- ferreth, on 05/22/2008, -3/+528Sometimes I think the internet is all crap now. Then I see something like this to remind me of the gems that lurk within.
- Phulvia, on 05/22/2008, -4/+447this was just amazing.
- rawg, on 05/22/2008, -3/+251It's incredible that just a polaroid a day can provide such a window into someone's life. Juxtapose that with our current generation which will have the most blogged, photographed and video captured lives in the history of humanity. Good find.
- ProphetSix, on 05/22/2008, -3/+239A picture is worth a thousand words.
6,697 pictures is worth a lifetime.... - inactive, on 05/22/2008, -2/+179my father recently died of cancer, may 14th, and seeing this just completely breaks my heart.
it is really touching see all of this, and he seemed like a great person. - inactive, on 05/22/2008, -3/+153Just imagine what your life would look like through thousands of polaroids? It certainly would be a sureal experience looking back through them all.
- doublsh0t, on 05/22/2008, -10/+120warning: spoiler in title
- chromerium, on 05/22/2008, -9/+118Just when you think Digg is being taken over by political nut-jobs, it comes out with something like this. Great stuff, and a reason to keep coming back.
- headzoo, on 05/22/2008, -12/+99Jesus.. Most joyful and most heartbreaking thing I've seen all week
- slayerab, on 05/22/2008, -1/+84That was really touching, wow.
- NathanielJ, on 05/22/2008, -10/+93Actually, 6,697 pictures are then worth about 6.7 million words, and supposedly the "average" male speaks about 3,000 words per day, which suggests 6,697 pictures are worth about 6 years, 42 days, and 8 hours.
- vexingmodstwo, on 05/22/2008, -4/+73THIS is the kind of stuff I still come to Digg to see... I'm choked up.
- dOOBiEx213, on 05/22/2008, -2/+67Day 1: Digg
Day 2: Digg
Day 3: Digg
Day 4: Digg
Aww, ***** this. - inactive, on 05/22/2008, -0/+62This is one of those kind of stories that you start out reading and think its going to be stupid, something that's already been done before, and then you read and get completely blown away. Its good stories like this that make you feel human again
- helikopter, on 05/22/2008, -1/+51account suspended :(
- Wiitesters, on 05/22/2008, -2/+51A must see. Jaimie Livingston took one Polaroid snapshot of something he found moving, interesting or just personally important to him, every day, for roughly two decades, up to his death at 40. The resulting collection documents one of the most poignant, poetic and unpretentious photography projects I've witnessed. Very moving and poetic.

real site: http://addresszero.com/pod-html/ - revjustin2, on 05/22/2008, -2/+48 It was at this time a year ago that we learned my Dad's bone marrow transplant wasn't working. By June 9th, he would be gone and my life would be changed in ways I still don't grasp. These pictures, in some strange way, are a tribute to everyone who was taken by cancer.
- aussieNickuss, on 05/22/2008, -3/+48Dugg for later viewing. The digg crowd has bought down the site in question.
- andypop481, on 05/22/2008, -2/+44THIS is the kind of story that needs to get dugg, that SHOULD get dugg. Not the same **** like all the demotivational posters posted together. Again. But on a different site.
- jedisushi, on 05/22/2008, -1/+41Speechless.
- killdashnine, on 05/22/2008, -5/+44Speechless. Thanks for posting this one ... this is the kind of stuff we need rather than inane politics diggs.
- lostformat1125, on 05/22/2008, -3/+39Wow!....first time posting here at digg......im just lost for words.......really amazing......imagine the will power it takes just to take 1 picture everyday...thru the best and worst of times...just wow....
- orangethirteen, on 05/22/2008, -1/+37Well here is the number to the ISP...

I tried to pay but they wouldn't let me :( - AvidPreatorian, on 05/22/2008, -2/+26the math doesn't lie
- TheWorm, on 05/22/2008, -4/+27MrBabyMan submits a lot of cool stuff. I think he deserves credit where it's due..this is one of those stories.
- GawtMilk, on 05/22/2008, -1/+23This was really comforting. You look at "dying at 41" as this awful event, that it's such a short time period.
Then you look at the photograph of all his Polaroids lined up on a wall, and see the amazing span that 6,697 days is -- which wasn't even his full life -- and you see the vast number of things a human can experience even in a relatively short time period. - ThaDRD, on 05/22/2008, -1/+23***** CANCER SUCKS!! (It really does, find a goddamn cure already)
- orangethirteen, on 05/22/2008, -0/+22Yeah! This is why I joined Digg way back when... It's been so long I had to make a new password.
This is incredible. I have to give props to Babyman! This is pure magic, art, touching and inspiring.
Now the site is suspended.
Thanks so much! :) Beautiful. - buckrogers1965, on 05/22/2008, -2/+22Yeah, it sucks that you can't just filter out the political posts. Oh wait, you can.
- iDiggIt42, on 05/22/2008, -0/+18This is giving me the urge to do a picture-a-day thing for the rest of my life.
- Mobiletek, on 05/22/2008, -0/+17Awesome!! What an inspirational idea
- sockpuppets, on 05/22/2008, -3/+20I spell it meloncollie, then I imagine a happy dog playing in a watermelon patch.
- Aurabolt, on 05/22/2008, -0/+17I wish I had a time machine so I could click a Digg link just minutes before it hits the front page so I could actually see what everyone is talking about, and not 2 days later =(
- Handonam, on 05/22/2008, -2/+19yea i'd have to agree.
very touching. It feels rewarding to get an article like this on digg. - Cougnut415, on 05/22/2008, -0/+15I think what he meant to get across is that these pictures give a window in to what it's like to watch someone go through cancer and lose to it. This is something people who have dealt with situations like these firsthand will be able to relate to. It will bring back memories of it, the good and the bad. It's a mutual sympathy that brings back the lost one(s) in your life. Brings back the hurt, but also brings back the love. It keeps that person alive through our hearts.
Some of the good you see in this is that his girl actually married him despite his condition. That's true love. Props to her. That probably made him the happiest person on earth. Even if he didn't last long after that, I'm sure it helped escape some of his torment.
The fact that this man had the courage to continue this project through cancer is amazing. My uncle had lung cancer and would not let me or my siblings see him in his condition... I would not have cared how bad he looked. Hats off to Jamie Livingston. Rest in peace. - inactive, on 05/22/2008, -4/+18Cherish those who would sit by your death bed.
- sunnyd, on 05/22/2008, -2/+16You must have missed the link to the entire gallery:
http://addresszero.com/pod-html/ - MiddleOfNowhere, on 05/22/2008, -0/+14"soooooo...... basically, remembering"
- What did you do six days ago?
- Was September 5 2006 a good day?
- What did you wear in June 1999?
None of these questions are terribly important. But if you wanted a picture of your life - something to look back on one day - and keep more than just broad strokes, do you really think your memory would serve you so well?
(Well, it may if you have photographic memory.)
I think this is a fascinating project. Most people wouldn't do it because many of their days are unimpressing, slow and exchangeable ... but maybe that's the point.
If you had pictures of it, you might be more inclined to do something (more) relevant with your days. - secrity, on 05/22/2008, -0/+14Polaroid film has always been comparatively expensive and SX-70 was a high end camera with premium price film packs.
Today's exotic prices for SX-70 film are much higher than they would have been when it was commonly available. Polaroid film used to be available at discount stores and mail-order at a moderate discount, and near date or recently expired film could frequently be purchased for half price. SX-70 film packs are/were also unique because they contained a flat 6 volt Polapulse battery.
As far as hobbies and art projects go, a dollar or two a day (in today's dollars) isn't all that expensive. I believe that this project was well worth many times the money that it cost. - EmitStop, on 05/22/2008, -4/+17Amazing, make sure to take a look at the full thing. Is he dead in the last photo (10-25-97) Or was it the next day that he died (10-26-97)?
- dha07030, on 05/22/2008, -8/+21It makes me want to do something similar, but I am way to lazy to stick to something like that.
- sabach, on 05/22/2008, -1/+14I lost my father to cancer in '91 and my brother in '04, he was gone in just 4 months. Hang in there, it'll get better. I have beat cancer myself twice now.
- sepllcehck, on 05/22/2008, -4/+16Wow.. this is fantastic.. I tried to do this.. (post a photo a day) and only lasted about 2 1/2 years...
Some of his work is very interesting....
my meager attempt.
godamonginsects.com (no advertising or anything) - BrianOl, on 05/22/2008, -0/+12Whats almost as amazing is how much something like this would cost. A 10-pack of Polaroids costs around $20. This was a really expensive project.
- jay019, on 05/22/2008, -3/+15Yeah, but remember 1 pic per day = $2. You'd waste more than that on pointless crap you dont need.
- diggymow, on 05/22/2008, -0/+12Great. Something awesome and it's down before I get to it.
- inactive, on 05/22/2008, -0/+12Found a small subset of the photos...
http://tinyurl.com/52kajw - Aroundtheworls, on 05/22/2008, -1/+12Amazing and sobering to see how little time he had between his initial diagnosis (or what he reveals to us anyway) and his death- just 6 short months.
- ArmandoM, on 05/22/2008, -3/+14You do understand that things like that happen automatically right? It's not like there's some guy sitting there watching waiting for a threshold to hit so he can hit the "suspend" button.
