I Don't Want to Go to School, Mom!

news.yahoo.com — 10-year-old Mexican boy dreaded returning to school after Christmas break so much that he glued his hand to his bed. Sandra Palacios spent nearly two hours Monday morning trying to free her son Diego's hand with water, oil and nail polish remover before calling authorities.

You did see how focus of the nationality of the boy opened the commentary to a shocking amount of racism. If it had been some US kid, I wouldn't have had to read through all that "LOLwetback_landscaper" ***** just now. That is why s/he said that it shouldn't have been necessary to say a MEXICAN boy. It was irrelevant where the kid is from, and a lot of posters showed their asses.

      (I have no documented latino ancestry btw, so don't act like I have a vested interest. People just don't realize how prejudicial it is to always include race/nationality in statements where that information is irrelevant. Diggers should be intelligent people with a snarky sense of humor. That and ethnocentrism/racism/etc are incompatible. Get a grip.)

My dad went to a Boarding school and he told me one of the things the kids would do to avoid going to class was wrap their arms in a wet towel all night long, then in the morning, slam their arm against the wall. The wet towel softens up the bone enough so that when one slams it to the wall, it breaks. NOW THAT IS DETERMINATION.
