- inactive, on 09/29/2008, -9/+70So here's what bugs me:
When I lived in Ellington, CT there was an AMAZING family called the Rossows who adopted severely disabled children.
Here's a news clip from '83 of them meeting Reagan because of their amazingness.
By the late 80's they had probably a dozen more severely disabled children. Many were in school with us "normal" kids and taught us a lot about the fact that who we are has nothing to do with our bodies.
It bugs me that those people struggle to give desperately needy children a loving home, whereas these people are just dumping more people on the earth.
yeah, I'm sure it's tough to raise your 17 f'n kids, but the more I think about it the less I think of them.
Having TLC enable this sort of behavior costs them points with me, too. Enabling excess is bad. - basye, on 09/29/2008, -4/+59How are we paying for their kids? If you read about them further there is no indication of them accepting any kind of public assistance, as they are pretty much self-sufficient.
Yes, what they've done seems strange, wasteful and ludicrous to most of us. But if they're not a burden on society, raise good citizens on their own dime, then IMO it's not my business and it's ok. Now if those kids were all little delinquents that would be a different matter, but that's not what is happening here. - inactive, on 09/29/2008, -17/+60Great, let's reward people for being socially and environmentally irresponsible.
- inactive, on 09/29/2008, -1/+43"These people are truly, mind-numbingly dull." I figured that out as soon as I realized they all had names that started with 'J'. How ***** creative is that?!
- benjaminbr, on 09/30/2008, -4/+43Idiocracy?
- RobotKeaton, on 09/30/2008, -1/+38I wonder how long I could live in their home before they realize I'm not their son.
- inactive, on 09/29/2008, -0/+35Wow, how can they survive with this many kids around?! My head would explode with all those kids around, omg.

hotdog - hallway - Cancerkitty, on 09/29/2008, -1/+32Billionaires, really? I've known many children of larger families (ten plus kids), and none of them were on public assistance.
- AmyVernon, on 09/29/2008, -1/+30I find it amusing that a show about a family with 17 children can be boring.
- PeauxBoy, on 09/30/2008, -7/+34Clearly you have no idea what you are speaking of. I have 7 kids and make 70k a year while my wife stays home with the youngest ones. The 4 oldest all go to private schools and they all enjoy their own sports/activities and I still have enough to put a little aside for savings/college. How can we do this? Easy, we rarely eat out, we buy groceries with coupons and specials, and we make due with what we have. My car was used when I bought as was the family minivan. We've had the same tv for the last 8 years and haven't found a need to invest in all the other throw away trappings of modern life.
- angrycat, on 09/30/2008, -1/+26They look pretty religious, I wouldn't be suprised if he's against any form of birth control which means any time he wants nooky from the wife they're ending up with a kid hahahahaha
- bananasluggy, on 09/29/2008, -3/+28After the first couple of kids, they start to take care of each other... all you have to do is pop them out.
Do they deserve their own show?
No.
"Spread forth and multiply!"
"...ok ok... enough... you can stop... any time...oh Me, STOP ALREADY!" - fumar, on 09/30/2008, -4/+28The scary part is these people have no excuse, they aren't Catholics.
USE A DAMN CONDOM! - divinediva, on 09/29/2008, -1/+24They make the even-keeled Jon and Kate look like the Honeymooners.
- taylorblue, on 09/29/2008, -0/+22If you have that many kids you need to come up with a theme.
- ousthouse, on 09/30/2008, -1/+23According to one of those TLC documentaries, they live debt free and they've been debt free since they started having kids. They appear to be very frugal and happier than most people I know.
- blix797, on 09/30/2008, -1/+20"PUT THE DICK DOWN."
-Chris Rock - fxu1989, on 09/30/2008, -1/+19I remember watching an episode one time where the mother said:
"Having children is like having flowers, the more the merrier"... not exactly word by word, but you get the drift.
The only good thing about having so many kids is that you have your own personal army...... - ngmcs8203, on 09/30/2008, -0/+17They built the house on their own over a long ass period of time. I think they're still pretty much self sufficient.
- basye, on 09/29/2008, -0/+17I love the theme "places you were conceived".
- Someguy101, on 02/19/2009, -12/+28The problem is that they are contributing to overpopulation.

About The Duggar Family
http://www.duggarfamily.com/aboutus.html - Swingdown, on 09/30/2008, -0/+16Jana is kinda hot, I'd be scared to even hug her though... End up with little dugger grandchildren.
- taylorblue, on 09/29/2008, -0/+15I would give you a million diggs for that one! I go crazy with 2....17...NUTS!
- adrenalmedulla9, on 09/30/2008, -1/+16...kate is a bitch...
- inactive, on 09/30/2008, -3/+18I'm the oldest of nine children, and it's awesome. My family is the most important thing to me in the world and they bring me so much happiness. You know how you love your brother or sister? now multiply that by nine. it kicks ass. I can only imagine how happy this family is.
- inactive, on 09/30/2008, -5/+20maybe if you 'ate out' more often, you wouldn't have so many damn kids! ;)
- rdwinder, on 09/29/2008, -0/+14How do you afford so many kids??
Im thinking they sold there creativity.. - Surferess, on 09/29/2008, -0/+14I agree, at least give them their own set of initials! geeeez!
- blinkfink182, on 09/30/2008, -1/+15"haven't found a need to invest in all the other throw away trappings of modern life."
Except the Internet obviously. - str3ama, on 09/29/2008, -1/+14They're clearly well off, or they are now - look at photos of their home:
http://www.duggarfamily.com/photos.html
They have a freaking restaurant inside their house. "A few of Duggars go through the serving line in the Industrial Kitchen (which contains 4 ovens, 2 griddles, 4 freezers, 2 refrigerators, 2 sinks, a pizza oven, a deep fryer & a popcorn machine." - Typhoon2009, on 09/30/2008, -0/+13More like:
atom of hydrogen - universe - howdareyou, on 09/30/2008, -1/+13This is abuse. It is impossible to be a parent to that many kids. These "parents" are parentalizing their children.
- StrangeFamous, on 09/30/2008, -0/+12"See this? This is what happens when you don't wrap it!"

- punkcat, on 09/30/2008, -0/+118 is enough.
- MaxMWood, on 09/30/2008, -1/+12You know they will be getting paid a ***** load from the TV Series.. right?
- salter84, on 09/30/2008, -1/+12after the first 5 they just started walking out.

- AdeleMor, on 09/29/2008, -9/+18It's a sneak preview of the next generation of the Palin family!
- Zaggynl, on 09/30/2008, -1/+10Hah, back in the old days we didn't even keep count.
-Adam.
"When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died." - megapeg, on 09/30/2008, -5/+13Because apparently it's possible to properly nurture 18 children and make them feel loved, appreciated and like they are a unique, special individual... as opposed to being yet another sheep in a giant herd.
- spectrox, on 09/30/2008, -5/+13Why is it that these folks ALWAYS home school their kids?
- MicrosoftBob, on 09/30/2008, -2/+10Unfortunately, The Bible doesn't say anything about adoption.
Unfortunately, The Bible does say something about being fruitful and multiplying. -
