Man Kept Wife's Body in Drum for 23yrs 'cos He 'Loved' Her
aol.com.au — A man who murdered his wife and kept her remains in a 44-gallon drum for 23 years will spend 21 years in jail. In February, a Supreme Court jury found Frederick William Boyle, 58, of Carrum Downs guilty of murdering his first wife Edwina Boyle. At his plea hearing Boyle's barrister, Jane Dixon told Justice Jack Forrest that Boyle still loved her.

- DeskFlyer, on 03/19/2008, -12/+3I hate the stupid term 'cos' that's been implemented as some sort of online replacement for the word 'because' around the world. I don't care if you thing it's needed because you needed to keep your headline short enough or whatever but just stop it already. We live in an era where typing on the internet is not that ***** hard anymore. Save it for an apology text to your girlfriend next time.
- darkchild82, on 03/19/2008, -1/+12I only used 'cos because I ran out of space. I wouldn't mind if Digg expanded the headline field by 10 characters.

- Sheff, on 03/19/2008, -0/+3Yeah, the drum proves he loved her. If he didn't love her, then he would have just used a hefty bag.
- bsonline, on 03/19/2008, -3/+2She serves 23 years with no possibility of coming back to life, in a ***** drum. He gets a spacious cell that he gets to LIVE IN for only 21 years? I think the ratio of the cell to the drum should be taken into consideration, and give the ***** about 4200 years w/o parole. And then if he dares to die, cram him in a drum and throw that ***** in the ocean with the rest of our waste.
Edit: I'm not pro dumping waste in the ocean, but I'm hoping this guy gets ***** on by one of Cloverfields babies.- sstidman, on 03/19/2008, -0/+2Once your dead, it doesn't matter if you are in the drum for 23 years or 23 minutes. So it's not how long her corpse was in the drum that should decide his punishment, it's the act of killing her that should be considered in his sentence.
- bpm2000, on 03/19/2008, -0/+0agreed - and that should be straight up life. I will never understand how in taking a life (murder, not manslaughter of course) you don't have to serve for life AT LEAST.
- bsonline, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1Although I was being slightly satirical, consider this: We do have laws against defamation of a corpse. He should also be guilty of this.
To put it another way, if you rape a woman, kill her, and then rape her again... this should be three separate offenses upon which you can be accountable.
I think murder is wrong in almost any situation, but if you are a sick ***** that keeps a corpse for a keepsake that you "love", you've commited an additional offense. Now, I realize he will probably be dead at the end of this sentence in any case... but it does set a presedence for ignoring the second act.
- sstidman, on 03/19/2008, -0/+2Once your dead, it doesn't matter if you are in the drum for 23 years or 23 minutes. So it's not how long her corpse was in the drum that should decide his punishment, it's the act of killing her that should be considered in his sentence.
