- c0mputar, on 10/22/2009, -9/+46The argument that parents should be allowed to circumcise their boys is *****.
- timschuit, on 10/22/2009, -15/+48"Circumcision"....a fancy word for genital mutilation.
Religious fundamentalists like this disgust me. I hope this man is hit by a train. That's not hyperbole either. The world would be better off without delusional human garbage like him. - Suricou, on 10/22/2009, -2/+34Circumcision in the US is a bit odd - it wasn't introduced there for religious reasons, but as a part of a campaign to protect people against the evils of masturbation. At the time widely believed to cause insanity, muscular dystrophy, hair loss, epilepsy, and just about anything else you can think of. It seemed like a good idea at the time - circumcise infants to reduce their sensetivity, and thus the pleasure they might get from masturbation later in life. With time though all the concerns about the health effects of masturbation were found to be groundless - but by then, the practice of circumcision had become routine, and people just kept on doing it long after they forgot why.
Jews and muslims excepted, of course. For them it really is religious. But no major Christian sect has ever required it. - N00F, on 10/22/2009, -6/+38Show your love for God. Mangle your tally-whacker
- Boogalou007, on 10/22/2009, -7/+31If he'd been an atheist, his 4 year old son wouldn't have had his penis cut up. Hey, at least the father got him drunk first!
Praise Jesus! - Kekeh, on 10/22/2009, -5/+27If a person already has something and loses it, or doesn't have something, they are very inclined to think it's for the best and that's how they wanted it to begin with.
"I wouldn't have wanted it anyways", to make one feel better about losing something.
Oh, and it's a barbaric act just like the female version. The child can have it cut off if they want to, once they grow up and can make the decision on their own without pressuring. - sethwebb, on 10/22/2009, -5/+25ill ***** complain!! i had my genitals mutilated as an infant and hate the fact
- bills534, on 10/22/2009, -5/+23They only prefer un-circumcised men because that is what seems "normal" to them. All this really says is that genital mutilation in this country has become so commonplace men need to have an important part of there body cut off just to fit in.
- RTFMA, on 10/22/2009, -6/+23The issue here is not religion; it's brain damage. The fact that the guy had a brain injury was mentioned one time and buried at the end of the rant. Anti-theism was liberally scattered throughout the article, along with ridiculing the guy for being a dumbass. Well no *****! His brain doesn't work right. The real question is what the hell was the guy doing with the kid in the first place? Did nobody realize he was nuts? It's terrible what the kid had to go through, but at least he got decent medical care, and we can infer that he will be fine. With a father that irresponsible, it could have been a lot worse.
- mksmothers, on 10/22/2009, -6/+23My son was born ten years ago, the nurse staff asked me if I wanted them to circumcise him at birth. Disgusted, I told them under no circumstances were they to mutilate my son. My wife was actually mad at me because I didn't even discuss it with her. What is there to discuss, circumcision is barbaric and not medically necessary. Anyone that does this, even for religious reasons, is a barbaric *****.
- c0mputar, on 10/22/2009, -6/+21I'll pretend you didn't try to support parents circumcising their kids just because girls you know dislike uncircumcised men. When the ***** is it up to the parents or some girls to decide whether or not a grown man can get to decide if he wants to be circumcised?
- c0mputar, on 10/22/2009, -3/+16@portnoy
Do you know the percentage of men who become circumcised later, and for visual enhancement alone? If not, then your argument is useless to discussion. We can immediately dismiss your argument with known psychological facts that Kekeh pointed out. In other words, shut the ***** up. - gordigor, on 10/22/2009, -0/+12Dam parents. I want my foreskin back!
- fatherdoom, on 10/22/2009, -0/+8He really dicked that up.
- Suricou, on 10/22/2009, -2/+10And how does word get out? Do you make a habit of bragging about your circumcision?
- rmxz, on 10/22/2009, -1/+8I think circumcision is also a way of religions saying "see how much we control you - we've got you by the balls; don't mess with us" in a most disturbingly literal way.
- askantik, on 10/22/2009, -3/+10It wasn't actually the brain damage... it was all religion's fault! Without religion, that guy would've not even been brain damaged!
/s
I'm not even religious (and certainly not in the traditional sense) and I get tired of all the anti-religious ***** on here. Find something else to care about... it seems like so many people have a one-track mind. - mlvassallo, on 10/22/2009, -3/+10This isn't a matter of religion it is a matter of mental health. This father is mentally unbalanced. Trying to turn this in to a bash on religion is twisted.
If you actually pick up the Bible and read it you would discover that the practice of circumcision became unimportant to the Christian faith sometime in Acts and when churches actually started demanding followers become circumcised to be members they were pretty heavily rebuked by the apostle Paul.
No matter where the custom came from in the US, the choice is made by the male child's parents at birth in the hospital. Now, while the child is an infant if the foreskin is not cleaned well enough by a parent there is a chance for infection- circumcision can drastically reduce this chance and that is why the service is still provided. Don't take my word for it, ask a ***** OBGYN or even a L and D nurse. I was fortunate enough to have both as parents. - sildude, on 10/22/2009, -3/+10Wow. They actually HATE un-circumcised men. You know what if you actually know women like that then you can keep em.
- Neville007, on 10/22/2009, -3/+10Circuncision is only good for one thing, and that's phimosis*. Those who don't suffer it should leave their genitalia alone.
*And yes, I speak from experience. - c0mputar, on 10/22/2009, -3/+9I didn't even know what circumcision made the dick look like. For the longest time I thought I was circumcised because my parents were religious and I knew my uncles were circumcised [I heard it in passing you sick *****]. So being nonreligious myself, it made my blood boil. Eventually I found a good diagram on the internet and I was lucky to avoid embarrassing myself in front of my parents. Pretty sad but it's why I hate the practice with a passion.
- andy2125, on 10/22/2009, -5/+11"Religion and brain damage go together like milk and cookies, don't they?"
--Enough said, Dugg. - CowGoesMooo, on 10/22/2009, -1/+6"disgusting uncircumcised penis"
Yes, because it clearly wasn't meant to be there.
Seriously, who gives a ***** how it looks, it's part of your ***** body, it isn't there by accident. - Shigglyboo, on 10/22/2009, -0/+5I could have sworn that circumcision was common practice at hospitals, done for sanitary reasons... but what do I know.
- Suricou, on 10/22/2009, -2/+7The STI research is rather dubious - there is some evidence from a trial in Africa to suggest it may protect against HIV, but the protection provided is far below that of using condoms, the research methodology is questionable, and there was no monitoring for other STIs. It's a case of 'interesting, needs further investigating' at best, not yet something to make policy around.
- inactive, on 10/22/2009, -1/+5This girl loves her uncircumcised man.
- Yage2006, on 10/22/2009, -0/+4Wow I need to start a religion that says that god wants all girls to get Brazilians regularly .
Then I can back it up by saying. But men prefer women with brazilians.
"Here come all the users saying how stupid and barbaric this ritual is. Guess what, I've talked to quite a few girls about this subject and they all hate un-circumcised men."
Here come all the people in denial that their penis go mutilated by their parents delusional belief who will say anything to justify it even the most absurd. - zip000, on 10/22/2009, -5/+9Another complaint from a circumcised American here!
When I was just a day or so old, someone cut off a piece of my penis for foggy reasons at best*. When I had a son, I was adamant that he not be mutilated. Its funny, even now that we pretty much all know that there isn't much reason to circumcise, the doctors still expect you to do it. They must have asked us a dozen times if we were sure about not circumcising.
*the leading reasons today are to prevent infections...if you clean it, you won't get infections, and to later in life reduce the chances of STDs...which seems a little more valid on the surface, but I still don't accept as a viable reason to cut off a piece of my child. - mitsx, on 10/22/2009, -5/+8Dugg for the last sentence.
- bitORlogic, on 10/22/2009, -0/+3If you ever write your own translation of the Bible, send me a copy. :)
- Yage2006, on 10/23/2009, -1/+4It's not an issue if you bathe.
Moron. - banderwocky, on 10/22/2009, -8/+11***** religious fanatics. Should not be breeding.
- defwheezer, on 10/22/2009, -1/+4"Religion and brain damage go together like milk and cookies, don't they?"
- askantik, on 10/22/2009, -3/+5I have played sports for most of my life and have never seen another guy's penis in the shower. And even if I did, I wouldn't care about some other guy's "junk." But maybe that's just me...
- TheCollective00, on 10/22/2009, -2/+4I might get buried for this but I'm really glad I'm circumcised...the idea of smegma makes me want to choke on my vomit.
- graemee, on 10/22/2009, -0/+2The grass is greener...
Regardless what is the other pasture. - Suricou, on 10/22/2009, -1/+3Strange how the only people who report that are circumcised...
- Yage2006, on 10/22/2009, -1/+3Ya there is a good reason atheist will bring it up. Because its ***** RETARDED only a insane moron would mutilate his own genitals for their imaginary friend.
- portnoy, on 10/22/2009, -0/+2@c0mputar
I don't care what you or anyone else here or anywhere else thinks. I expressed my opinion and my gratitude, nothing more. I cannot express any opinion that differs from yours? What kind of piece of work are you? You think I should "shut the ***** up."? Well you can shut the ***** up! - Yage2006, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2When your cut you will have more women after you ?
So you walk around with your dick hanging out or do you wear a shirt advertising that you are cut.
- bitORlogic, on 10/22/2009, -2/+4You're aware that cutting body parts off infants _also_ gives a chance of infection, right?
- Outofthenight, on 10/22/2009, -1/+3If you want the female analogue to this, it would be surgical removal of the hood of the clitoris. Being male, I can't speak directly on what that would be like, but I think anyone with common sense can get a sense as to how uncomfortable that would be.
- uptwolait, on 10/22/2009, -5/+7The only part of a dick that should have been cut is this man's head from the neck up.
- graemee, on 10/22/2009, -0/+2That's actually possible. After all if the can create a penis from a vag, making a foreskin from skin is easy.
- jv2k, on 10/22/2009, -0/+2Enough with this "Female circumcision is the same thing" bull. I'm against circumcision(well not in the case of religious reasons, but only in a medical setting, not like the retard in the article) but it is nowhere near as bad as FGM. Did you miss the part in the article where 85% of those women have their clitorises cut off?
The clitoris is the most sensitive part of the female genitalia and without it sexual pleasure is essentially killed. The two aren't analogous. A direct analogy would be cutting off the head of your penis. - esteskid, on 10/22/2009, -0/+2"Circumcision"....a type of genital mutilation
The word is not that fancy. - BrianTerrel, on 10/22/2009, -0/+2Generally the purpose of a parody is to show that an argument is silly.
It looks to me like you've instead managed to suggest that religion serves just as well as booze, bad parenting, and mob mentality for addling the minds of men. - h8red42, on 10/22/2009, -0/+2OK , i read this article a while ago and have been thinking, although i am circumcised i don't know much about the actual practice. and so i went to GOOGLE and found a video showing a real circumcision.is it better with or without(sexual)?i don't know.is it healthier?maybe, its still debatable.is it hard on the baby? ummm.....YES! i'm not saying to not do,or do,i'm just saying NOVOCAINE! DAMN! that kid was crying because he was tied down sure, but when the doctor started to cut on his junk the kid went ballistic.glad i can't remember it.
- Rammat2, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1Although it seems cleaner to be circumcised, if I ever have a son, I think I'll let HIM decide to remove his dolphin head.
