- fitqueenb, on 06/05/2008, -1/+8This stunt might leave less people going to the restaurant as owners did not support her in fighting a disease so many face.
- Rubab, on 06/05/2008, -0/+7do you guys have idea when a cancer patient goes under chemo therapy, his or her all hairs fall.. and he she becomes bald due to immune deficient and changes in hormonal system.. this lady has done right thing to raise money for cancer patients.. restaurant must re think decision of terminating her.. rather be a part of this noble cause it will enhance their customers..
- bigbrocktoon, on 06/05/2008, -0/+5CP is reporting that the hero that laid her off is named Dan Hilliard of Owen Sound, Ontario Canada.
- CedEx, on 06/05/2008, -0/+4People should boycott that restaurant because their actions have proven that they are cancer charity unfriendly.
Perhaps the restaurant will change their minds one day if they are unfortunate enough to get cancer. - ordig, on 06/06/2008, -0/+3Heres the contact info of the restaurant:
215 8Th Street East
Owen Sound, ON N4K 1L2
519-371-3440 - CountryGuy, on 06/06/2008, -0/+3I am a 35 year old cancer survivor, having just finished chemotherapy and radiation therapy for Hodgkin's a week ago. I am eternally grateful to people such as Stacey who do small and large things to help with cancer research.
The owners of Nathaniel's can rot in hell. I hope that their doors are shuttered within a year, and that Jeff Ferris and Dan Hilliard are bankrupt. While I would never wish cancer upon anyone, they seriously need a wake-up call. I don't think they even realize that by firing Stacey, they just stated that bald women are unwelcome at their restaurant. Do they have any idea how much courage is required for many woman to go out in public when they get cancer? Stacey did it as a volunteer, and was shown the door for her efforts.
Saying I'm outraged is minimizing the impact, frankly. - tomlasusa, on 06/06/2008, -0/+2The sad thing is that from a business perspective this resturaunt could totally have capitalized on the situation. They could have given the waitress some special recognition, tried for some positive press in which the resturaunt would be easily referenced...even something as simple as a sign saying "Congrats to our Stacey" would have generated good PR for them.
Instead they threw up their policy flag and now have plenty of press...all of it negative. - peterbrowne, on 06/06/2008, -0/+2This is f****** disgusting
- taketheleap, on 06/06/2008, -0/+1according to CBC, she was fired because she didnt give him notice that she was going to shave her head...
wow. if this doesn't have "wrongful dismissal" written all over it, I dunno what does. - aethelberga, on 06/06/2008, -0/+1What if she'd lost her hair because of cancer. Would that have been acceptable?
- d0d0burd, on 06/06/2008, -0/+0The restaurant requires employees' hair to be of "reasonable length". Personally, I don't offer my business to restaurants lacking "reasonable empathy".
