- socivitus, on 05/13/2009, -0/+89She pulled some matrix ***** on that mofo!
- roomforpanic, on 05/13/2009, -0/+71If I dodged a bullet from point blank range, I'd put it on my resume.
- freezerburn666, on 05/13/2009, -2/+68too bad she missed, would been nice to see that punk ass splattered all over the store
- pegothejerk, on 05/13/2009, -0/+63That was not even a close matchup. She's apparently able to slow time down, and he is the most chicken-***** robber I've ever seen. Basically he tried to kill an old lady and then take her crap afterwards. I'm betting he's stolen candy (bikes) from children before.
- unusualbob, on 05/13/2009, -0/+44You do realize he had just tried to kill her, right? I'd pretty much shoot anyone who had just fired a round at my face a few seconds before, even if they were running away.
- pathouston22, on 05/13/2009, -11/+53So lets see...with gun control, the white woman wouldn't have a gun, and the criminal still would of had a gun regardless. She would be dead.
- Phaedryn, on 05/13/2009, -21/+62Wait, this must be fake...
All the anti gun folks are constantly telling us this doesn't happen. An armed citizen, faced with the prospect of being a victim of a violent crime, successfully defends herself?
Say it aint so! - Hend, on 05/13/2009, -1/+35Wow, so the lady was caught by surprise and he still tried to shoot her?
He didn't play fair, why should she? - wjlaw100, on 05/13/2009, -2/+34Wish she would have capped that guy. Natural selection was cheated.
- pathouston22, on 05/13/2009, -3/+32Kinda like how nobody in America does drugs, since its illegal and the War on Drugs, right?
- Kypt, on 05/13/2009, -0/+19I'm all for mercy etc, however this guy walked to the counter and shot her at point-blank without even giving demands. How the hell can I trust him to leave (he still had his gun) and not try again?
- lurajoonami, on 05/13/2009, -0/+18that is admirable right there.
- lothar250, on 05/13/2009, -5/+23Absolutely right. With too restrictive gun laws, maybe she wouldn't have had that gun under the counter, unlike the assailant. Because if you want to get a gun to commit crimes, you will get it.
- channeleaton, on 05/13/2009, -0/+18Nice to see some people take their jobs seriously.
Much better than the crap that work at McD's - recruz, on 05/13/2009, -0/+18She's a ninja!
- john2kx, on 05/13/2009, -0/+16Yeah, ***** him, I would have done the same probably.
- pzrapnbeast, on 05/13/2009, -8/+23I like how she acted as if managing the store was the greatest responsibility ever and there is no way she could quit..."This is what I do, I MANAGE the store"
- angryfirelord, on 05/13/2009, -1/+14What are you trying to tell me? That I can dodge bullets?
No, Neo. I'm trying to tell you that when you're ready, you won't have to. - DontTreadOnMike, on 05/13/2009, -0/+13Good on her
- dixieleopard, on 05/13/2009, -0/+12well someone has to make sure you can get your slim jims
- Spuy767, on 05/13/2009, -1/+12Which he would have gotten anyway because HE'S A ***** CRIMINAL AND MOCKS YOUR LAWS.
- vtnerd, on 05/13/2009, -3/+14"Wide-spread, nation-wide gun control works."
No, it would not work in the US. There are 200 million guns to 300 million people here. You're not going to round up all those guns no matter how successful other countries have been in doing so (which really has not been that successful).
Those other countries:
a) did not have a strong history of gun ownership like the US
b) did not have a Constitutional protection preventing the government from taking their guns
It will not work in the US. - Memnochxx, on 05/13/2009, -0/+10Wow look, this guy watched the video!
- deity, on 05/13/2009, -1/+10You are an idiot. This guy walked in and shot at the store clerk. He didn't even give her time to answer a question before firing. If she hadn't had the gun she wouldn't have lived because instead of running off he would have shot again. Her being able to defend herself saved her life and maybe the witnesses in the store.
The gunmen a Columbine were cowards that attacked defenseless individuals.
This guy dying might actually have been beneficial to society. There is nothing genetically or socially that he could possibly contribute. - cizzymac, on 05/13/2009, -1/+10It looks to me like the only reason the criminal missed is because the lady noticed the weapon and immediately went to retrieve her's from below the counter. She was extremely lucky, and it's a good thing she had a piece, too, because both she and her customer were ***** otherwise.
- bicyclethief, on 05/13/2009, -1/+10Suddenly, McJob doesn't seem so bad.
- BillE3, on 05/13/2009, -1/+10Gun owners in Australia were forced by law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.
Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent.
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.
*Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in just 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.
You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.
Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.
With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'. - richmomz, on 05/13/2009, -1/+9This is a great example of why people need to be armed to protect themselves and why "cooperating" with your attacker simply isn't an option in some situtations (for those people too lazy to watch the video, a guy walks into a gas station, walks right up to the counter with a gun and shoots without even saying anything. The lady dodges the shot Matrix style, grabs her pistol and sends the ***** running for his life.)
- novaculus, on 05/13/2009, -1/+9
And if he gets away, who will he shoot tomorrow night? And the night after?
Idiots who can't see beyond the end of their nose and no foresight beyond their next buzz will criticize this woman for defending herself. By the way, she was also defending her employers business and her community.
This criminal scum was a fleeing felon who posed an ongoing threat to the entire community. Too bad she missed. - deity, on 05/13/2009, -1/+9That's not the question at all. Until the 2nd amendment is revoked the real question is how much regulation is the court going to allow? If they treated it like the first amendment there would be very little at all.
Gun control doesn't save lives. One of the points of the video is that the guy used a pistol, he didn't use an assault rifle because they are to bulky and really don't give you an advantage if your goal is to sneak in and shoot an unsuspecting clerk. Short of outlawing and collecting all guns you are not going to prevent any gun crimes, gun laws only inhibit law abiding citizens from owning firearms. - idolwalrus, on 05/13/2009, -0/+8If you watch the video with no audio, it almost looks like being a convenience store clerk is the worst job ever.
- jba68, on 05/13/2009, -0/+8why so incredulous at that?
- deity, on 05/13/2009, -2/+8You are are wrong. If he had had an assault rifle, he wouldn't have been able to conceal it like a pistol and he couldn't have fired it any faster than an semi automatic pistol which he had.
If he had the assault rifle the store clerk might have noticed him walking in with it and been able to defend herself before he fired. He also probably wouldn't have been carrying it down the sidewalk because they are so much bigger than a pistol. - pegothejerk, on 05/13/2009, -0/+6both of them needed some time at the gun range if they were to execute their intentions.
- Spuy767, on 05/13/2009, -2/+8Sad thing is, even though you're an imbecile, if he'd been hit and sued the lady it probably could have been spun so that she lost a judgement in a court of law.
- LouisCipher777, on 05/13/2009, -0/+6so lets look at England... almost no guns at all, yet a violent crime rate that is nearly double what it was before they made guns illegal. same thing with australia. Oh, but lets look at switzerland, where gun ownership is mandatory... very little violent crime.
"Wide-spread, nation-wide gun control" is a complete failure. sure, gun crime is reduced... but violent crime skyrockets when those least able to defend themselves are deprived of the one device that evens the odds.
@Jabesque, if neither one had had a gun, and that robber had just jumped over the counter and started beating the clerk, do you think she could have done a fair job at defending herself against the young, healthy, violent male? really? - novaculus, on 05/13/2009, -1/+7
An absolute falsehood. Cite your source, if you have one.
Firearms are employed in self-defense 2 million times annually. Where restrictive firearms carry laws have been replaced with laws permitting carry by law-abiding citizens, violent crime against persons has been reduced. Every single time. - inactive, on 05/13/2009, -0/+6If she didn't pull that gun she probably would be dead. If guns are made illegal, the only people without guns will be those who do not break the law.
- jba68, on 05/13/2009, -5/+11one event is not a case study. I am pro gun I guess you could say, but stop jumping on each instance of gun play as if it is life and death.
Plenty of clerks have failed to survive such an incident. So your reasoning is flawed.
And the anti gun folks do not say it does not happen, they simply argue for making guns illegal (which I oppose). Try being more logical, and less reactionary, if possible. - buddyw, on 05/13/2009, -0/+6Ironically, REAL gun control is imaginary.
- SoftlyCaress, on 05/13/2009, -4/+9I say more people should be just like her .I know if I worked in a store at nights or anytime i would have my gun with me .I work as a nurse and had some idiot try to car jack me in the country on the way to a patients house one night so went right out and got me a 38 special snub nose taurus .keep it handy all the time let someone try it now I dare um....
- thcobbs, on 05/13/2009, -0/+5That's also why you choose a 357 over a 9mm...
crook's gun: *bang*
her gun: *BOOM* and paper goes flying from the shock wave. - BillE3, on 05/13/2009, -0/+5SWITZERLAND issues every household a gun! Some reactionaries would call that gun an assault rifle.
SWITZERLAND'S government trains every adult they issue a rifle.
SWITZERLAND has the lowest gun related crime rate of any civilized country in the world. Everyone is trained, responsible and acts with integrity. - deity, on 05/13/2009, -1/+6Show some numbers or don't make that kind of assertion.
- LilJimmyNordin, on 05/13/2009, -1/+6The next time I hear that cheesy voiceover guy's voice, I hope it's muffled by the trunk lid of a car that's sinking into a lake. I ***** hate that guy.
- inactive, on 05/13/2009, -0/+5That comment makes you sound like an *****. It's too bad lenders and brokers don't possess the same integrity and dedication as her.
- LouisCipher777, on 05/13/2009, -0/+5ok, so since "automatic assault rifles" [sic] have been heavily restricted since 1986, all you anti-gunners can go home now.
- LouisCipher777, on 05/13/2009, -0/+4let me guess, the guns made them do it? they had probably been smoking crystal meth for the last three months and thought these people were..... well.... whatever it is that meth heads think.
If they didnt have guns, they would have been just as crazy with rocks and sticks. - KentuckyBoy2, on 05/13/2009, -0/+4automatic assault rifle
Have you ever even owned a gun?
How would you use an "assault" rifle in this case.
Answer quickly: Which is more powerful an AR15 (.223) "Assault Rifle" or a Remington Model 7400 (30-06) hunting rifle?
I will give you a hint. One is classified as a defensive weapon and one is classified as an offensive weapon. One looks scary, and one looks like something from an Elmer Fudd cartoon. One goes bang and one goes boom.
Come on. I am not going to tell you the answer. You will need to google it. - inactive, on 05/13/2009, -1/+5I do not kill with my gun, I kill with my heart.
