Man Calls 911, Says He's Eating Girlfriend

wzzm13.com — Christopher McCuin called 911 early Saturday morning to report a particularly grisly crime. The Dallas Morning News says he "calmly described murdering his girlfriend and cooking her ear."

You're surprised when they happen, but you don't get shocked. I guess our definition of shock is someone shutting down, functionally.

    People new to these things will often shut down, unable to perform the job, what I would define as shock. Veterans of police work and similar jobs are horrified (many will recount nightmares from scenes they had to work years ago), but they can still go out and do the necessary job. It's a side of police work people don't usually think about when they bash cops for traffic enforcement and any time a taser is used.

I quit somewhere in between seeing a man's head being hacked off in close up, a struggling young man having his limbs hacked off and staring at the stumps, and a man shooting himself on live television, blood pumping profusely through his mouth and nose as he slunk down. I decided that stuff is not good for me - I'll stick to movie gore.
