The first thing a cop asks you anytime they get the chance is always "Have you been drinking tonight?" I got pulled over the other day after having two beers (literally) and they wanted to take me to get a blood test so they hand cuffed me and let my friend who had more to drink than I drive my car.
I agree that drinking and driving is wrong, but when they start arresting you for a .05 BAC and forcing you to give blood and probably impound your car (I was lucky this time), something needs to give. I actually got a DUI once after blowing a 0.0 because a former friend of mine talked ***** to the cop and got everybody in the car arrested because he was a dumbass and had paraphernalia on him-- long story short I had to plead to a DUI and they agree to drop the possession charges that stemmed from my dumb ass friend having the paraphernalia because he wouldn't own up to it.
I just took an alcohol class and met a woman who opened her car to get her cell phone charger when she was drunk and got charged with a DUI-- she was a substance abuse councilor.
I know somebody else who got charged with a DUI for sleeping in his back seat while drunk even after he threw the keys in his friends lawn and still got charged.
I definitely think that there are people out there who are not safe on the road, but the way the law is written there is a good chance you will get harassed someday when you aren't even breaking the law. MADD had turned this whole thing into a witch hunt - debunkthelies, on 05/12/2008, -0/+13Two of my children were at a wedding reception when the police showed up to check the party for underage drinking, my 15year old son was getting a beer for another guest, who was of age but he was carrying it so he got a DUI, his sister had been eating a green apple caramel pop sucker and the cop said she smelled like alcohol, she was 16 and got a DUI. Neither was in a vehicle or had a license to drive. When they got their drivers license and insurance they had a DUI on their record. Go figure. The laws are out of control, and law enforcement needs to be reined in "We the People" have to take back our government and get rid of these ridiculous laws.
- lazerus9, on 05/12/2008, -1/+10.....Bush has reacted to the story above...."We have to get these (Ten Speed Terrorists) off the road! As a bicyclist you are either with us or against us"! "Take him to Guantomio......Guadhamino.....Guatomammo.....Take him to Cuba"!
- lazerus9, on 05/12/2008, -1/+6Wow! You are sure on top of things!
- Dukeye, on 05/13/2008, -0/+4I had a friend who knew he was probably over .05, so instead of driving he walked home from the bar...and was picked up for public drunkenness.
- JAVandiver, on 05/13/2008, -0/+3Get rid of MADD.
- JAVandiver, on 05/12/2008, -7/+2This article has absolutely nothing to to with President Bush.
