- ChileanGoD, on 09/25/2009, -0/+18Holy *****!... This match made me wonder what was going on with Bobby Fischer. It turns out he died last year.

RIP Bobby. - icepick314, on 09/25/2009, -1/+18so when is he going for rematch against Deep Blue?
- RatatRatR, on 09/25/2009, -0/+16As opposed to what?
- ParticleMan420, on 09/25/2009, -0/+11no, i'm screwed. i'll stick to video games i guess
- milwaukeesbeast, on 09/25/2009, -3/+12theres no point, computers cant be beaten by humans anymore in traditional matches
- bmson, on 09/25/2009, -1/+9Bobby Fischer
- urbanetruth, on 09/25/2009, -3/+10kasparov was dishonoured by penis-copter
- f54280, on 09/25/2009, -1/+8I read somewhere that an estimate of the amount of money he personally made from chess was 23 million of dollars.
That may not be that bad to "spend your life playing a ***** game", don't you think ? - inactive, on 09/25/2009, -0/+7Does it start with Ka and have a P in the middle or what?
- MrAwesomeMan, on 09/25/2009, -0/+6I can't wait til this comes out on ESPN Classics.
- zadadka, on 09/25/2009, -1/+7I entirely agree with you regarding the spirit of the Bobby Fischer Chess Personality...he was an awesome player, and he made many significant contributions to the chess world...such as his own flavour (flavor) to the rules of playing the noble game, and even an improved competition clock.
However, his abuse of the media stage, combined with his extreme and unsavoury (...unsavory) personal views, perhaps suggest why his passing didn't make the big news....no-one really wants to lend any credence to his non-chess persona, or introduce/resurrect thought of those sentiments.
(I won't drone on about it here, just Google it....there's plenty there to find)
IMHO, of course.
, - MisterEThoughts, on 09/25/2009, -1/+7Yea, what about Deep Blue? What is more important!
- firebhaal, on 09/25/2009, -0/+6for some reason i picture chess players as multi-dimensional sages of our species :)
- zadadka, on 09/25/2009, -1/+7As a chess fan, I get some odd reactions when I recommend www.redhotpawn.com.
Digg users should check (lol) it out...where else can you find yourself being mated several times a night? ;) - bicyclethief, on 09/25/2009, -0/+6then you found out you actually took the meth before the game and that it was actually bill with a wig who tricked you into playing chess and having sex
- ChileanGoD, on 09/25/2009, -0/+5.....ehh... so far it's once a decade.
- yeghia, on 09/25/2009, -0/+5RIP Bobby Fisher!
- greywren, on 09/25/2009, -0/+4Neither did Kasparov's until he changed it from Weinstein (his father's name) to Kasparian (his mother's name) to Kasparov.
- motionone, on 09/25/2009, -2/+6this is sort of like when i beat bill's mom in chess. she was an expert. the only difference was that i had sex with her after. i subsequently took her purse and bought some meth with the $50 cash she had in there. it was a pretty sweet day.
- DatDudeWiggs, on 09/25/2009, -2/+5I thought Kasparov went into hiding a few years back...
- cawpin, on 09/25/2009, -1/+4No, computers can't be beaten by humans RIGHT NOW because Bobby Fischer is dead and nobody can yet.
- earthtones, on 09/25/2009, -0/+3Mogus - he spends most of his time fighting Putin. This is his first semi-serious chess match in years. So apparently he kinda agrees with you.
- EtherGnat, on 09/25/2009, -2/+5Boo ***** hoo. He inspired a lot of people to play chess, which has a number of benefits: improved concentration, critical thinking skills, creative, pattern recognition skills, etc..
Being great at chess is no guarantee of being great at anything else anyway, and being so judgmental of how a man who is hurting nobody chooses to dedicate his life just makes you a prick. To what benefit of mankind have you put your obvious talents (or lack thereof) to use? - doctechnical, on 09/25/2009, -0/+3In blitz chess the player has maybe 5 minutes to make all their moves. In traditional chess it's more like hours.
- cawpin, on 09/25/2009, -1/+4"perhaps suggest why his passing didn't make the big news"
Yeah, it was just reported ON EVERY NEWS OUTLET ON THE PLANET. - KingGorilla, on 09/25/2009, -1/+4overweight cats
- damnshoes, on 09/25/2009, -3/+5King me!
- counterplex, on 09/26/2009, -0/+2ParticleManov?
- firecow, on 09/25/2009, -0/+2I think the games would have been much more interesting if they played regular time instead of rapid and blitz. I watched these on the live feed and Karpov was in time trouble for the majority of the games.
- earthtones, on 09/25/2009, -0/+2Actually more than its share.
- Roobix, on 09/26/2009, -0/+2it really happened. I read it on the internets
- bicyclethief, on 09/25/2009, -0/+2I believe it was 5 minutes 2 sec increments.
- elie195, on 09/25/2009, -0/+1I wonder what those "Blitz" matches mean. 1 minute per move? Who knows. That still seems pretty slow, although I bet these guys normally take a lot more time to think.
- TandilAjedrez, on 10/15/2009, -0/+1the best of all history..Gary kasparov !!!, see soon the other great player that theacher Gary...u name is Magnus Carlsen !!
- uruururr, on 09/26/2009, -1/+2Yay, chess' once-a-year newsworthy event :)
- earthtones, on 09/28/2009, -0/+1:)
- kooft, on 09/26/2009, -0/+1B. Lewis Topov
- doctechnical, on 09/25/2009, -1/+2Then you might want to read up on Bobby Fischer. Chess has it's share of nuts, like everything else.
/boasting in an open foyer - ParticleMan420, on 09/25/2009, -0/+1well, i suck at chess too.
so thats probably why it didnt work out for me - poidh, on 09/25/2009, -2/+2Why are you replying to yourself rather than to those who required a reply from you? To 'fly under the radar'?
- doctechnical, on 09/25/2009, -2/+2Somewhere in the world a genius is wasting his/her time grinding out the levels in World of Wankcraft, and their ears are burning.
- jayjayjoni, on 09/25/2009, -3/+3Kasparov needs to get out of politics and back into chess -.-
- ChessNetwork, on 11/18/2009, -0/+0No surprise to me that Kasparov whooped Karpov. =)
- cawpin, on 09/25/2009, -1/+1Yes, the true "Greatest player of all time."
- motionone, on 09/25/2009, -2/+1at least i beat her in chess... she was a former champion...
- MogusMaximus, on 09/25/2009, -2/+1 m
- BoobsRPleasant, on 09/25/2009, -4/+3He was never popular. Everyone thought he was just some whiny ***** who couldn't admit that he has no chance at being the President of Russia.
