- gfryesc, on 05/14/2009, -13/+35probably no more hateful than partisan diggers. the comments I've seen out here are really quite nasty.
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -2/+16Who cares if other people with different opinions make groups? Ignore them.
- yocouchdigga, on 05/14/2009, -0/+13I just read "Hate Goes Viral" and peed a little...
Rage Zombies are the worst. - inactive, on 05/14/2009, -5/+17"watch even better what we say and how we say it"
In a free nation people should be encouraged to speak openly about where they stand. Better to let hate groups marginalize themselves through their own words than through the self-censoring of others. - inactive, on 05/14/2009, -1/+11"Hate Goes Viral On Social Network Sites " im betting you guys never went on 4chan did you?
- thenativeraver, on 05/14/2009, -2/+12littlegreenfootballs, here's looking at you!
- pintomp3, on 05/15/2009, -2/+12You are full of *****. The KKK targeted Catholics, not all Christians. They targetted Catholics because they felt the Catholics weren't real Christians. The KKK was a Protestant organization.
- SSPink, on 05/14/2009, -4/+13Go read what's posted on the /b/ board at 4chan.org or the posts on the freerepublic.com
The "hate" on digg is so mild compared to what can be found elsewhere as to be innocuous. - yocouchdigga, on 05/14/2009, -14/+23sorry but religion ***** sucks.
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -15/+23If you notice in most of these racist forums, no one posts any new threads on Sunday mornings.
Thats because they are at Church. - stereosaurus, on 05/15/2009, -0/+8To be fair I'm not on the internet on Sunday mornings either, because I'm still ***** sleeping.
- C0ntraRadical, on 05/14/2009, -7/+15Way to post links to a Holocaust denial site. Very exemplary of the article's subject matter.
- MarkusX, on 05/14/2009, -10/+18I guess we all have told a racial joke or used a racial slur or just thought a racial thought before (even if it was only mild and maybe unnoticed), but maybe it's time to watch even better what we say and how we say it, so we don't feed these hater groups any additional reasons to exist.
- immatellyouwhat, on 05/14/2009, -0/+8We should start a " Don't be a retard arguing on the internet " Group
- deadlyfluvirus, on 05/14/2009, -10/+17Oh noes! We better get our politicians to act now and suppress, censor and control everything on the internet to put a stop to this!
- Petmc, on 05/14/2009, -3/+9C'mon Taliban, MySpace is SO 2004!
- Princeamor, on 05/14/2009, -5/+11This is all propaganda to eventually lead to the rise of Internet 2. No sarcasm.
- alexra, on 05/14/2009, -4/+9I thought for a second this article was talking about the republican party
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -0/+5/b/ is a bad example, trolls trolling trolls. I don't believe that anyone believes anything that anyone says on there.
- PhillyOC, on 05/14/2009, -0/+5I hate people that use the term "haters", is that so wrong?
- heystoopid, on 05/14/2009, -5/+10Or is it , a very sad case of most people seeing past the trench of denial tired rhetoric propaganda of using past historic events of a racist and narrow minded bigoted minority to further their own hidden agenda of land theft , stealing billions of other peoples hard earned money , hate , fear and bigotry of "the evil ends justify the evil means and the evil means justify the evil ends with religion absolving themselves of all these sins in the process" because they can and are very afraid of facing their own half truths , lies and slander against the innocent ?
Nor must we forget that well in excess of seventy three million people perished in an evil war and no one people or country suffered no more and no less then any other or an institute that reduced the numbers to suit it's own propaganda and ignored the suffering of others in the process to milk the maximum propaganda effect to pursue their own hidden agenda of evil against fellow man too .
Choices or cui bono from the rhetoric and tired propaganda of writing history according to their narrow point of view whilst living in the rut of denial ? - JimmyTheClam, on 05/14/2009, -4/+8'All speech I do not agree with is hate speech', is that how it goes?
Hey, let's shred the first amendment (just a little this time) simply to make sure nobody gets offended at reading commentary they do not like. - robbob, on 05/14/2009, -1/+5networking does not discriminate
- homercles337, on 05/14/2009, -4/+8I couldnt find a single reputable reference in that first link. This prevents me from searching the other links for anything but ill repute. Within in two seconds i inferred that ihr.org was not a credible site, but you posed nearly a handful of links? Nice.
- BertaButter, on 05/15/2009, -4/+8It has little to do with hate groups or speech. It has to do with another way government can control you. Don't think, don't talk, don't live.
It's an ad hominem attack on free speech, government style. We said it's bad, we know what's good for you. - buddamus, on 05/14/2009, -1/+5The problem with free speech is that it goes both ways, its an unwanted side effect but still necessary for a truly free society
- hellotyler, on 05/15/2009, -1/+5I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll fight to the death for your right to say it.
- BertaButter, on 05/15/2009, -1/+5"To prohibit free speech is the first act of terrorism"
No one can limit or control another person's thoughts anyway, and it would be foolhardy and destructive to the polity for a sovereign to attempt to do so. Nor can speech ever truly and effectively be controlled, since people will always say want they want, at least in private. “Everyone is by absolute natural right the master of his own thoughts, and thus utter failure will attend any attempt in a commonwealth to force men to speak only as prescribed by the sovereign despite their different and opposing opinions” (TTP, chap. 20, G III.240/S 223). There must, Spinoza grants, be some limits to speech and teaching. Seditious discourse that encourages individuals to nullify the social contract should not be tolerated. But the best government will err on the side of leniency and allow the freedom of philosophical speculation and the freedom of religious belief. Certain “inconveniences” will, no doubt, sometimes result from such an extensive liberty. But the attempt to regulate everything by law is “more likely to arouse vices than to reform them”. In a passage that foreshadows John Stuart Mill's utilitarian defense of liberty nearly two centuries later, Spinoza adds that “this freedom is of the first importance in fostering the sciences and the arts, for only those whose judgment is free and unbiased can attain success in these fields” (TTP, chap. 20, G III.243/S 226).
Baruch Spinoza http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/spinoza/ - BaphClass, on 05/15/2009, -2/+5Rest assured, despite what they may think, they make all of us atheists look bad. Every group has extremists, and sadly, atheism is no exception.
So, you worship a multifaceted being, composed of infinite love and wisdom? Hey, that's cool, and I'm sure you don't want my gay friend to burn in hell any more than people wearing a cotton/polyester blend as well. Now the crazy ***** to the right of you? Maybe, but I'm secure in knowing that he's part of a (very vocal) minority, and he belongs to a dying movement. Moderate religion is the best form of religion if I do say so myself, and it's rapidly becoming the only form of religion around. Fundamentalism is on its way out, despite what 16 year old, angst-ridden Youtubers would like to believe. - Karkian, on 05/15/2009, -1/+44chan's hate doesn't discriminate. /b/ hasn't been a regular haunt of mine for a long time, but c'mon. 90% of the user base I always felt was more anti-political correctness than genuinely racist. Anonymity on 4chan used to exist by-and-large to facilitate people doing and saying exactly what they wanted without fear of being singled out for reprisal. The Anonymous persona was a seperate entity from any one user. It didn't matter if you agreed with what Anonymous said even if it was you who just hit submit.
The last big invasion before Anonymous became something akin to a movement with all the Scientology stuff, so far as I can recall, was against the website of one Hal Turner, a grade-A white supremacist *****. There were raids on stormfront back in the day too.
TL;DR
Anonymous is just out to ***** up your day. - Va1kyrie, on 05/16/2009, -0/+3Groups are labeled as "hate" groups simply because they express concern that they are being deprived of an ethnic homeland and effectively genocided. Really the multiracists who defend this genocide are the real haters.
- hereticoftruth, on 05/14/2009, -1/+4As much as we don't like hate talk opinion groups, we should let them spew and correct their thought processes with the appropriate truths they need to hear. Hate action groups should be closed down. But just because they may be angry about some perceived injustice does not mean they are a hate group.
- yocouchdigga, on 05/14/2009, -9/+12@otterp, drop the imaginary friend, not buildings.
- SpinningHead, on 05/15/2009, -1/+4hating the chosen ideology of nazis /= hating people for being white or german
get it?
If you're against any form of hate, why did you call democrats spineless less than 1hr ago? - JagPop, on 05/15/2009, -6/+9Did the Simon Wiesenthal Center put itself on the list? Did you know that they are participating in erasing Muslims from history in Jerusalem? Did you?
The Simon Wiesenthal Center is building a Museum Of Tolerance ... wait for it ... on a thousand year old Muslim cemetery!
Isn't that a great way to promote tolerance and deflate hate.
Zionists have wiped hundreds of Palestinian villages from the map. Zionists seek to eliminate Palestinian claim to the land and to history. The Simon Wiesenthal Center is doing their part.
What would The State Of Israel (now without legitimacy, after the Gaza Carnage) be without anti-semitism? It is the mortar of that state and it's power. No anti-semitism, no Israel. The Wiesenthal Center is doing it's part to promote hate and anti-semitism and give Israel a reason for being.
Bulldozers with Simon Wiesenthal's name on them erasing essential Muslim history from Jerusalem.
By the way, the area also includes the site of the Christian Holocaust of the seventh century. Jews massacred sixty to ninety thousand Christian prisoners; this at a time when the population of the Earth was two percent of what it is today, so the impact and denuding of the population was intense. - aqrilik, on 05/15/2009, -2/+5………………….._,,-~’’’¯¯¯’’~-,,

- ivan423, on 05/14/2009, -0/+2Why is Digg so slow to load? ...and those damn video ads freeze my browser for a few seconds.
- Tangaroa, on 05/15/2009, -2/+4The problem is that the hate groups are not being marginalized by their words, they are getting stronger. It is the opponents of racism who are getting marginalized as the racists find racist friends on the net who encourage them to keep up the racist speech while most people don't care or become too afraid of losing friends or looking uncool to speak out against it.
- inactive, on 05/15/2009, -3/+5Oh you mean minority groups that advocate the hatred for white people? Yeah, I'm sure that never comes up, but is just as rampant.
- ccordero, on 05/14/2009, -3/+5don't go too far... you can see that here at Digg
- Grueslayer, on 05/15/2009, -0/+2I remember hate groups on BBSes... long before "the internet" existed.
- DubYaSee, on 05/15/2009, -5/+7I wonder why people must be incarcerated for questioning the interpretations of historical evidence regarding Germany's treatment of Jews during the Third Reich. Is the popularly promoted view so fragile, that laws must be enacted to protect this construct? Have any of you who react so viscerally against the questioning of widely held opinions, about the reality of the Holocaust, ever bothered to look at what the revisionists and/or deniers posit?
When I've read of regimes that imprisoned people for incorrect thought, these regimes have always come to a bad end. If being a holocaust denier is baseless and completely in error, then why must they be imprisoned for speaking this irrational gibberish. Or, could it be that there is substance to their questions and assertions? - haatu, on 05/15/2009, -2/+4im not fond of religion either, but it's only the extremists who make it look bad.
afaik most people just use it as a way to live their life - slightlyoffbeat, on 05/14/2009, -1/+3Oh good, as long as its worse somewhere else, then its just fine
/s - haatu, on 05/15/2009, -2/+4really tangaroa?
i think you must be living in a parallel universe to mine, because i have never, ever seen opponents of racism marginalized. also, if the racists can find their racist friends on the net, the opponents of racism can do the exact same thing.
and i completely agree with kasey. i will not censor myself to spare others' sensitive feelings. what ever happened to having a thick skin? - Tangaroa, on 05/15/2009, -1/+3That's part of what makes the American right so sad, although LGF does seem to have gotten somewhat saner since Obama was elected.
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -3/+5Hey look! The majority is having a persecution complex!
Believe it or not, that's a major component to the survival of most of the main religions. It comes from back when they were small movements and persecution was a real problem, but nowadays it's a holdover that keeps you from thinking clearly when your beliefs are questioned, since the guys with the facts are all "out to get you".
Combine that with "faith", and you've got a mental shield through which very few facts can penetrate. - inactive, on 05/14/2009, -4/+6Ya I have contributed some... I hate Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter not to mention chatrooms with their ASL so what?
- papastout, on 05/14/2009, -1/+3This is the beginning of how we are going to deal with the scourge of hate speech. Things have moved much faster than most might have thought in the realm of human rights, and it's granted that there are incredible injustices in the world. I think we are looking at something that is (with the help of teh intarnets) now getting sunshine on it and realizing, perhaps collectively, just what nonsense these 'hate' groups represent.
