- lohphat, on 11/03/2009, -3/+41I'm not saying this isn't sad but hundreds of kids go missing every year -- why does this case deserve special media attention? Are the devastated families of all the other victims in less pain?
- emecks, on 11/03/2009, -4/+33It must be horrendous for the McCann family to still have their beloved daughter missing, I wish them all the luck in the world with this appeal for information and that they find their little one again!
- milwaukeesbeast, on 11/03/2009, -2/+21maybe if they didnt kidnap her in the first place this wouldnt have been such a big deal
- FritoPendejo, on 11/03/2009, -2/+21You assume too much. Apparently everyone has forgotten the original story where they (supposedly) left their daughter alone in an apartment with the door unlocked while they went out to eat. They flew home while the investigation was still going. Investigators found the girl's blood in the trunk of the rental car. Then dogs detected the smell of a dead body on the mother's clothes.
- AmyVernon, on 11/03/2009, -1/+19I cannot even imagine what they must be feeling. So sad.
- Ramble, on 11/03/2009, -3/+19Perhaps they shouldn't have killed her then.
- BeShirtHappy, on 11/03/2009, -5/+21I can only imagine what they have gone through... not knowing where their precious little girl is.
- skunkman62, on 11/03/2009, -1/+11"why does this case deserve special media attention? "
it is a know fact that the media loves missing white kids. - pinkpackrat, on 11/03/2009, -3/+12Imagine the years going by and not knowing what has happened to your child. My heart breaks for the family
- diggitydoc, on 11/03/2009, -0/+9make sure to lock the door when you leave her alone in your hotel room on vacation...
- DevilToo, on 11/03/2009, -2/+11This is certainly getting a digg from me.
- JustinNoland, on 11/03/2009, -1/+9While I empathize with the family and their loss, how many children go missing every year that don't make the front page of sensationalist media sites? This is yet another example of an unfortunate but overbearing trend of young, white girls from reasonably well-off families who make the news while thousands or tens of thousands of other families are left with nothing more than cold-case reports and often eternal uncertainty. And every time one of these kids is found alive after two or five or even twenty years, their story is pimped and extorted by every medium of media. I can only imagine how that must tear open old wounds in those families that attempted to move on and recover from their loss.
- banderwocky, on 11/03/2009, -2/+8It's so ***** horrible.
- evenflowdave, on 11/03/2009, -2/+8heart breaking. somebody somewhere know something - please help reunite a family with their little girl!
- Crossmenjeff, on 11/03/2009, -0/+6missing white girl, front page, quick!
- cooterville, on 11/03/2009, -1/+6Correct me if im wrong, but I thought that it was pretty much proven that her parents had something to do with it?
- diggitydoc, on 11/03/2009, -0/+5which parts of her?
- Carpy, on 11/03/2009, -2/+7Thought for the day: "It's never too late to do that right thing."
- IphtashuFitz, on 11/03/2009, -1/+5Given the recent rescue of Jaycee Lee Dugard 18 years after she was kidnapped I guess it's possible Madeline is still alive somewhere since there's no indication otherwise. I sincerely hope they find her, and much sooner than 18 years from now. I can't fathom the horrors that people like Jaycee and other girls/women in similar situations have to face.
- stephhicks68, on 11/03/2009, -2/+6Just a terribly sad story. I certainly hope that little Madeline will be found one day soon.
- merdok, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4No it was never proven, but there is something very suspect about them, particularly the mother. I would not be surprised at all if it turns out they killed her by accident or something and went to these lengths to cover it up.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v347/vintendo/Ma ... - lolwatermelon, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3Pretty sure everyone, at this point, knows that the parents sold her into sex slavery and that she's been dead since the first time this hit the news.
- upnortherik, on 11/03/2009, -3/+6You are a piece of *****, troll or not.
- merdok, on 11/03/2009, -2/+5Dude, thats really not on.
- neftaly, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2He's keeping a low profile - don't forget, the investigation is still ongoing.
- FritoPendejo, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2We ignore the missing black children, but we also look the other way on black serial killers, probably almost none of which you can name. It's an understood deal.
- nath1234, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2Oh please, how about you think about what you're saying: one case out of how many thousands out of how many years?
Is there a chance? Sure! Just like there's a chance of winning the lottery, but it is ever so small a chance. You could put the down payment on a Ferrari assuming you'll win, but it's not going to really work. Reality is that that chance is beyond anything remotely likely at this stage and to cling to that forever just in case is diverting time, money and effort on other more recent and likely still alive cases.
They need to grieve, accept statistics and move on for all their sakes and stop betting on an ever decreasing chance she'll turn up. - angelababy, on 11/03/2009, -10/+12obviously you're missing the point
yes, thousands upon thousands of kids go missing every year
but how many of them have rich parents like this one? and how many of them are especially gorgeous like her??
most likely, she is dead, and the money spent on this fruitless search could be devoted to greater causes
but damn.. this girl is so pretty
whatever pedophile snatched this one must be having the time of his life. or her life (cause her life is certainly done) - sladek, on 11/03/2009, -5/+7………………………………………………………………………………………………

- AmazingSteve, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2Plus he was too wrapped up in the "11 year old bride gives birth on wedding day" story so I'd imagine the little guy's all tuckered out.
- anonymousmedic, on 11/03/2009, -3/+4She's dead, Jim.
- diggitydoc, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1pure genius. diggs for the both of you.
- upnortherik, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1People joking about missing children makes me angry.
- EatingPie, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Not exactly sure where I was hotheaded, I was just pointing out your own bias in the case, and how it helped verify my concerns.
If anything your post above goes even further to affirm these concerns. Saying the McCanns sent suspects to the "meat grinder," rejecting clues because they were from the McCanns' private investigators, saying you believe they were involved, saying you don't give a *****, the case i closed, etc.
If you feel this way, how do the police feel? That is my point. They should be looking for facts, for truth, not just picking one likely suspect and sticking like glue. But that's what they do, and it is a frustration.
And this has nothing to do with Portugal at all, remember the examples I gave that motivated my post were from what I've seen in the United States.

http://images.encyclopediadramatica.com/images/2/2 ... - nath1234, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Or they can keep wasting their lives and future happiness I guess..
- raviollininja, on 11/03/2009, -1/+2I understand the parallels, but it's not exactly the same. This case is permeated by politics all the way, but that detail never got into north american media.
The portuguese police gathered evidence that pointed to the possibility that the parents were involved in the disappearing. Then, stupidly, they sent the evidence to the UK to be analised. Guess what? The DNA evidences were declared unsuitable for testing after a hell lot of time sitting in a laboratory.
The UK government did look like it was trying to derail the whole investigation since early in the game. It couldn't be accepted that a established middle class british white couple could do anything like that.
Don't forget the close connections that Gerry McCann had with Gordon Brown.
It all became a Portugal vs UK matter in the end. The UK's media went all round the clock bashing portuguese investigators and police in general, treating the country as part of the third world. Since then, portuguese people got very wary of the McCanns. - redheadguy719, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1"this whole reverend wright scandal has been in the news more than a missing white girl" - Jon Stewart
- EatingPie, on 11/03/2009, -2/+3The police in Portugal and Britain blamed the parents. They couldn't prove it, but they have largely stuck to that.
They need to be reminded of the Jaycee Lee Duggard. Exactly the same deal. The <10 expletives deleted> police made her step father -- the only witness -- suspect number 1, and NEVER got off that track. Even to the point that the police completely missed all evidence of her whereabouts when they WERE RIGHT THERE during regular visits to the kidnapper's home due to him being a registered sex offender.
I am so saddened by this case -- and many others -- because, so often, the police focus on the wrong suspect.
-Pie - MizuhoChan, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1You know she's dead. I mean yes it really does suck, I hope nobody has to go through it again, but if she were alive, somebody, somewhere must have seen her.
I don't blame them for not giving up though. - bashnu, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1Could you please share a link or so concerning that "it was pretty much proven that her parents had something to do with it" and that there "is something very suspect about them, particularly the mother"
For the sake of knowledge.
Thank you in advance. - inactive, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1I don't know much about the case but about the parents being suspects, not sure why people would be surprised. The Jon Bonet case was very shady as well, it is not out of the ordinary for seemingly normal upper-middle class parents to be involved in pedophilia and child slavery rings. Instead of focusing on the boogie men on the street more should be done on investigating those closest to the victims.
- diggitydoc, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1there was no beat off?
- nath1234, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1She's gone..
Move on people and maybe the parents will too (if they weren't somehow involved). At some point you've got to admit the chances of finding them is so remote as to be nothing more than delaying dealing with the situation.
That and the colossal waste of money when there are so many ongoing cases cropping up.
At this rate we'll be seeing computer aged 100 year old pictures of Madeline Maccan. - raviollininja, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1"I was just pointing out your own bias"
My bias is declared and it is unharmful for the quest for Madeleine. As I stated, I wouldn't compromise any chance to find the girl if I had the power.
"How do the police feel?"
As I said, the police doesn't feel anything about it, the case is indeed closed and unsolved.
"They should be looking for facts"
They did, and were stopped along the way. There were evidences that pointed towards a possible scenary. That's when all went bezerk.
"not just picking one likely suspect and sticking like glue"
Several people were investigated. The McCanns were investigated only in the end, when criminal investigation manuals point to investigate first the parents and close family/friends, in order to dismiss them.
"has nothing to do with Portugal at all"
The problem being that the UK media really made a very bad name of a country whose most important industry is tourism. That's why I refered the country, and its people overall disgust for the case.
Is it the McCann's fault? To a certain degree, yes.
Should we be still discusting this? No.
You're obviously acting out of kindness for the girl. I would like to believe the girl will be found alive. I don't want her to show up dead just for the confort of my beliefs (bad choice of word, but I can't find a better one). - FritoPendejo, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1There's extremely few missing children who are taken by strangers. Almost all of the cases involve relatives taking the children or them running away. So no, there's not a sheer number. So wipe your tears off and look up some statistics sometime.
- grattanmc, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Come on, how can you say that? Didn't you read the article. Jaycee Dugard was a driving motivation behind this and everyone thought she was dead, for 18 years.
Besides, you are not one of her parents so really shouldn't be saying things like this. They're both doctors, they're both educate, they're both emotionally stable and I think there will be a date in the not to distant future when the say, enough's enough, but what would you do if you were in their shoes and JC Dugard walks shockingly back into the this world.
Think about it -
