- JustJoe4Life, on 03/31/2009, -1/+228If that robber was smart he would have gone "yeah, it was a prank, gotcha! Now don't call the cops or anything 'kay?" and done his best fake laugh.
- Lucas123, on 03/30/2009, -8/+218Upon being told the robbery was real, the man passed out.
- bigdoof, on 03/31/2009, -4/+195Remember, it's the UK. They use the metric calendar.
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -5/+135i like how they call bank robbers " raiders " in England. I picture swords & horses. maybe a wizard or two
- 4rp4n3t, on 03/31/2009, -0/+114Don't bring an empty bag to a gun fight
- WriterSD, on 03/30/2009, -1/+82That's awesome!
- Maynza, on 03/31/2009, -0/+78That dude is a badass. He snatched the bag out of his hand.
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -0/+51Sometimes people use synonyms. It doesn't mean that an entire nation uses that term exclusively. By the way, I'm from the UK and everyone I know says 'bank robbers' ... which can get annoying in a discussion about cakes.
- spaghettiwstrn, on 03/31/2009, -1/+51"it's april the 1st isn't it mate? it's april fool's day"
hahahahaha that is too awesome - Haoie, on 03/31/2009, -1/+50Oh dear, just a few days too early.
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -1/+50Don't bring a gun to an April Fool fight.
- stuffradio, on 03/31/2009, -1/+48Don't bring an empty gun to a bag fight.
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -0/+45Cakes?
- Serinus, on 03/31/2009, -0/+44You mean most criminals we hear about aren't smart.
- wheresmclean, on 03/31/2009, -3/+47Just like Jamie Kennedy in the firefight in Malibu's Most Wanted.
Holy ***** I'm depressed that that's the first thing that came to my mind. - Auraness, on 03/31/2009, -1/+42403 days = 30 months? Someone explain please?
- jitterbits, on 03/31/2009, -1/+37If he didn't have arms, how did he carry the bag, huh? Huh??
- Frostek, on 03/31/2009, -3/+36Most criminals aren't smart though - that's why they're criminals.
- awerican, on 03/31/2009, -2/+33This kind of thing goes differently in the U.S. http://digg.com/world_news/Armed_customer_kills_ro ...
- Gareth321, on 03/31/2009, -1/+31You know, I think I could've pulled that off!
- wrillo, on 03/31/2009, -1/+30what?!

- Megalomatthew, on 03/31/2009, -2/+23Damn, Scotland must have some messed up April fools pranks.
- phike, on 03/31/2009, -2/+22That guy is an idiot.
(1) It wasn't even April fools day
(2) Even if it was, who would ever call out a guy who might have a gun?
A modern-day Forest Gump. - andrewunc, on 03/31/2009, -1/+20I guess neither of you read the article.
"last year." - lisaawesome, on 03/31/2009, -0/+19Magic.
- wpyh, on 03/31/2009, -0/+18FTA: "He opened it in front of staff and after seeing it was empty sat down and carried on reading his paper, Exeter Crown Court heard."
That paragraph made me laugh over and over. - malanic, on 03/30/2009, -7/+25Only a bit over a year in the hole for threatening armed robbery on a bank, 'just hours after appearing at a local court on a charge of criminal damage'.
That sounds like a bit more than 'affray' to me. What a joke.
The judge is an 'April' fool.
(,but kudos to the bloke who foiled him, even though he didn't realise it.) - wrillo, on 03/31/2009, -2/+20with all these sorts of comments, I'm starting to think I should just bring the bloody gun
- 12D3, on 03/31/2009, -0/+18They assume he thought it was an April Fools joke from his quote, but I think he is just a super bad ass that was mocking the guy as he disarmed him!
"It's April the 1st isn't it mate? It's April Fool's Day".
That sounds like something Bond would say as he calmly takes the bag away and then sits down and drinks his coffee. We aren't giving this guy enough credit! - onederboy, on 03/31/2009, -0/+16Bring an empty gun to a bag, don't fight.
- jitterbits, on 03/31/2009, -2/+17lol, even more aweomse because it was March 31!
- d0ctaew, on 03/31/2009, -5/+19no it wasn't. Kill yourself.
- jeremyadam, on 03/31/2009, -0/+14There's a new Nicholas Cage movie based on it.
- kdmkdmkdm, on 03/31/2009, -0/+13♫ But if you feel like loving me, if you've got the notion ♫
- AresDiggs, on 03/31/2009, -0/+12You lied to me! You said 'better' but that was not better...
- razorc03, on 03/31/2009, -5/+17I'm gonna go yell "BOMB" on an airplane.
"HAHA! April Fools!!" - itsjussed, on 03/31/2009, -1/+12apparently, he saw the future.
- RUFiO006, on 03/31/2009, -4/+15Really?!
I'd rather have what we have here in the UK... thanks. - inactive, on 03/31/2009, -3/+14The whole world doesn't live in your time zone, you *****. For example, I still have an hour and a half before it's the 31st. and you posted your comment an hour ago.
- xDynaBlade, on 03/31/2009, -2/+12I'm usually pretty good at calling Onion stories... not this time...
- ousthouse, on 03/31/2009, -0/+10The robber should've gone along with it instead of running away.
"Oh, you got me! Happy April Fools day!" - inactive, on 03/31/2009, -0/+9hey guy , no
- abajaj2280, on 03/31/2009, -0/+9i wish being that oblivious would actually benefit me in situations like this
- KibblesnBitts, on 03/31/2009, -0/+9http://instantrimshot.com/
- wcaclimbing, on 03/31/2009, -2/+11+1 from me.
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -1/+9Because perhaps they didn't report on it before? And if you read right under the headline it says "A man inadvertently foiled an attempted bank robbery after assuming it was an April Fool prank, A COURT HAS HEARD. " This was brought back up because the case is in court now, obviously. But you still haven't told me how this is a dupe. Please link to the digg article about this that was here before.
- Archer007, on 03/31/2009, -0/+8Every time someone British says "Jaffa Cakes", I imagine Goa'uld motherships landing...
