The Patriot Act MUST GO!!!
The 4th amendment is under continued assault by the US government because it is an impediment to "law enforcement". Our freedom shouldn't be traded for safety. - theskillwithin, on 04/25/2009, -2/+45Obama voted for the reinstatement of the patriot act.
there is no hope. - TwilightMadness, on 04/25/2009, -1/+40People like these librarians are the true heroes of, not only America but any country/peoples who value liberty & freedom!
- Barackalypse, on 04/25/2009, -2/+39Yes there is, hope that people will wake up and stop voting for mainstream candidates that don't actually uphold the Constitution.
- wevegotthejazz, on 04/25/2009, -4/+40for those of you who aren't familar with her, Amy Goodman hosts what is probably the best daily news show on TV

Demand that this won't stand!
Repeal The Patriot Act! - urel, on 04/25/2009, -3/+30Good story. Gagged librarians, men in black, patrons rights at stake.....
This is stuff for movies, not real life. - WhiteHatTrick, on 04/25/2009, -1/+20I think you mean libertarian. neo libs are neo cons.
- SignOfHope, on 04/25/2009, -1/+20the public record reigns supreme.
this is why stories, even dragged-out ones like these, are important. - herozero, on 04/25/2009, -0/+18this is getting kinky

- Barackalypse, on 04/25/2009, -2/+16Good for the librarian for standing up to the FBI, but shame on the library for keeping any computer usage records in the first place.
- EL0UNGE, on 04/25/2009, -4/+18You are doing it wrong.....you have to say Candlejack in order for him to app-
- JagPop, on 04/25/2009, -1/+14America has too few heros. Thank you, librarians.
- AngelBunny, on 04/25/2009, -1/+13every other thing the guy says is sarcastic to get a bit of a laugh out of whoever is listening. it is a fun story if you're not an ass.
- jturbo, on 04/25/2009, -0/+11George Bush's America? This is still happening now. More like America, fooled and hoodwinked. Nice to see some people have backbone in the good old US of A.
- ZigVicious, on 04/25/2009, -0/+10omg internet tough guy!
- 0mniscient, on 04/25/2009, -3/+13Seriously, it's not that hard. You complete saying Candlejack and there is no hyp
- smacksaw, on 04/25/2009, -0/+9Can we repeal the Patriot Act yet?
- PlusTheBear, on 04/25/2009, -0/+9You can justify every evil action by saying it's for the greater good. He can get more done being mainstream. He can limit freedoms and condone illegal activities. As long as he's elected... but these are his ACTIONS, not his words.
- dramaqueenmama, on 04/25/2009, -0/+8I'm proud to be a librarian. We have had meetings about this type of thing happening.
- tj_walker, on 04/25/2009, -1/+9Thank you Ben Franklin for the concept of the Library! Now put that in your tea bag.
= : )K - GawtMilk, on 04/25/2009, -0/+7The World Bank logo? You mean a globe? I guess the World Bank does actually run the planet. After all, their logos are the same.
- inactive, on 04/25/2009, -0/+7I WiILL march shoulder to shoulder with you, my friend.
- scottc, on 04/25/2009, -1/+8Indeed. I was on her show once, but it was radio back then, not t.v., and she was in another state. Nevertheless, I was thrilled to be interviewed by someone I respected (unlike most journalists).
- henrik.falk, on 04/25/2009, -0/+7I wonder how it comes that librarians are always so awesome.
- Protonz, on 04/25/2009, -1/+8Libertarians are socially liberal, economically conservative.
So we likely agree on half of our ideas. - r0g3r, on 04/25/2009, -0/+7That's just sad.
- baldboy7, on 04/25/2009, -0/+6He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither.
-Benjamin Franklin
GET RID OF THE PATRIOT ACT NOW! - Zpanzer, on 04/25/2009, -0/+6You have my sword
- inactive, on 04/25/2009, -1/+7Easy, constitution.
I'd love to have a court bring up charges against me relating to the "Patriot Act" so they could get slapped with a hard dose of reality. - phenom2k7, on 04/25/2009, -0/+6And I, thigh to thigh.
- Sarkoon, on 04/25/2009, -0/+6The problem with your statement is that most liberals don't believe in individual liberty. Libertarians do, however.
- optrenium, on 04/25/2009, -2/+8Amy Goodman, a MILF? *rubs eyes* Sorry bro, have at it!
- Macgyrl64, on 04/25/2009, -0/+6There should be a Hug A Librarian Day.
- shallot, on 04/25/2009, -0/+5Thank God...we still have folks with balls....
- abajaj2280, on 04/25/2009, -0/+5something similar to this happened in Connecticut, and my friend's dad was the librarian. he came in and spoke to our class about it. it was pretty damn awesome:
http://www.aclu.org/natsec/gen/25702prs20060530.ht ... - PlusTheBear, on 04/25/2009, -0/+5And that's why they have to keep fighting it. Let the people forget and that's worse than a loss. You, sir, are destroying this country.
- Ebichu, on 04/25/2009, -0/+5dug for freedom fighters
- SeraphX, on 04/25/2009, -0/+5Librarians are a lot more badass.
- Seminarian, on 04/25/2009, -0/+5Well, actually, they did. The didn't hand over the information. They got out from under the gag order. Now they're going around telling people that government thugs are spying on citizens and forbidding people to talk about it. You didn't think four people could get the USA PATRIOT Act (caps are not shouting, caps are because the name of the act is an acronym for something too long and convoluted to remember) declared unconstitutional, did you?
- ciphun, on 04/25/2009, -4/+8Hate to say it, but the guy in the video seems like he likes to hear himself talk. It was almost like he was reading directly from a book. That story, although very impressive, could've taken half as long if his ego in telling it was mixed with the narrative. Sorry to sound negative, but he really irritated me.
- maliath, on 04/25/2009, -0/+4Do you have to go to graduate school of information science to become a librarian? Or can you just become involved in bibliography at a major library by having another degree in a related field?
