/year for a very small % if he has 20million :D - gixxer600, on 01/04/2009, -0/+5dont worry the church will know whats best for her../sarcasm
- inactive, on 01/04/2009, -1/+5Do you mind if I take your dog for a walk?
- LR2_, on 01/04/2009, -1/+5Well she could have just kept it under wraps or had one of her children handle it until she was ok with the attention.
- scarz99, on 01/04/2009, -4/+8Ahem...lucky for her.
- joghee, on 01/04/2009, -3/+7she could always buy another husband with all that money
- Rivetgeek, on 01/04/2009, -0/+4No it doesn't, you retard. MILF = mother id like to *****. nobody is confusing teenagers for mothers as a general rule
- norcalscan, on 01/04/2009, -1/+4Too bad FDIC usually just insures to 250,000 per account.
- Ledfndr, on 01/04/2009, -2/+5ascii fail
- slifty, on 01/04/2009, -1/+4Now that you mention it, this does remind me of 10,000 spoons when you need a knife.
- dudefaceguyman, on 01/04/2009, -0/+3Old people thing. My grandma is like 75 and she loves nothing more then to go to vegas and play those slot machines. Not focusing on winning money - just for the small reward of getting the machine to occasionally go, "DING DING DING, you're a winner!" and spit out a few quarters. The food is good, hotels are fancy, flashy lights everywhere, people are nice, etc.
They're like kids at Chuck E Cheese.. - Gosunkugi, on 01/04/2009, -2/+5It's like rain on your wedding day.
- DragonForce4, on 01/05/2009, -0/+3what
- po43292, on 01/04/2009, -0/+3Beer, hookers, chef boyardee. Then beer and hookers again.
- lngarrett, on 01/04/2009, -0/+3Eh, that's kind of looking a gift horse in the mouth I think. I would much rather have the guaranteed amount than to take the much lower lump sum and try my luck on the market, even as low as it as now.
