- life38, on 09/06/2008, -2/+8Does a Guy follow his mind, sex drive, dominance drive, Dawism survival of the fittest drive or the current norm? But what is the current norm.
I wrote once that sports teams should be responsible.
Most sports have various degrees of aggression. “Being rough” is appropriate to the opponents but where is the training on drawing the line? How to turn off the aggression is never taught. There is only positive reinforcement for being aggressive. What is the lasting message being programmed into the individual? What is the capacity of a youth to know the distinction? What is the capacity of an adult to know the distinction? Mix messages do not help to resolve conflict within a person on whether to fight or flight. What the *****, submitter? Give up trying? - Stevo23, on 09/07/2008, -1/+8FTA: "In his 2007 book Boys Adrift, family physician Leonard Sax of Malvern, Pa., suggests that many young men are becoming slackers, in part because of ***too many hours of video games*** and a dearth of role models that undermine male motivation."
Oh, of course, I forgot that all of society's ills can be laid at the feet of video games. How silly of me. - Rotzooi, on 09/07/2008, -2/+4Also buried to being a totally weak-ass article.
- fatas, on 09/07/2008, -1/+1lol the title looks like it could have been from Onion
- Stevo23, on 09/07/2008, -0/+9What a terrible article: "Some manage to stay on track, including 22-year-old Layne Held, a credit analyst at a bank in Birmingham, Ala. He graduated in May with a business degree from the University of Georgia in Athens, where "people went to class and wanted to do well."
Wow, a credit analyst in Birmingham. He's totally winning the game of life! Thank god he stayed on track.- paladin144, on 09/08/2008, -1/+2What the ***** do they mean by "on track" anyway? He mentions it several times in the article. Apparently deviating from the "track" society has prepared for you is bad. Concerns about young men getting mixed messages go out the window after the first couple paragraphs.
***** article.

- Fhwqhgads, on 09/07/2008, -0/+7Individualism. What's that?
- cryosin, on 09/07/2008, -0/+1A dead concept, of course!
- mllawso, on 09/07/2008, -0/+1Being what mainstream society calls a social outcast, yet not giving a *****.
- OfficialJoe, on 09/08/2008, -0/+1Ask the Japanese...nobody does it quite the way they do:

- bentaisan, on 09/07/2008, -2/+3Playing video games, womanizing and drinking are not slacking...
There is a perfectly good word for those activities...hunting.
I used to play with paper dolls...cutting them out and putting little paper outfits on them. Then, I would have my 12" GI Joe's either launch an assault on them or protect them from an assault. Of course, my boss thinks I should be working on code, but this is much more fun. - ceramufary, on 09/07/2008, -2/+3Badly written article, but I do think that feminism has left guys behind in some ways. The idea ought to be to liberate /everyone/ from confining gender roles. The patriarchy hurts men as well. :-/ Maybe this is growing pains.
- mllawso, on 09/07/2008, -0/+1One of my coworkers is a "Stay at home dad." It wasn't until i got home (after meeting him for the first time) that I realized that the image of him I had created in my mind was *****. There's nothing wrong about being a man and staying home with the kids -- nothing ***** up a kid more than spending the vast majority of their formative years being raised by TV, video games, and public schools. It was then I realized that his a much better parent than most.
